Proud to have worked on this music video. Filmed in Treherbert (Margaret Street) and mountainside of Caerphilly, South Wales, UK. The street scenes were filmed on the first day followed by the mountain on day two. Falling off the wall was never intended to happen. Pen Pych mountain can be seen in the background of the street and lane scenes. The lane can be found between Margaret Street and Miskin Street, Treherbert.
Incredibly underrated song by the group. When I finally saw them live for the first time some years ago, my heart just felt so full when this one started, had waited over 25 years to hear it live and it lived up to everything and more. Karekare was the final place where the classic lineup collaborated at length and it may have taken its toll on a number of relationships within the band, but it also facilitated some incredible music that too many in the world have overlooked.
“And the hills are as soft as a pillow And they cast a shadow on my bed And the view when I look through my window Is an altarpiece I'm praying to for the living and the dead.” the lyrics to the the whole album were just something else.
I've always loved Crowded House. Neil Finn's song writing is wonderful and the band's musicianship is fantastic. Living here in Canada, I wonder how much praise would've been heaped upon them had they been American? RIP Paul Hester.
Well, oviously tonnes. Lok what the likes of slagdonna the vile gets for being a pointless slag with no talent beyond cash-grabbing and attention-seeking and foul pretence. According to that shit country, only what they do matters, unless your any old crap these days. Now there's no music scene for ages and ages, they'll accept any old crap!
This video was made in the lanes of the Upper Rhondda and on Caerphilly mountain. They wanted this as it reminded them of back home in NZ. First band i saw live mid 90s yet again in 2024 in cardiff, they were just as good.
Hello Alan...although Paul left the band shortly after TOGETHER ALONE....he was still hanging around with Neil (They were very close friends) and appears very, very briefly in the videos for "Instinct" (Gets into the car at about 1:09) and "Not The Girl You Think You Are" (at 2:05 he kisses the man and at about 2:53 and again at about 2:57...he sits in the restroom and is folding towels). Paul had played drums on BOTH of the tracks (and also on "Everything Is Good For You"...the three NEW tracks recorded for the Recurring Dream-Best of album), even though he was officially out of the band, and Peter Jones had replaced him. I was surprised to see him, I have to admit, but as I said, they all remained close friends after he left the band. Dig, DmGrk
I’ve been locked out, I’ve been locked out But I always seen to come back again When you’re in that room, oh what do you do? I know that I will have you in the end And the clouds, they are crying on you And the birds are offering up their tunes In a shack as remote as a mansion You escape into a place where nothing moves And I’ve been locked out, and I know we’re through But I can’t begin to face up to the truth I wait so long for the walls to crack But I know that I will 1 day have you back And the hills are as soft as a pillow And they cast a shadow on my bed And the view when I look through my window Is an altarpiece I’m praying to for the living and the dead The twin valleys shines in the morning sun I send a message out to my only one Yet I’ve been locked out, and I know we’re through But I can’t begin to face up to the truth And I wait so long for the walls to crack But I know that I will 1 day have you back, yes I will And I work, bees in the honey Every night, I circle like the moon And it’s an act of simple devotion But it can take forever when you’ve got something to prove I’ve been locked out And I’m in locked down And I, I, I been locked out
Neil finn and the lead singer of squeeze had similar voices. Some songs that i think were squeeze were crowded house or vice versa. This i think is among there top 5 songs and best album and just edges woodface equally a good album

Sonic mess. Meaningless noise. Complete waste of time. Awful song, awful video. OMG! I just had a weird experience! I just noticed that if you stare at the word "awful," it looks totally right at first, but as you continue staring at it, it begins to look wrong, as if it's not a real word, or at least not correctly spelled... Try it! It's blowing my mind! But I digress... Where was I? Oh, yes... Crowded House really sucks.

I dunno... INXS did pretty well. Just a stroke of luck and good promotion sometimes.
They've sold something like 10 million albums. That's praise. They're a great band and they've reaped the rewards for that.

I hope you’ve listened to Split Enz. If you’re a fan of the Crowdies, you’re going to love this stuff. 🙂
Distant Sun was huge in Canada and Muchmusic aired the farewell concert at least three times. The breakup killed all their momentum.
I'm an Australian I'm so proud of this kiwi.
A single, that's not played enough, still just as competitive than the tunes they've made. ❤
Great tune. Lots of great background vocals as well. Fantastic choppy guitar sound. Really nice percussion.
All my childhood dreams and imaginations of Australia and New Zealand come from Woodface x
Great under appreciated tune. It's greatness not lost on me though.
One of my favorites 🔥 Thank You for all the AWESOME music including Spit Enz 👍🏻
Filmed in the South Wales valleys ahead of a gig that night at the Newport Centre, if I remember rightly.
Rhondda Valley, Tynewydd & Blaenrhondda
Wow! I never realised, but I had always thought it reminded me of parts of Cardiff... That explains it!
Thanks for the info - that’s what I came to find out. I thought it was Oop North near me.
We've missed you, you crazy diamonds.
neil is a genius
I think Neil Finn would make an awesome Dr Who, he kinda reminds me of David Tennant on this vid, anyway, my fave Crowded House track 👍
My two favorite things colliding would be amazing!
This will be in my thoughts today... mentally making episodes.
His songs have/will stand test of time, space won't be a problem.
I'm also a huge David Tennant fan... Hmmm, I see it now!!

This has got a real"Helter Skelter" Beatles'vibe to it.
sounds like john lennon vocal wise here
Such a GREAT SONG!
The guy on the maraccas reminds me of the guy at bws rosebud. Love you boo xxxxx
Love this song
It's great, it's weird. It's Crowded House.
Love Crowded House and love this song! Love Wales, but gotta say it's a weird video. It's Crowded House; it would be strange if it wasn't weird!
Definitely a Stone Roses vibe here. They were huge in UK at the time.
Stones roses? Sounds nothing like them. More like the Beatles.
This is 1994 lol not 1990
I'm watching all the available Crowded House hits here...
