I totally agree with the Combat Medic being a good beginner class. Although I still play the Combat Medic even as a lvl 50 I think it’s one of if not the most important force to ever hit the field,
Medics have access to some pretty dang good weapons, too. I main medic and I use it almost as a "medium" infantry. Plus, all the heals and revives 1. help the team, and 2. farm those certs!!
I actually played this during the Beta, I just stopped and forgot how to play the game after a year. Thanks for the reminder, recap, and guide! See you on the battlefield, brothers.
This is a great resource, I've sent this and a couple of other videos of yours and videos from Cyrious to a few of my new friends and they thought they were wonderful tools. Thanks for this, you're doing a true service to players who are just starting out.

I mean... they are 2 entirely different "Shooters" though.... Squad is supposed to be a military Simulator of sorts and Planetside is more of Battlefield/classic old Star wars battlefront type of feel too it.
I could look at doing that, but I am not sure if some of the tips in the video would help the PS4 population. This guide is very much aimed for the PC platform is all.

More than that by some of the PC guys uploading their YT content to the PS4 reddit would help some of us feel included as a whole rather than some forgotten part thereof and im sure by so doing you would pick up some additional subscribers :) Regardless long term subscriber here and always look forward to your latest upload, keep em coming :)
I die alot in this game but still ahve fun lol. Honestly the expierence alone is enough for me. Like when you and your team are in a big battle on a bridge or something its awsome just seeing explosions and bullets flying past you every where and knowing none of its scripted is good enough for me
This is a FPS + MMO + RTS type game and as such it attracts different types of players with different types of experience from each of those genres. Having played all three I can tell you that there are cultural differences between those games and Planetside that have little to do with the hard rules of the game. For example, if you're coming from an MMORPG like WoW, DDO, etc... and you're avoiding the Medic because "everyone blames the healer", don't worry about it. The medic class is a very different experience in Planetside (speaking as a former healer in both those games). If you're coming from a FPS like COD, spawn camping *is* allowed in Planetside 2. It's not going to get you kicked, but also don't rage quit when a sniper OHK's you as you run out of the spawn room. (I can already hear people typing their comments about that point and I haven't even posted yet, LOL). If you're coming from a RTS style game like Starcraft 2 you'll probably want to join a large outfit and play with them. Work your way up to lead a squad and then become a platoon leader where you'll be able call the play and implement larger scale strategies for 60+ players directly and your entire faction indirectly. Heads up though, playing squad leader can be an awful lot like playing a healer in an MMO with units that are stuck on 'very easy'. (I'm gonna burn for that joke! LOL).
@@CAMIKAZE78 As an inexperienced player myself, I should like to encourage you not to feel bad. Think of it like a fire necessary for forging a weaker player into something strong. That's how I choose to look at it, and it allows me to come away from every death with some kind of information.
I really hope this game stands up again side to side with Apex and the other bigs. i still remember when I was a kid, I played it laggy af, had a low pc, but dreamed of it. Now Imma play it on ps4. Bringing my friend and sharing the game as much as I can
I'm really bad at aiming so I've made myself only play the tomoe so if I don't get headshots I'm basically just slapping them with a super soaker. Needless to say I've been raging for the past week lol
Wanted to add another thing, if you spawn a vehicle but leave it, make sure you park it off to the side or a couple meters away from the spawn pad. It annoying to run into a vacant vehicle that's parked in the middle of the road and causes blockage.
Big tip: want to get kills as a new player? go NC heavy with SAW, it will kill anyone easy Is puting yourself in danger too hard? lobotomize yourself and use the phoenix from spawn room to steal kills from allied tanks without ever giving your enemies the chance to shoot you. Want to play with vehicles? the vanguard has an ability that lets you press F to instantly win any tank fight, and it straight up has more health and dammage than any other main battle tank. Is fighting on equal ground too hard? go NC MAX, it has the same killing potential as other maxes from afar but is even deadlier up close, in trouble? press F to activate the only MAX ability in the game that actualy helps you instead of making you more vunerable. But don't say that NC is overpowered and that the devs have an NC bias because a zerg of NC's will find you and lynch you for your opinion.
