    I have been desperate enough to find and use so many fabulous methods to reduce my suffering and unburden myself. This work has provided me the biggest leap yet. It's radical!!/ so perfect for the time that we are in. We don't have time to do the same old same old, One worksheet that I did about my mom brought me to see her in a way that I never thought possible We are still estranged on the material level, no matter what, I am restored to is my own heart. I love that nature provides us with the remedy for all ills. It's a choice we make whether to make use of them. And we're all doing the best we can. When I feel down, just watching her work with another person is so healing.

    just listening, and doing what i can as if i were in the audience or in the hot seat, recognizing myself (lack thereof), pulling the plug on so much old junk that's been running a negative feedback loop in the background...i am sitting at my desk, making calls, setting appointments and listening to this... i can be successful in one arena and still feel abject failure ... all due to no inquiry... no consciousness about the emotional faker that is hiding behind a headset and facing the wall so no one can see me... yet i see me through a glass darkly... and now the light is coming on... thankyou for posting this.

      a similar term occured to me, called it the "inflamed ego", yes, between Tolle & Katie's work, they patiently keep coming back to certain themes, becuz they are foundational themes, once we recognize the egos game, tactics (& the fact that "it" doesn't do surrender to what is, or acceptance, which is Kryptonite to the well fed ego) that carries over to all other false assumptions, our superimposing of concepts, like the difference between looking at a map of a terrain or actually hiking the trail.

    The point of the "I look forward to" turnarounds is, that if you don't want to feel these stressful thoughts, you're most likely going to try to oppress them... which will cause them to do their harm out of that place of yourself you don't want to access resp. feel...

    At the end around 1:49:40 she says "You get to meet Kathy for the first time." I realized how much I take a fear (imaginary) and operate from that place (the dream) as if the person will react again the way they did in the past. I put them in locked away in a moment in time...and react from there. Sometimes that moment has nothing to do with them. But they never get out....and then I think they don't notice I did that to them (judged them). Boy was this good....

However, I can share some resources other than Loving what is by BK that enhanced my understanding. I subscribed to Todd Smith's weekly free 30 mins sessions and Earnest Holmes Svendsen videos. Pam Bennett, maybe it's so that you can honor them without guilt. That you can love them fully with just the memory of them and who they are, a task that you couldn't/wouldn't have allowed yourself to do if they were alive? Just thoughts obviously but I hope you do the work on this and find relief from suffering. I was afraid before I started because I was telling myself I would make myself suffer more and I could not handle that. This wasn't true for me at all, it was the opposite.

      If it is about the noises that u talking about, then there is this technique that BK shared once in one of her videos. She just says thank-you to every thought that arises once u have asked the question. And she would repeat the question again and sit in it. Also, I remember one of the transcript from her book Loving What Is, where the guy comments that although in the beginning he could not go within(answers felt more like mental) but after some questions from JYN he felt that he could go inside. Even I use to face this issue very often esp, if the work that I was doing was on something fresh so the reactions would be fresh too and the intensity would be high too however, few questions later things start making sense.

    Can someone PLEASE answer me? 5 years ago when I was in my 20s, I self medicated and drank a LOT. One night I was leaving a club very drunk and was about to drive away when a very ANNOYING friend of mine jumped into the passenger seat and grabbed my keys. She drove me home in my car and when I woke up I started to cry as I know that she saved my life. She's an angel. Now if she had followed BK's advice she would have said "I want her to drink and drive". This can be DANGEROUS information guys.. I'm just saying.. please help me understand what I'm not seeing as I'm living proof that it's OK and encouraged to speak up. Cheers.

    • @stellarmotion
      @stellarmotion 7 років тому +8

      Hi Liz! While I don't know exactly how your friend's worksheet may have looked, I would imagine it's something like:
      I'm concerned with Liz because she is going to drink and drive.
      I want Liz to be sober when she is driving, and hand over her keys when she is drinking.
      Looking at possible turnarounds, "Liz isn't going to drink and drive," "I am going to drink and drive," etc... in recognizing that the Liz she's feeling negative emotion at hasn't driven yet but is only imagined, her mind might clarify to realize that the statement that you're going to drink and drive is impossible to predict, and that other factors may come to pass which result in you not driving. So when asking "is it true that Liz is going to drink and drive," she could find a "no" and release her negative emotion on the subject, getting her mind instantly more clear.
      In statement two, the more obscure turnaround would look like "I don't want Liz to be sober when driving and hand over her keys when she drinks." In looking for examples, she may find that as the scenario plays out in her mind, she gets to be indignant, self-righteous or heroic, which would be her payoff for your drinking behavior. But she may also find that this turnaround is not one that she can relate to, and there is not value in it for her. It's exploration.
      Another turnaround is "I want me to be sober when I am driving..." at which point she could realize that as a sober person she is equipped to give herself something she wants: a night in which she drives sober and you don't drive drunk. All the power to get what she wants is right there and the side effects are yours and everyone's to reap.
      I'm not a teacher or ambassador for The Work, but I just pulled this scenario out of my imagination. It's possible that your friend had a thought process like this in a split second and immediately knew it would be good for her if she drive you even if she was not doing The Work.

