Michael, I’m sorry I’m off topic but I’ve hatched brine shrimp to feed my fish but I’m nervous because I’m worried the aquarium salt in the brine shrimp water could harm my fish. I have a 20 gallon tank with 8 guppies and 16 neon tetras. I do weekly %25 water changes (on water change Wednesday’s) and I have a 40 gallon breeder pond that’s pretty new with a dozen guppies in it so far. i know some people add aquarium salt on purpose. But how much is safe? Should I avoid feeding them live brine shrimp too often because of the salt in the water? I also feed them dried brine shrimp, flake food, and dried tubifex worms. Sorry for ranting, thank you for your time!
"I make millions". Subtle cough..."I'm fine.". LOL!!!! I love you!!!!! You are so funny!!!!!! I've learned so much from you! Thank you from the bottom of my heart. Keep it up!
I have been experimenting with Walmart LED under cabinet lights for over a year now. They cost around $9 to $14 and you can find them near the replacement light tubes. They make a separate plant led strip and the strips can link together, up to 4 of them. They are rated at 5000k if that matters to anyone but they work for my plants. The plant led one, and the standard ones, can couples together if you have multiples lights, up to 4 on 1 plug outlet max. There are even 4 ft models meant for garages for around $24 to $32 for anybody who has those huge tanks and needs cheap or emergency lighting.
Bucket tip: get a roll of wax string. tie it to the handle. when u stack them together, make sure you put the string from the top bucket into the bottom bucket when u stack which will prevent airlock and easy to pull apart. I'm sure any string will do but i like wax string.
Yeah some good tips buying power is a great way love the club idea media i like is pumice stone its basically seachem matrix but a lot cheaper also the BBQ coals are lava rock but real cheap its a little different in the UK
For the aquarium lid, I've been collecting aquarium glass panels in good condition from the ones that had cracks in them. The one negative part about doing this is that it could be tempered glass to cut it to the size you want.
I have a tip. Ebay has sellers with inexpensive multicolor led lights that even come with a remote to create color transitions. Just know the remote is a little tricky to use until you get rhe hang of it. Also, buy a programmable digital timer for the light.
Two things in regards to the buckets. First, if they are stuck grip the outer bucket between your legs and twist and pull the inner bucket, it will slide right out. Second, if you know someone who worked in a restaurant they can probably get you more free buckets than you could ever use.
Great info Mike. Thanks for the Tractor supply tip. One just opened not far from me. I used to have to go all the way to Woodstown. Gonna get me some buckets and black sand.
Wal-Mart has white 5 gal buckets also. $3.00. They come in blue also. I'm like you, I like the white because you can see the fish. Almost lost a fish when I couldn't see him. Only use white stuff now. DOLLAR TREE is great for fish tank stuff.
I worked in a greenhouse for many years and had to deal with literally thousands of 5 gal buckets. If you twist it first you should be good to go if it is still stuck tap it with a hammer. I know you like hammers so it twists and that should do it. If not beat it to death and call it a day. Take care and keep up the great work.
I got a 55 gallon with everything need to use it and a stand for 100$ we did not want to risk it leaking so we re sealed it and it has been going strong for 5 month no problems! The only thing we replaced is the lights we got Led lights.
if you go to Menards the green buckets that they have are much higher quality and stronger than the orange Home Depot ones and they're actually less than $3 I think it was like $2.78 when I bought one the other day

You can get the buckets to release the pressure by heating the bottom of the stack of buckets at the very bottom and about 6 inches high on the side with blow dryer. Just move the blow dryer and don't keep it on one spot too long to prevent melting. It'll take about 3 minutes of heating but the bottom will slide right off after heated.
Hi I'm new to you, but idk where you live but Ace hardware has white buckets for 4.99. I got some for my fish. I love your channel! Can't wait to see more! Thanks
Hi Michael, One that you forgot is use Sodium Thiosulfate Anhydrous to remove chlorine and Chloramine, it’s a fraction of the cost of bottled aquarium water safe. Another advantage is you know exactly what you are putting in the tank.
You get Service and sound advice typically from a business actually in the business(PETCO and other stores like it are not in the business so to speak. They are strictly after the dollar) The "Mom and Pop" whether local or online is where its at.

I got jumped on by a bunch of people in a local fish group on Facefook because I said that I thought most used tanks are over priced and won't pay more than $1 a gallon. A bunch of people freaked. LOL But heck! I can get new tanks for $1 a gallon if Petco is having their sale. I think the people who trashed me with bought an over priced used tank or has an over priced tank for sale.

Looking nice and healthy big guy! Good tips, but I have to take issue with the throw the clown puke gravel. Keep it and get a tiny slingshot and peg the snowflakes with it!
I noticed your tanks have a good bit of overhang. I’m sure you’ve answered the same question before, but is this safe? I’m setting up a similar racking system using 3 2x4’s and 6 inch cinderblocks. I’d love to be able to fit more tanks like this but I’ve always heard the corners support the weight.
I'm shocked how quick your Flowerhorn is growing I want one so must the thing stopping me is I think it might get lonely I'd all so like a parrot fish do you think they could get on
There is another tip, you can use Lava rock as a biological media (especially for bigger sumps). However don't just buy the gas BBQ one as Lava rock is also used as a landscape decoration - get it at the yard!
A tip for separating buckets.......AIR!!!!! Put an air nozzle between the buckets and BAM! They pull apart with the greatest of ease. You're welcome. ;-)

Hold bottom bucket and twist the top bucket. This breaks the seal between them so you can pull them apart. Works on cups too.