This was an extremely helpful, in-depth, well structured tips and tricks video, that ultimately helped me decide whether to install this game or not. That's a sub for me ^^
Here’s one a good tip someone taught me: You have to remember that you’re playing against other people, who like you, are cunning and adaptable. sometimes they’re really good and sometimes really coordinated; there will be times where they’ve thought of everything and there’s not much you can do. So don’t get mad, this will happen to everyone at some point. Just admire them for their amazing strategy instead. :)
Great vid, thanks. I may be off, but it seems to me like your rifle usage at 10:14 indicate that you should either turn off mouse acceleration in Windows 10, or raise your sense a little, since your aim isn't straight on the target instantly and then you compensate (well) afterwards.
Thanks for all the tips, man. It really helped me alot. I didn't know how to join squads or even that there was a VR weapon testing facility. It really gave me good information and I am certain it will help me enjoy the game more as a new player. By the way, I adore your Titanfall 2 background in the outro. Titanfall 2 is one of my top 3 favorite games of all time up there with Warframe and the original Star Wars: Battlefront series (and if you are curious, I am a Grapple main scrub). I want to get it for PC (I play it on XBox One atm) but I don't have Origin right now, but that may change in the future. Anyways, back to topic, I thank you tons for this video which I should've watched a earlier and hope the game lasts. Peace out.
Ant is a great way for new players to earn certs. Also 20% less damage from infantry is pretty huge. Learning about implants as soon as possible will give you a better understanding of why your always getting spotted or how some players are so tanky, read them and start missions that give you currency to buy some for yourself.
One caveat on the trick about using gravity lifts to avoid damage: The lift actually has to AFFECT you. If you just run over a "down" lift without jumping, you don't get the effect, and your ankles are not going to be happy if you take a long fall afterwards.
That's a well structured video with nice, simple Tipps. Good editing and stuff too, makes it fun to watch even for a vet like me. But dude, when it came to the more complex stuff like the lattice network it felt like you sped up your pace. I think it could be a bit confusing or hard to follow at some point for new players watching this (I'm only referring to the very end). Overall thanks for the effort of doing dbg job better at introducing /welcoming new players into the game. And most importantly clarifying how flat the learning curve actually is 😅👌
A suggestion to the whole "Don't buy weapons" buying a second burster max arm can be a fantastic choice if you find yourself enjoying the max play and being competent enough with it to not be too burdened by the resource cost. Same can be said for the AI and AT arms.
Generally i agree with all the points, however i think some tips need some more info to them: 1. factions: well yes but kinda no... the weapons are generally balanced. Far more important are 2 factors: 1. how the factions are performing on their servers. for example, on all servers combined, TR wins most alerts, but on cobalt VS wins most of the times, with balanced populations. 2. outfits(clans) and platoonleads: if they work together and organize better then those from the other factions, skilled gunplay etc. will not matter (or less). Play some time on one server and see if you can find an outfit you like. 2. always check yourself for fights with balanced populations. 3. This is probably the most crucial part of the game. Tactics and organization. There are typically 4 types of platoons/squad: 1. the ghost platoon. the leader has no mic and generally no interest/competence in leading. He wont speak and probably sit in a tank or camp on some hill. Often no outfit tag. 2. the zerg platoon. some very basic level of organization, huge in numbers, players of all levels. Some fun but often mindless horde 3. actual platoons. many guys with the same outfit tags (often discord or teamspeak), and the leaders give orders all the time via voice chat. not always open, experienced players. 