Thanks for your care tips for Chamaedorea elegans babies. I use a custom hand mixed growing media consisting of worm castings, coco peat, pumice, and activated charcoal for all my babies, and through the summer growing season I water with organic compost tea to reinoculate the worm castings every other watering. Would you still recommend I use a slow release fertilizer to supplement for other trace minerals, or is the compost good enough on it own? My plants seem lush but I want to make sure I provide all they need. Thanks

Ty, you said the very same things my plant store told me on how to care for my two palms! I also buy all my plants from plant stores with 10 years or more experience and grow plants ! I also ask a lot of questions before I buy a plant ,like when it was watered last and when to water it again! I try to keep the plants as close to how they took care of them!

Very helpful tips. I live in a flat in Dubai and love indoor palms. However all my palms die within 6-8 months. What have noticed is, even after 6-8 months the roots of the plant have not expanded. So from your video , I just realized why my palms have been dying. Basically i think it is the potting soil which is not very porous but clayey. I will now buy a new palm and try it out with pours soil. Also I have been using big self watering pots. Is this harmful for the plant?

    • @Nurturinggreen2009

the size of plant and pot should not be too different. Its not a problem using self watering pots itself. 🌱

I stay in Delhi. I have placed my palm plant in balcony, in shade which has plenty of ventilation but no direct sunlight. In fact the entire balcony doesn't have to much sunlight, just mild on hours in evening.
    1. Will the dry wind in the summer affect the palm plant ?
    2. I have kept few of my areca palm which I bought 3 months back in another area . Wile cleaning the palm few of the stems which were damaged have been broken from the base and only small part/thread like structures connecting to roots remains in the soil from which plant starts growing. These stems turned completely brown from the base as if rotten however other stems are completely fine . Is this concerning or is a normal process ? Can it be result of overwatering or underwatering ?
    3. How often shall the palms and other plants kept indoor shall be kept outside for fresh air ?
    4. Are Areca plants suitable for lift lobby ?

    1) Does it make any difference whether to buy a small arica plant (like 12inches) or full grown arica palm?
    2) Does a small a small arica plan require more attention than a grown one?
    3) Is it true that a single arica plam when planted, from the roots it spreads & it becomes a bundle of like 6-7 arica plants?