    • @jackdawcaw4514
      @jackdawcaw4514 7 років тому +9

      I think you're looking at it the wrong way (ok, maybe there's no wrong, etc. ;) ). The point here is to look at all the possibilities and consider how there might be something to them as well. Seeing that no thing is necessarily absolutely bad or good. Why might I want my friend to drink and drive? Well, certainly not because I want them dead. But I might want it because they might get into a mild accident and learn something from it. Or because, apparently, it's what they need to do in this life. I cannot possibly control what others do. I can attempt to control, or help, but I don't have direct influence since the other side needs to be open to my correction - so it's on them in the end. So why would I want them to drink and drive? Maybe because apparently that's what they have to do, and I'm better off being ok with reality than fighting it. That is NOT saying that this is the absolute position you need to take, and it's not about good or bad. There's no actual 'dangerous thinking' here - they are just thoughts, you won't go crazy for thinking them and you don't have to believe them. The whole point is simply to consider different perspectives, and really consider them, really look at them, give them honest air time. That's how I see it anyway.

      I totally agree with what you said but if you look at 1:18:10 she says "I don't want Kathy to stop medicating" and BK says "it's about trusting another persons path in that moment". That's where I raised an eyebrow. If in my case my friend had thought the same way she would have allowed me to drink and drive so I could "learn a lesson". I think it's too extreme as I learned my lesson and I didn't have to drink and drive to learn it! I say if a friend is drinking themselves into a depression or even death, always try to do something and don't give up. Don't make it about you but don't give up either, you might be the only person who cares. It's about doing it for the right reasons. Regardless, I don't like the mindset of letting people self harm without at least trying to stop them or letting them know you are there.

    I’m amazed that this lady has been able to build an empire based upon this concept. “Enlightenment guru” is I guess the appeal. Clearly Katie believes her own press and who wouldn’t be happy 24/7 with all those fans, fame & $?
    That’s why her success is limited to America. Because the other people of the world would recognize this for what it is: a form of New Age CBT.
    The idea that there is no bad or good is a slippery slope leading into Luciferianism. (Read her statements about Hitler and throwing Jewish babies into the fire.) No matter what this “guru” teaches people, that’s pure evil and we should NOT strive to be “okay” with that or pretend Hitler was some “great teacher.” Hogwash. Pure Luciferianism. New Age Lies all tied up in a little white box that you can buy and pay Byron Katie for instead of seeking the living God for all your joy, answers, healing.

      What? Her version? Of course not!
      Re-read my post. “The work” is Nothing more than cognitive behavioral therapy reinvented under a new name (“the work”)
      Katie just copied others REAL work.
      But you are certainly welcome to follow her around and attend all her meetings and spend as much money as you want to pretending that she is the most enlightened guru of the age. 💰💰💰
      She still knows absolutely nothing about healing, deliverance, or Jesus Christ - and never will because she thinks she is “it.“
      NEW AGE CRAP, And it will lead nowhere except to a very dark place void of ❤️

      @@beckyweaver5981 to say nothing that exists is good or bad is Eastern spiritual philosophy, the Tao, dark and light, as above so below, yin and yang. The lotus grows in mud and filth, couldn't exist without it. A concept way older and practiced by millions than is Christianity. Though you have every right to your white, Ango-saxon Americanized views, many don't buy or love the jealous-God theory.

      well, miss Betchky, Katie or Tolle don't claim to not use previous methods or teachings, here is the difference, the experience of going beyond ego is like a born again surrender of ego, see, i could compare your biblical Lucifer to a god like ego, or, the ego as the liar & father of all lies.
      anyone can cut & paste new age ideas, but without the realization, the experience, born of suffering, they wouldn't know how to separate the wheat from the chaff.
      it's the same with all those old so-called christian t.v. preachers, the ones that haven't surrendered their egos & fell prey to fame, adulation, adultery, drink- drugs, $ ,power, & no one to be held accountable to, except their lord?
      does that mean there are no solid christian preachers anywhere?
      ur perspective is maybe fine for u, but read the comments, for Tolle & Katie, people who have been saved from their oppressive enslaving egos, people like myself who used to drink heavily, quit for a time, a year, or 3 (that was my record) & yet keep going back,even though it was killing me, i didn't know how to question my ego, the voice in my head that caused so much unnecessary anxiety, didn't even know, really, that that was possible, they set an example.
      & as far as $ goes, (i don't know about Katie,i could google) but Tolles finances are public record, no scandals, no fancy lifestyle (other than the resorts where he has given lectures) he lives in a condo in Vancouver, but all of his & Katies teachings are free all over youtube. FREE to EVERYONE, & when Tolle dies, the $ will go to spread the teachings & Tolle has spoken about starting schools & organizations to help people learn to overcome their egoic, judgemental conditioning.🌱🐾👣🌿🕊️🙏🏼🌎💌
