- I remove the old galvanized water lines and replace them with PEX tubing.
I discover 100 year old lead drain pipe and remove and replace that for PVC drain line and install vent lines for the first time ever. The bathroom floor gets leveled for the new fiberglass bathtub.
We have a house that is a little over 100 years old as well and our house was level side to side, but not length wise as well, but our cause was because our basement is not concreted, so we just put concrete footings down for our beams, and every now and then we putmetal mechanical floor ceiling jacks after a while us typing it up it would be fine but if your basement is concreted, it’s because your houses floor beams are sagging and that just means you need more bracing in your basement
Nice job, your experience and problem-solving skills show through. I hope that UA-cam is suggesting your videos to more people as the star of your show and you make a good team.
Thank you! UA-cam has just started suggesting my videos to other people. Subscribers have more than doubled in just one week.
If you are ever so inclined, it would be awesome if you did more of a tutorial style of how to run plumbing. I noticed you showing closeups of the sloping, but it's clear that you know what you're doing and you are great at explaining your process. I know that a full on tutorial from you would be top notch!
I can do a video like that in the future. thanks!
OMG you’re hilarious 😂. A blooper reel?!
Thanks! I've always liked the outtakes in movies and tv. I felt this channel needed one too.
Great video !
Have you seen the new ProPress guns for the copper pipes ? Amazing ! Cuts the installation time in the half !
I saw the ProPress gun just a few weeks ago over at the local plumber's shop. Looks like a new fun tool to own.
Love your videos. Been working on my daughter's hundred-year-old house for the last 2 years. So I know exactly what you're going through. Termites are the worst. We found areas in the walls and floors. But they are years gone, but still had to repair their damage. Took some major work but its all good now.
I hate termites! They can do so much damage. I bet you're glad you're past that stage. Good luck on your daughter's house,
this is an amazing amount of help . awesome video
Glad to hear it!
Hey Nick, which part of US do you live? Can you come to Saint Louis to work on my house?!
I have 100yo copper supply/drain pipes with cast iron stack. Should I be saving to replace or don’t fix what isn’t broken?
I would say if it ain't broke don't fix it. I kept the old cast iron drain pipe to the basement because it was still in perfectly good condition 101 years later but connected in the new plumbing because the lead elbow to the toilet was partly missing and corroded. If the plumbing you have isn't leaking, corroded and is still draining properly then it will probably continue to function for a long time.
I've worked on newer homes that some of the PVC joints have failed after thirty years. The new stuff isn't always the best.
@@homeanddog4984 - you are 100 % accurate on that. If it was working for the last 100 years, most likely it will work fine for the next 30. 😁
My biggest concern is the new efficient toilets that don’t use enough water to push the solids through those old rough cast iron pipes. But a little maintenance once in a while can fix it up !
