- In this week’s video, we receive an unannounced visit from an FDA dairy inspector along with our state dairy inspectors. I talk about the issues we had and what they're typically looking for during an inspection.

Epoxy the floor Pete. It stands up the best to water and washing soap and acids.
This floor has had epoxy applied to it a couple times over the years and most of it is holding up good. Just the few areas that eventually chip off.
Re concrete patch - you likely have the right material, however I didn't see the bag. I would use shower tile thinset, that stuff sticks to everything and doesn't deteriorate even in continuous under water. It is truly amazing stuff, I can't believe how strong the stuff is. Good luck.
The product I used is specifically for this application, where it needs to handle chemicals and have a short dry time.
what about running a full foam rubber seal around your bulk tank. it compressible so it should flex in and out...
That could be an option if it would stay tight to tank.
Congratulations on the great bill of health, wow sometimes really picky....maybe use the extra concrete for their mouth next time they come😂😂😂
I guess, if they're going to write you up for something, the floor is not the worst thing. The space between the wall and tank, pure stupidity don't get it.
Piet epoxy your milking room floor. It stands up very well. Thing is dry time may be a issue. Great video like always!

I think the first impression on a dairy says enough!
You need to put a piece of granite in your concrete any place where your water drains. It won’t deteriorate like concrete does. Make sure your water is plenty hot. It should be at least 145 degrees on your return side to keep equipment clean. Milk tankers get washed at the wash temp has to be minimum 145 degrees for a certain amount of time then the cool down acid rinse etc. Add sanitizer to your cip wash detergent/soap for your cip wash. It helps clean equipment and makes your cip soap stronger to keep equipment cleaner. Great videos. God bless

The inspectors are doing their job I know. But a real pain in the butt. We farmers will not do anything that will endanger our health. We just smile and fix things that they find. Your operation is a very clean. Thank You for caring for our health.

Piet I think you better use Epoxy for the floor, we use Epoxy on the inside of fuel tanks that are under the ground and that holds very well.

I think you need to look a the inspector as if they are the customer. You are selling and harvesting food. Good job. The floor is Frustrating I feel your pain.
Are you allowed to use calc fillers like "Big Stretch" which are extremely flexible and adhesive. It is often used in combination with wood, so I do not know how it works with steel.
Big stretch is what I used this time, we'll see how it holds up!
Cant you put a barrier around the patched area to allow it to fully dry?
Inside the trough is difficult to keep dry because it fills completely when the wash drains.

It might be worth a try but it has to be 100% sealed. Water and milk can't get under it at all.
Could you use some sort of epoxy on the floor to fix it?
Yes, we've had the floor fixed up with an epoxy a couple of times. It works for a few years but eventually wears through again.
Piet have you ever been to the world dairy expo, if so was it worth the visit?
We went there as a family about 5 years ago. I think it's worth it to go see it at least once.

Why don’t you put a stainless steel sheet on top of that concrete job done
We had a stainless trough in there originality, but due to improper installation milk got underneath it. A stainless liner would be preferred but it would need to be 100% sealed.
So you live in China?
My assumption would be that there is less regulation in China, but that's only an assumption.
