Can you imagine the outcry there would be if this event was in London? There would be global climate warming change protestors all over the place, all threatening fire and brimstone with pure vial hatred in their voices. How awe-inspiring it is to see an entire country welcome and celebrate these wonderful old cars being driven and enjoyed in the manner in which they were designed to be. Absolutely marvelous. Italy is an example to the rest of the world. This was just heavenly to watch. Thank You Harry.

Well, that was a glorious hour! I even watched it on the big telly in the living room, and the wife seemed to enjoy it too. Much appreciated, Harry, as always.
I never drive through France to get there. Tunnel, Belgium, Germany, Austria, Italy is my preferred way. Return - Monaco, Route napoleon, Reims, Calais back...
For anyone who hasnt been to Mille Miglia - I had done both the finish at Brescia and also a stage stay over in Bologna: both we amazing. There is a super great atmosphere. Brescia centre where they finish is beautiful so that is a nice place to see it end. Bologna is an amazing city and actually you got closer to the cars - the first finishers stay in Piazza Maggiore in a sectioned area but the overspill drive through the streets and most areas have no barriers so you can literally high 5 the drivers and see the cars up close. If you love old cars then this is the Mecca and to see them being driven and some of them driven hard too is awesome. Loved this episode Harry!
I am from Brazil but lived in L A in the 80´s . Was there from 1980 to 89,was april 85 when i bought one red Alfa Spider 78. Never had so much fun with any car ever since. Was way cool driving this convertible up and down the coast, girls loved it ...Wish could go back in time.
Duetto is sounding lovely. About 50 minutes in - "we're at the top of the Futa pass... just entering the cloud now, and my window winder has come off" - made me chuckle. Gearbox oil could be coming from the top of the gear lever turret.
Harry’s done all the work, imparted a heap of information while we’ve enjoyed the experience in comfort. It doesn’t get much better than that. Thank you Harry!!
Those AMG's were being driven terribly and in some cases dangerously. Hopefully someone has a word before they get the event a bad name. Brilliant vid as usual Harry. Excellent content time after time is also why I subscribed to EVO all those years ago.
GREAT video, thanks. I've subscribed for just two or three years now and these are always a delight. This, during our New York City stay-at-home/work-from-home endurance race vs an insidious virus, really picked up my spirits. I've been to Italy twice. Both visits included Siena and the Val d'Orcia: Seggiano, Montalcino and, further north up the SR2, Tenuta la Campana, a lovely agriturismo in the Crete Senesi between Monteroni d'Arbia and Asciano. As such, I was able to very quickly - per road signs behind you - Google-map your exact spot on the roadside where the SR2 meets the SP24 to Radicofani. Great stuff. When I was a teen in the 1970s my Dad for a good long time had a Fiat 124 Spider. Great memories.
That was great Harry. I'm glad you posted this. Italy is definitely one of the most beautiful countries in the world. A neighbor of mine in San Diego had one of these Alfa spyders, back in the 80s. She loved that car and took good care of it. She took me somewhere in it once and it was great fun riding in it. Never got to drive it.
Sirmione - where I proposed to my wife in 1998 having driven there in my TVR Chimaera. The Italians loved the TVR. We also sat in Sienna and watched some of the Mille Miglia race go by. I'd also love to see the Palio di Siena one day.
One of your best ever videos, Harry - Molto Bella! I almost felt like a passenger in your little Alfa Spider; roaring along those glorious Italian roads. The streets of Sienna and the city centre with all the cars parked up - Bellissima!
I'm loving this channel. Mr Tyrrell, It's so nice to see your experience, knowledge and dry whittled English humour. You say it as you see and know it. You actually get engineering by sound, knowledge and feel without needing to plug and play. There's no "look at me" nor a flogging of sponsorship.. So, from a chap in Australia 🦘 I say thanks mate 👍
Excellent! Thank you. I’ve not done the Mille Miglia but I’m fortunate to have driven 1,500 KMS from the bottom of Garda over the Stelvio and around the lakes in a 1971 Alfa. Best road trip ever!!