4. private squads. small numbers, only clanmembers. sometimes a bunch of tryhards/elites with godlike aim capable of shredding entire squads. only way to defeat those is more pop. 13/14. Weapons: dont buy anything unless you have mastered the standards (at least gold medal). If you are bad with the standards your problem is probably elsewhere. The first certs should be used on the basic upgrades like engi tool. 16. HUD/supporter: yes but move carefully. i've seen noobs running cross the battlefield with medic applicator in their hand instead of a gun. "Situational awareness"... 28. we usually say backcap for when we are advancing to the next base but did not yet capture the cap point, so the enemy managed to get the cap point of his lost base back, which prevents us from capping the next base. Aside from that i think some other aspects are maybe even more essential to the game: -the genre: It is a combined arms, sandbox/openworld, first person shooter, mmo game with rpg elements. It makes the game unique, but compared to other mmo i think it is still somewhat casual. -situational awareness: it is not like any classic fps where the maps are closed, enemies can come from anywhere. That is especially true with snipers... always pay attention to your surrounding, campers are everywhere. -Farm: ps2 is a MEATGRINDER FOR NOOBS. It offers quite a lot of cheesy farming methods, and playing with people of all levels isnt making it easier. At the first 40 levels you might not see a positive k/d very often. Ways to prevent getting farmed: situational awareness, learn fps skill (crosshair placement, prefire, tapfire, movement) -performance/Hardware/settings: optimization is still somewhat poor, so checking guides for graphic settings can change a lot.
28. (14:39) Lattice links are the colored lines on the map from one territory to another. They are never really "cut" - they are always there. The only enemy territories that are available for your faction to capture are those that have lattice links to territories that your faction owns. Don't get stuck on being a medic or an engineer all the time. Try everything and have fun doing it!
Honestly don't play LA or HA if you have low framerate since you will get crushed. Play a pocket class like engie, medic, or just pull a sundy or something. High framerate is a must for winning engagements regardless of what anyone says since the person with 60 frames will always land their shots better than the person they are fighting who has 15-25 frames. Why? Because of aim twitch, strafing, and recoil patterns.
Use engineer. Most cert gains a short time. Ammo, repairs, minigun or tow launcher (infinite spawns and ammunition), and access to an anti tank rifle that ruins maxes.
I love this game and I started playing a week ago. All my friends have no Psplus so we had no game to play togheder. We loved this game and now we are a KILL team.
I gotta say I use to talk about hardware advantage all the time as a joke, saying stuff like "yee just buy 3000 dollar computer and then you have 10K/D ez game" and stuff like that, but recently I upgraded my computer hardware as well as bought a 144hz monitor, so I'm pulling really good FPS, and my K/D has significantly improved and I can actually track and aim effectively. Seriously, the ability to track moving targets and fire accurately at them is amplified by having a higher FPS and higher refresh rate.
0:33 CoD games: Hackers are ruining the new players experience therefore they leave multiplayer. Planetside: Tryhards are ruining the new players experience therefore they leave period. (no campaign) The bar has never been set so low in games. Glad these tryhards felt the frustration of playing with absolutely NOBODY and found themselves ghost capping for years. May this have served as a valuable lesson.
1:16 Yeah those all went out the window. NC now has insane accurate and power, TR has insane firerate and power, and the VS have been nerfed a bunch. NC tends to win because of population, TR wins with brute force at times, and VS wins with strats and communication. TR tend to be hot tempered and get pissed fairly quick, NC act weird but can be a fun bunch, and VS are a blast to battle with, we just focus on having fun, and we always say "Where there is fights, there's certs!". We will even take our whole platoon to an area we arent even close to just to mess with the other two factions and have fun. And tbh, I would rather trade decent weapons for having a blast like I do with VS any day.
Nothing says Welcome to Planetside better than twelve HESHes blowing you to smithereens through a window the size of an average E.coli three minutes post-tutorial.
