Great overall filtration review! One of the best videos online that cover all 3 kinds of filtration in an organized and concise manor. Keep up the great content!
I bought one of those mattenfilters afew years and cut it into cubes I then dumped into my sump. Its the only media I use now except a small pump I mcGyver'ed onto a filtersock. Filtersocks are in my oppinion worth it for the sheer volume it takes to clog them and by going with sponge in cubes they dont generally get dirty ever.
I get lava rock delivered free all winter from the county road department. They use it for ice control instead of salt. I just go outside and pick it up on the side of the road.
I have a Fluval 405 canister filter,,in a 85 gallon tank ,I have all of exactly what you just mentioned..lol I changed everything out except the rocks about once a month
Have you tried Sera Crystal Clear. Almost like a sponge filter where you can clean it just like a sponge filter. I use it in my Air Corner Plastic filter where I put it at the bottom of the filter and then add the angel hair to the top. Works great for me. Just a thought.
As another man named Michael I am obviously biased but you are one of my favorite channels. Keep it up I am working to make our name the best in the hobby
Great video Michael. In a aquacLear hob would filling up box with all sponge material provide as much biological filtration as sponge plus lava rock or ceramics?
Hate filter cartridges. You can tell that in the design meeting question number one wasn't 'how do we make this work best' it was 'how quickly can we make this clog so they have to buy new ones' (looking at you Fluval).

The lave rock would provide more, but remember the BB colony will only grow as large as the food source.
I just got a 25 lb box of poly fil... Love that stuff
Nice!
Just a great video and so much exciting ideas on how to filter your aquarium.
Glad you enjoyed it!

Not in my town, but close enough!
That's good to hear. I was worried about you when I saw the news. Wouldn't want that fish room flooded. 👍😉🐠🐡

Not sure, but plenty of others available.

That is how they make money.
Yup media more media in pleco tanks. Sponge from coop and a hob for my plecos.
Exactly!
Deciding on bio media can be very very confusing, also if you had a tidal hob, they are so good you don’t need any media 🤣🤣🤣🤣
My Tidal75 is crap. Every day it gets closer to the garbage.
I threw my tidal away, it sucked.....and not in the good way.