Great video, Harry. Thanks. I got to persuade the wife now that it’s a great time and place for a holiday. I’ll tell her about the Mille after we get there
Off the scale video, fantastic tour round the whole circus and route. Super, personal and knowledgeable "guide". What more could we ask for? The BBC could never do it this well. Thank you, Harry.
When I drive to Italy I go through Belgium, Germany and Switzerland, the extra distance is made up for by the lower tolling and of course Autobahn! Even taking into account the Swiss Vignette it's cheaper than using the French autoroutes.
Fabulous! Thank you Harry. Takes me back - followed some of the Mille Miglia in a Ferrari 400 some 30 years ago. As you say, a fabulous festival. Your tips about how to prepare are spot on.
New viewer here-I really felt like I was there in Italy and the birds-eye view of the classic car event is wonderful. Beautifully done. Total escape, which is welcome at this time. I particularly appreciate your down-to-Earth, friendly, unsnobby personality-Sharing your enjoyment of your cars without rubbing it in the viewers’ faces.
Love the channel - so much more than the usual car enthusiast content and your reviews are simply the best. Very enriching to dive around Europe with you. Reminds me that the love of cars is universal and is something that unites people across the globe. Can only describe you as the gentleman cognoscenti extraordinaire and thanks for sharing as I know how time and effort goes into setting up to film and scouting locations for shots and waiting for lighting conditions to improve.
Hi Harry. Loved it. Thank you for the tip, been meaning to do this for a while, not so easy with young children who throw up in cars.. Wish the video was longer. Brilliant, thank you again.
The cars Harry shows and the pace of the reviews coupled with his knowledge make his reviews unmissable. I’ve never even heard of many of the cars he shows. Terrific!!!
Whenever I watch any Harry’s Garage (or Harry’s Farm) videos, I can’t help but think how my dad would never have watched anything else! Huge car and motorsport fan from a farming background. Didn’t live to see the internet age, sadly. Please keep the videos coming, Harry and co. 👍🏻
Thank you once again for a real review with a down to earth feeling of the rally. And yes I think modern stuff maybe ruin a bit the feeling of the rally, even more then they are overtaking with no respect for the classic cars... But anyway a real dream to do a trip like this through Italy spotting Mille Miglia, big thanks for this long format video to approach the very best of Italy, and the Duetto, perfect car for the business!
Great video. My wife and I drove down and spectated on the Mille Miglia on five occasions in our 1938 MG TA. We treated it as our annual holiday for a two week trip. Each time we went completely different ways down but were always within 50 miles of a 2850 mile total. I would say that it can be done much cheaper than Harry suggests if you avoid tolls (except in some parts of Italy) and stay in budget hotels which, other than in Brescia, we booked on the fly. I am afraid that we were also alarmed at the crazy driving that we witnessed mostly in expensive modern cars on factory organised tours. However the fastest guys that we saw on one occasion on the Futa Pass were in a MIni Moke which was being driven absolutely on the limit after the main circus had passed through. I can also recommend that another event which is worth a visit is the Vernasca Silver Flag near Parma. Less hectic but very enjoyable.
Many thanks for this lovely moments from the MMs. I have been to Italy so many times but I could never get tired of these beautiful landscapes and these cool cities, thanks again Harry. You are lucky to have a waterproof hood because mine was far from this, my girl friend being forced to open an umbrella inside during big thunderstorms ahahaha. I miss my Spider.
Perhaps an electric fuel pump to fill the bowls when you switch they key on and eliminate the vapor lock. It may save your starter. Slight modification may make it much more enjoyable.
Agreed, other than concerns for originality's sake. I pulled the starter on my Alfa 7 times in a year, once. Lived young and broke in a hot country once, but still drove an Alfa !