Hey cami, i'm old player i didnt get far into the game back then but I'm on briggs. Do you recommend I just remake on Conran server? I have had a few good times on Briggs the last week, especially on the weekend. But am I missing out of the real big boy fights? Ping is always a fear, I usually get 300ms to america servers since bad location in australia. Does how badly does it affect the gameplay
31 you can not capture or overload a base which isn't on the frontline or the backwards owned base is save from enemies. Very frustrating when you don't know why you can't cap based
Crucial tip that changed Planetside 2 entirely for me is : Headshots and lag compensation. When you want to burst someone down, headshots are your best friend, but extra knowledge on networking also applies to other games. When I was a noob, the excuse I always use is P2W guns and cheaters whenever I got bursted down super fast in an equal 1-on-1 gun fight. That is until I tried to git gud, go for more headshots and learn about lag compensation. Demonstration at 3:05 in Wrel's video: ua-cam.com/video/CZccuvkrB9I/v-deo.html

I started playing 3 days ago and I just play infiltrator, sit back with my bolt action, cloak, find a target, snipe him, cloak again, move positions, find another target snipe him, and so on and so forth lol. Been getting hundreds of kills like that XD
Well played mate! Welcome to Auraxis, glad to hear you are enjoying your time in the game!
Yes it's like I always have said. Snipers have a high tolerance for boredom.
i love this game. i signed up 2 days ago and am so addicted, ive been playing it for hours and hours non-stop
yeah i die a LOTTTTTTTTTTTT but its just part of the fun, the battles are so crazy madness you just dont care, just wait for a medic or respawn and jump back in. its brilliant i love it
GG Cami, amazing tips for new players!
Big thanks Faber, appreciate it mate :)

Perfect video. All the key information I was thinking of came up. Definitely will share this with friends who get into the game!
Thanks mate, really glad the video ticked all the boxes! Appreciate the feedback!
This is a great resource, I've sent this and a couple of other videos of yours and videos from Cyrious to a few of my new friends and they thought they were wonderful tools. Thanks for this, you're doing a true service to players who are just starting out.
I haven't played this game in 4 years I'm coming back to it tonight. Thanks for the tips I needed a refresher for it
I've been feeling so overwhelmed. Thank you so much
Tip: Your Light assault rocklet rifle has flak detonation, but you have to lead targets carefully.
+you can fire a volley (the entire magazine) with right click
Jackhammer/Battle Rifle is my favorite loadout. Just fun.
Couldn't agree more man, it is nasty!

This is an EXCELLENT tip video for new guys!
Well done, sir!
Cheers from a fellow PS2 veteran!
I like to play as medic and my main vehicle is the flash on attacks so I can speed towards downed allies
Light assault/knock off odst is pretty fun, find yourself a good valk crew and just drop in and take some names
Ima flash c4 bomber... loving the thrill of the almost-suicide attack.
“Planetside 2 is one of the hardest shooters on the market to get into.”
Squad: Am I a joke to you?
Yeah look, good ole Squad is certainly up there too :’)
I mean... they are 2 entirely different "Shooters" though.... Squad is supposed to be a military Simulator of sorts and Planetside is more of Battlefield/classic old Star wars battlefront type of feel too it.
tip 31 - Watch the rest of camis videos for the rundown on everything planetside 2.. gg cami!
Cheers mate, really kind of you! Will be doing some more up to date vids guides very soon!
Cami you should post this on the PS4 subreddit, new players on console would also benefit
UA-cam creators dont care about ps2 players. Trust me .they see our population as "tiny/irrelevant "
I could look at doing that, but I am not sure if some of the tips in the video would help the PS4 population. This guide is very much aimed for the PC platform is all.
@@CAMIKAZE78 Whilst there are a couple of guys that upload YT content and post to PS4 reddit, in particular Flxvrm Gucci, their content is mostly game play rather than tips and guides. We have much the same problems as PC including new player retension and your tips and tricks guide certainly has a number of points that cross over and are relevant on both platforms.

Well done Cami. And welcome back to PlanetSide. Since you are on Connery now, stop by at NWYT (NC) and say hi.

