I dont know if you'll see this comment but Momma Murphy's ear rings could be what gives her insight, just like how Lorenzos crown gives him his. They are made from the same or similar material used for the metroman statues around the games and most places in the games that are intact have the statues in or nearby the buildings, Dunwich tends to be the ones behind acquiring them and most of their places are haunted or show you the past, for example the dunwich borer when you first go there you see flash backs of dunwich executives praying, I think they're connected to the children of atom.

One modded NV playthrough i was jaywalking towards Hoover Dam for early Chinese Stealth suit. I was crossing the minefield between Nelson & Camp Forlorn Hope at night, and saw legless NCR soldiers hovering above their bodies that were lying on top of the mines Legion troops laid. Definitely was a bug conflict between Uncut Wasteland & some other mods i had, but the way the copies of NCR troops were legless as well & just hovering on top of their own bodies that were anguishing on the ground ( due to lack of legs) caught me off guard. The modded weather & ambience sounds also made the whole experience much more surreal & spooky with howling winds & the cries of wounded troops wailing all around. Anyway that also meant i got extra dogtags to hand over to Aurelius on my way back lol
The thing that struck me with Mama Murphy is the description of her time as a raider boss implies the chems were simply stimulants to natural capability. And that the junkie psychosis wittled her down to the state she's in. The Jet inhalation might just let her "clear her mind" due to the withdrawal and age making the precognition decipherable. Really the idea she was empowered by prescience is enough for her time as a raider to be sucessful. And the chems she made drug soup out of were just to feel physically amped.
i love how fallout has a society where 80 years after the bombs fell we get stuff like vault city and shady sands which has actually new architecture and new fashions and cultures.. only for 100 years later on the east coast for them to be obsessed with a old culture dressed in old timey clothes and outfits and using them in contextually accurate places unlike how the legion used football pads as armor for war.... Bethesda doesn't just not understand the fallout universe... they don't understand apocalypses or post apocalypses and how they function -- they keep treating it like its been only a few years since the apocalypses began or they are treating like a zombie apocalypses where its very difficult to establish infrastructure which is just sad...

Like the transition from Roger Maxson and his soldiers into the westernBrotherhood of Steel. Because without 76, Roger Maxson and the proto-Brotherhood went from "the government is doing terrible experiments, we can't be a part of this, we are seceding from the union" to "Let's become medieval knights and scribes, and be xenophobic cultists obsessed with taking technology from people". That is a bit of a large leap, and something Fallout 76 fixes. Also they did the Fiends concept better than New Vegas did
You should really get into Metro because I think the supernatural stuff gives it a unique identity but also I think it just outright does it better than Fallout.

It asks the big questions from an existentialist POV. Ghosts exist as a story element to show the pure horror of nuclear war. Fallout's supernatural is also that, but mostly in the psyker stuff. But the stuff with the ghosts and Lovecraft kinda makes me roll my eyes. It has to be more subtle IMO. Funnily enough, Josh Sawyer said he didn't like Hakunin's visions but Chris Avellone said he'd allow players to be psykers in his tabletop sessions of Fallout. I prefer Metro's approach because it takes the supernatural elements very seriously, whereas I feel Fallout wants Lovecraft stuff because "woo hoo wacky tentacles". But that's just my opinion. You definitely should read the books.

There's a lot of alien horros in the genre as well as made by lovecraft himself. Those aliens are also just usually vaguely magic as well. So it's a bit of a give and take here, like 50% alien 50% magic lol

I would argue that every living thing in fallout has a connection to one supernatural force:luck. Luck isn’t exactly something we consider magical often, but it is a supernatural force. Characters with high luck stats can perform feats that are downright magical. It is a very passive type of magic, but it’s still magic.