When Harry goes a little quiet and smiles, you know he is in a happy place and has a handful of performance car 😊. Great video Harry, love how we get to ‘feel’ the sound through your microphone. 👍🏻
Nice video, as always. Best shot is the landscape around the 32:07 mark. Doesn't get more Tuscan than that. A tip to make your video's better is to look into a camera gimbal. Makes the handheld shots, like in Sienna, more professional and easier on the eys.
Agreed. and Harry I'd happily take your car to wherever you want it taken whether that's to Italy, all across Siberia to Vladivostok, all the way down Africa to Cape Town, all down the America's to Ushuaia...or even to re-create the London to Sydney route!
I will never get to see the beauty of Italy or experience the exciting Mille Miglia in person, so thanks Harry, to you and your Mrs. , for taking me along with your vacation adventure.
It's taken me eight months to sit down and watch this vid, I'm sad I didn't do it earlier. Thanks for bringing us along for the ride Harry it looks seriously awesome!
Great video to watch on a Sunday evening. Meal and a few glasses of wine. Better than any Hollywood movie. Loved seeing the Healey 3000. Made the day for me. Thanks.
I thought I had seen all Harry's garage videos, But I missed this one, very nice to see and hear more about this historic race. Nice to see where you spent the night. Beautiful places.

I'm 45 seconds in and I'm just going to go ahead and give this a thumbs up.
I stopped the video and did it in 4 secs!!! That's how sure i am!
I give Harry’s videos a thumbs up straight away! I’ve never had to reassess and de-thumb
The problem with doing that is that you will get to the end, try to give it another thumbs up and be annoyed that you can't.
I might be a big ole softie. I had tears in my eyes, watching your video. The passion you have, the beautiful old cars, the MM. Thaank you Harry!
Sirmione - one of my favourite places. Great video thanks!
Liked it before the video even started. It's an Alfa. Who wouldn't like this video?!!
Those AMG's were being driven terribly and in some cases dangerously. Hopefully someone has a word before they get the event a bad name.
Brilliant vid as usual Harry. Excellent content time after time is also why I subscribed to EVO all those years ago.
hahaha, thise w.c.cars!
Completely out of space
Love to see old classics on the road. Love the fact that you are willing to make a vid as long as it needs to be about an hour perfect
That's my Italian holiday, where to next. After each video my bucket list gets longer!! Thank you for sharing your jollies
Those modern cars are just out of place there.
drumtum :!seriously out of place.
Ummmm... weren't all of those classic cars 'modern cars' at one point?
@@nathjefferies5712 You're a moron.
I get no pleasure from looking at them
With every video of yours I watch, it reminds me how lucky I was to stumble upon this gem of a channel.
I'm glad you mentioned Stirling Moss' and Jenks sensational drive. To read the full story simply boggles the mind. Unimaginable !
Great video Harry - thanks for the upload. My beloved Italy ❤️🇮🇹
Dapper Gent Beautiful part of the world.
Sirmione - where I proposed to my wife in 1998 having driven there in my TVR Chimaera. The Italians loved the TVR. We also sat in Sienna and watched some of the Mille Miglia race go by. I'd also love to see the Palio di Siena one day.
TVR 😍
One of your best ever videos, Harry - Molto Bella! I almost felt like a passenger in your little Alfa Spider; roaring along those glorious Italian roads. The streets of Sienna and the city centre with all the cars parked up - Bellissima!
One of the best car related vids i have seen from anybody
Loved every minute of this video, thanks for sharing your adventure in such a lovely classic Alfa Romeo..
I'm loving this channel.
Mr Tyrrell,
It's so nice to see your experience, knowledge and dry whittled English humour.
You say it as you see and know it. You actually get engineering by sound, knowledge and feel without needing to plug and play.
There's no "look at me" nor a flogging of sponsorship..
