    It is the most expensive but I used Westar before and it had to be replaced later.

    Would this video be more helpful if I added another video of me actually replacing the motor mount on the engine?

    Thank you for the vid! did your engine seem to vibrate more than normal when you started the vehicle as well? if yes, was there any improvement after you replaced the motor mounts?

    I tried to do motor mounts on my 2006 envoy and jacking the motor up would not give me enough clearance to remove motor mounts. My throttle bottle and intake were jacked into the firewall to the point where I was about 1/2 inch from being able to remove. I guess my option is to remove by removing the motor mount brackets. Bummer. Wish it would have worked out. I didn't want to remove the intake. Looked like that was gonna suck.

      I'm sorry that this method did not work for you. It can be very tight and I did have to jack my engine up so that the air intake was pushing against the firewall. This job is one that you have to be pretty careful in. Removing the motor mount brackets is the recommended method by the repair manuals.

    D Murph- First time watching your video n channel. 👍 I have the same problem with my '03 TB. Question: How are those mounts from rock auto holding up? Still no more shaking? After reading a lot of negative rock auto parts reviews, it makes me nervous ordering from them...

    • @savorwithdmurph1113
      @savorwithdmurph1113  7 років тому +2

      +Vik Andrade thank you for checking my video out! The mounts are holding up very well! There is a slight vibration that does not occur very often and that may be from my transmission mount (it's still the original). I typically get AC Delco parts from RockAuto and those always work great. I went with this particular brand to save money.

      DMurph Got it. Thank you for the update. Depending on my budget, I will consider both brands. Have a great weekend.

    So you didn't have to unhook the fan/radiator or any of that to raise the engine? And you unbolted the mounts, raised, then slid the mounts out? Really nervous about this - any other comments appreciated.

    • @savorwithdmurph1113
      @savorwithdmurph1113  7 років тому +1

      Correct Mike P, I didn't take anything else off of the engine in order to raise it besides the three parts I circled in the video. Of course if that is advisable then I would go ahead and do so.
      In order to do the job I basically watched other people's motor mount replacement videos for several different cars and then did it myself. There were also a few thread discussions or vlogs that discussed removing the motor mounts from a Trailblazer. Those were helpful as well.
      As long as you have your car safely raised on jack stands and the jack you use for your engine is secure I think you should be ok. Just be careful on the driver side because that is the hardest part. Also watch my whole video if you haven't because I included tips in text after the video about work that I was unable to record.
      If you're feeling nervous about doing it hold off until you feel like you have enough info or help to safely do this job. Personally, I don't do repairs that I am nervous about. Safety first =)
      I'm going to try and shoot another video of replacing just the driver side motor mount but I may not be able to get that posted for several weeks. I hope this helps!

    once you remove the 4 10mm bolts holding the pcm, how do you move the plate it's attached to, it sits directly above the motor mount bolt?than k s

    • @savorwithdmurph1113
      @savorwithdmurph1113  7 років тому +1

      I actually did not remove the plate. It looked like that would have taken more time than I had available.
      I moved the PCM to get a little more room for my arm to work with the ratchet directly underneath the plate. I found it easier to loosen the the bolt from the top of the engine compartment rather than from the wheel well.

    I too was having violent vibrations on starting and shutting off engine, as well as driving and stopping. I purchased my mounts here, www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00GUJ9CUO/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 $81.99 per piece but is original GM product, not being a mechanic but having a lot of common sense I tackled this head on, I only had very common tools, I did buy the 21mm wench and a 21mm socket, some suggested taking the struts off. I did not, I did however take the 4 bolts that hold the fan on off to allow more clearance and not taking a chance on damage it, I also found it easier to take off the mounting bracket that holds the motor mount, the three bolts in front of the strut, this was easier for me and I did not remove the strut, I simply pried a bar between the spring and the body to allow the bolt to move out of way, (caution) in putting back these bolts neet to be pulled out as far as you can otherwise the bracket will not set flat on frame, I had to do the passenger twice as I didn't check this well until I was finishing up and noticed it, in all it took me about 8 hours, having to do it again I would say I could knock it down to 5 complete. the truck has no more vibration and or shakes..

    is there enough room on the driver's side to use a racheting wrench? you sad it took 2 hours are u a professional? I've done sway bar links tie rods wheel bearings and ball joints on my envoy just wondering if I can do all that so I should be able to do the mounts.

    • @savorwithdmurph1113
      @savorwithdmurph1113  7 років тому +1

      I believe there is enough room to use a ratcheting wrench. I used a standard ratchet and would have preferred the tool you are talking about for the driver side. I am not a professional, and I've just been working on my own cars for a few years. You should be able to do the mounts. Just be careful when jacking up the engine.
      Overall, it went fine for me but my car moved roughly an inch on the jack stands (I had to jack the engine up pretty high to make room for the new motor mounts. If you don't like the idea of jacking your engine up so high I read that some people shave the top thread on the new motor mount down a little for better clearance.
      If you have more questions Christopher feel free to ask.

    I know GM Parts are the best you can get. Yes, I have seen the "Beware"
    signs all over the internet about Aftermarket Motor Mounts & Trans
    Mounts for Trailblazers, but the price for a GM Motor Mount is enough to
    make your eyes go crossed permanently! Is this just another way for GM
    to make more Money off of you or is it a FACT? I mean, If i can buy an
    Aftermarket Motor Mount cheaper, but have the Quality of a OEM Part?
    Then Please let me know something!!!

    • @savorwithdmurph1113
      @savorwithdmurph1113  5 років тому

      Hey Billy! The quality of the GM parts is pretty high. I've never had an issue when using A/C Delco parts. I originally used aftermarket motor mounts and they stopped working after several months and vibrated terribly. If you do go with an Aftermarket part, be sure to go with the higher end and not the low priced ones. I wouldn't buy anything that's less than half the value of the GM part. The rule I go with is if the manufacturer has a good reputation the parts probably aren't that bad. If you don't know who the manufacturer is, then you're taking a risk. What aftermarket part are you looking at?

      I was looking on www.rockauto.com at their prices. It's funny! They have these Motor Mounts for as low as $10.00. Then you scroll down to the GM Part and it's in between $100 to $200. Which on do you think would be best? LOL!!!

      @@billydenham9313 if you really don't want to buy the AC Delco I would go with the Westar brand for the solid mount or Anchor for the hydraulic as it is most popular. Solid mounts take a little longer to smooth out but you don't have to worry about them leaking. I originally used a cheap hydraulic mount and it leaked and rattled like crazy. I then bought the AC Delco and haven't had a problem since.
      Check out this link for a discussion over sold vs hydraulic.

      What my problem is is these Mounts are not cheap and i don't have that kind of money to through around like that. The reason why I am going with the Mounts is because i have a ruff vibration in between 20 to 25mph. I took it to a Garage, they drove it and said it was the Motor Mounts, but when i put it in drive and hold the break and give it some gas. I don't hear any kind of popping or any other kind of noise. How would i know for a fact that this is even my problem? I don't trust Garages around here, because some times they make up stuff in order to get your money! So, What do you think?

    • @savorwithdmurph1113
      @savorwithdmurph1113  5 років тому

      How old is your car? Is the vibration in your steering wheel or just a noise you are hearing? If it's the mounts, I would think it would vibrate all the time in drive or in neutral. I understand you on the shops. I've received my fare share of garbage diagnostics or fixes that really weren't as bad as they said they were. A really funny recent story was my car would slowly die in park and the shop told me the Crank Case Breather Assembly was going bad and it would be thousands of dollars to fix it. I replaced two small vacuum hoses and the problem went away...