I die alot in this game but still ahve fun lol. Honestly the expierence alone is enough for me. Like when you and your team are in a big battle on a bridge or something its awsome just seeing explosions and bullets flying past you every where and knowing none of its scripted is good enough for me
I'm just commenting to say I love the video and love this game!
LOL).
60+? Don't you mean 48? Or is there an update I missed that changed something about this....... This happens a lot......
@@SticksInStilts is it 48? My bad. I only ever play solo so don't really know.
i almost feel bad for hesh farming new players...almost
We have have a side that is keen on some cheeky farming... but I do feel pretty bad about it a lot.
@@CAMIKAZE78 As an inexperienced player myself, I should like to encourage you not to feel bad. Think of it like a fire necessary for forging a weaker player into something strong. That's how I choose to look at it, and it allows me to come away from every death with some kind of information.
i never feel bad for c4ing hesh farmers :P
I feel the same when i go Solo Spur farming and get tiny tina to shout ”kill all the babies!!” (Gotta love recursion)
I really hope this game stands up again side to side with Apex and the other bigs. i still remember when I was a kid, I played it laggy af, had a low pc, but dreamed of it. Now Imma play it on ps4. Bringing my friend and sharing the game as much as I can
Glad Im seeing a lot of these newer intros to planetside, the games had a resurgence with the direct x patch. Good video
15:37 love how you just held that trigger down lol. Peak NC roleplaying xD
I upvote all Planetside 2 videos.
PS2 client : How much FOV do you want?
CAMIKAZE : Yes
You should almost always play on high fov
Always aim for the head... ALWAYS AIM FOR THE DAMN HEAD!!!! 🤣
Enemies go down so much faster since I learnt that. It's not the weapon that's bad, you just gotta aim up
Nah, in a large battle, torso is fine. You'll likely land more hits, and your allies can follow-up. Aim for what you can reliably hit.
Big tip: want to get kills as a new player? go NC heavy with SAW, it will kill anyone easy
Is puting yourself in danger too hard? lobotomize yourself and use the phoenix from spawn room to steal kills from allied tanks without ever giving your enemies the chance to shoot you.
Here in mid-2023. It's still crazy fun that always tricks you into burning a lot of time playing. Thanks for the vid.
Excellent Beginner's Tips & Tricks!
This was an extremely helpful, in-depth, well structured tips and tricks video, that ultimately helped me decide whether to install this game or not. That's a sub for me ^^
man your gameplay in the intro is so fucking good, i can barelly go 5 seconds in a small battle without dying lol
Yo this video helped me a lot actually. GOOD JOB explaining my dude.
finally remember to shoot with your weapon
Here’s one a good tip someone taught me:
You have to remember that you’re playing against other people, who like you, are cunning and adaptable. sometimes they’re really good and sometimes really coordinated; there will be times where they’ve thought of everything and there’s not much you can do.
Peace out.
I'll summarize the entire video into one sentence:
"Always try to be flanking"
The problem is everyone is trying to do the same. So while you're trying to flank there's a sniper waiting for you to come around.
Ant is a great way for new players to earn certs. Also 20% less damage from infantry is pretty huge. Learning about implants as soon as possible will give you a better understanding of why your always getting spotted or how some players are so tanky, read them and start missions that give you currency to buy some for yourself.
Nice cami. New guide was needed
Great vid mate!
Congratulations! Integration of your and Commander Curious videos to the game launcher!
One caveat on the trick about using gravity lifts to avoid damage: The lift actually has to AFFECT you. If you just run over a "down" lift without jumping, you don't get the effect, and your ankles are not going to be happy if you take a long fall afterwards.
Great job on this vid! :D
And most importantly clarifying how flat the learning curve actually is 😅👌
Thank you so much for this video! I am loving the game so much but want to learn the nuances better so I can be more effective.
A suggestion to the whole "Don't buy weapons" buying a second burster max arm can be a fantastic choice if you find yourself enjoying the max play and being competent enough with it to not be too burdened by the resource cost. Same can be said for the AI and AT arms.