So, from a chap in Australia 🦘 I say thanks mate 👍
Wonderful, just made me late for work because I cannot wait to watch Harry's Garage. "More videos coming along very soon." I am holding you to that.
Excellent!
I’ll tell her about the Mille after we get there
Pure enthusiasm. Zero pretention. Love it!
I love how Harry does long videos, worth every minute. Love it Harry, Italy looks just fantastic .
Alfa my favourite mark by far
Sir Harry, you produce motor kar videis that generate admiration for your taste and love for all top kars.
Spot on, you are !
Harry - ‘Our man in Siena’ 👍🏼👌🏼🍝
Harry knows a thing or two about locations, nicely extracted and written down for my future use. Cheers Harry ……
Hats off to this great man and his trips!
Siena was Spectacular!! Would love to take part in this Iconic Rally some day.....
Terrific!!!
ill keep this in mind next time i truck my 6 cars to italy :)
........
This MoFo is absolutely insane, and I mean that in the best way. NO ONE does a better car VLOG. No one. Period.
Absolutely fantastic!! Recently discovered the channel and am IN LOVE. Thank you Harry!
Fantastic video Harry. This should be an annual event for your Channel. I enjoyed it very much. Thank you.
An orgy of vintage and current automotive beauty! Thanks Harry
An hour long Harry vid...fantastic! Planning on driving my Giulia Super down to Rome next month for a vid too 🙂
Do it mate!! Loved the review of your super
@@karlnotely1194 thank you! Glad you enjoyed it 🙂
When Harry goes a little quiet and smiles, you know he is in a happy place and has a handful of performance car 😊.
I do particularly enjoy the commentry of what you see. Most entertaining
"slogging across France". Oh Harry, I'll do that for you. :-)
Agreed. and Harry I'd happily take your car to wherever you want it taken whether that's to Italy, all across Siberia to Vladivostok, all the way down Africa to Cape Town, all down the America's to Ushuaia...or even to re-create the London to Sydney route!
I will never get to see the beauty of Italy or experience the exciting Mille Miglia in person, so thanks Harry, to you and your Mrs. , for taking me along with your vacation adventure.
I'm jealous, that would be the perfect adventure trip for me
It's taken me eight months to sit down and watch this vid, I'm sad I didn't do it earlier. Thanks for bringing us along for the ride Harry it looks seriously awesome!
“Another car that shrunk in the wash.” LOL
Fantastic bit of travel journalism for car lovers. Thanks, Harry!
Ive been looking forward to this since you mentioned this trip! An Alfa Spider and the Mille Miglia, whats not to like.
Great video to watch on a Sunday evening. Meal and a few glasses of wine. Better than any Hollywood movie. Loved seeing the Healey 3000. Made the day for me. Thanks.
Wonderful clips. Enjoyed your enthusiasm. Thank you. Viva Alfa Romeo!
Thank you for sharing I'm so happy to see Italy's people who are classic car crazy and have a great time.
A brilliant informative guide to following the Mille Miglia - thank you, Harry. I love your Duetto but I am also distracted by your mate’s 964 C2 😍
You can have the porker - I'll take the duetto anytime - its so beautiful!
What a splendid video Harry, your videos are so interesting. Italy plus wonderful old cars what a combination. Thanks.
Thanks Harry. This was fantastic, like being there myself. Extremely well done!
Wish to see an agricultural update this year too.

Thanks Harry, old-timer here in northern Thailand enjoying your travel-log 3 years later!
@39:27 is an Alfa Romeo 1900 Barchetta, driven (probably) by Robin Steutel.
I love the passion from all these owners of these fab cars, keeping these historic vehicles on the road.
Nice! You do have great videos...this is now on my life list of must experience.
I thought I had seen all Harry's garage videos, But I missed this one, very nice to see and hear more about this historic race. Nice to see where you spent the night. Beautiful places.
Thank you for this great review. Love the Alfa Duetto!
One hour well spent. Thank you Harry- first class content, immense fun.