I still would recommend if you play a Terran republic heavy assault to buy the watchman that thing is a god gun.
I think the TR have the best stock guns but once you get into unlocks they start to get nerfed.
Excellent presentation!
Generally i agree with all the points, however i think some tips need some more info to them:
1. factions: well yes but kinda no... the weapons are generally balanced.
There are typically 4 types of platoons/squad:
1. the ghost platoon. the leader has no mic and generally no interest/competence in leading. He wont speak and probably sit in a tank or camp on some hill. Often no outfit tag.
2. the zerg platoon. some very basic level of organization, huge in numbers, players of all levels. Some fun but often mindless horde
3. actual platoons. many guys with the same outfit tags (often discord or teamspeak), and the leaders give orders all the time via voice chat. not always open, experienced players.
4. private squads. small numbers, only clanmembers. sometimes a bunch of tryhards/elites with godlike aim capable of shredding entire squads. only way to defeat those is more pop.
Aside from that i think some other aspects are maybe even more essential to the game:
-the genre: It is a combined arms, sandbox/openworld, first person shooter, mmo game with rpg elements.
Ways to prevent getting farmed: situational awareness, learn fps skill (crosshair placement, prefire, tapfire, movement)
-performance/Hardware/settings: optimization is still somewhat poor, so checking guides for graphic settings can change a lot.
Great quick video Bro!
DrtySanchez
Honestly don't play LA or HA if you have low framerate since you will get crushed. Play a pocket class like engie, medic, or just pull a sundy or something. High framerate is a must for winning engagements regardless of what anyone says since the person with 60 frames will always land their shots better than the person they are fighting who has 15-25 frames. Why? Because of aim twitch, strafing, and recoil patterns.
You forgot the most important one... AIM for the head... the TTK difference between head and body shots is to great to not be trying for headshots.
10:20 I don't recognize that area. Where are you in the VR?
Good tips, bro!
ayyy tip #2!
hello! I love your content
So far very impressed with this one. Very very Indepth, old tribes 2 vibes. So far I've only played engineer
thanks for the tips i always use them and i never die
I gotta say I use to talk about hardware advantage all the time as a joke, saying stuff like "yee just buy 3000 dollar computer and then you have 10K/D ez game" and stuff like that, but recently I upgraded my computer hardware as well as bought a 144hz monitor, so I'm pulling really good FPS, and my K/D has significantly improved and I can actually track and aim effectively. Seriously, the ability to track moving targets and fire accurately at them is amplified by having a higher FPS and higher refresh rate.
The best game your friends have never heard of.
0:33 CoD games: Hackers are ruining the new players experience therefore they leave multiplayer.
Planetside: Tryhards are ruining the new players experience therefore they leave period. (no campaign)
The bar has never been set so low in games. Glad these tryhards felt the frustration of playing with absolutely NOBODY and found themselves ghost capping for years. May this have served as a valuable lesson.
Thank you for these awsome tips
Thanks. Really helps out.
Wow. Well done!
tips and a beginners guide in one video... I HAVE ONLY SEEN THIS STRENGTH BEFORE
1:16 Yeah those all went out the window.
I'll take all the credit for 11. Thank you very much

Ping is always a fear, I usually get 300ms to america servers since bad location in australia. Does how badly does it affect the gameplay
How is the player population divided up? Do 1 of the 3 factions have way more or way less players than the other 2?
On the US East server it's pretty even across all 3 factions.
@@keyserv2 And I think it depends on time of day.

22. Armour plates doesn't matter. Matters angle from which you shoot at enemy vehicle
Can someone please tell me what the name of the weapon with the magazine attached to the side is? Big thank you!
31 you can not capture or overload a base which isn't on the frontline or the backwards owned base is save from enemies. Very frustrating when you don't know why you can't cap based
10:10 where is that firing range?!
The VR room i know doesn’t have one like that!
In the Koltyr VR, not the VR training!
