    The data wheel on the 2000 classic was so great. I wish they’d bring it back.

      it seems like the same control as on the S2000 rack sampler.

    I got both when they first came out. Got rid of both to get a 3000, a 60, and 60II. But ended up getting the 2000 back over the XL. Maybe I'm imagining things, but the 2000 always had the better sound between the 2. Plus, I love that data wheel...! And you're right, Reverb and Ebay late at night are evil...!

      Yup, The OG 2000 definitely has more boom to it than the XL. The 3000 is a Grizzly machine though.

    The original 2000 is a slight bit more transient then the xl and when working with samples is super focused workflow lets you do incredible things with samples. I swear 99% of mpc2k classic videos don’t scratch the surface

      didn't Kanye make some of the most famous beats of all time with one? lm looking for my first mpc myself rn and this seems like the one because it's affordable because every one hates on it for no good reason

    My brother gave me 2000 for my birthday one year, but the screen was cracked and I think needed a power cord. Ended up getting both and started messing around with it. Man the sound on that thing is massive!! I can’t wait to mess around with it when I get back to the states. Currently own the 2000 (in the US) and the 1000 (here in China)

    I like the Akai mpc 2000 more. I don't know why, but I'm much faster with it. And don't know if I'm imagining it, but the Classic kicks harder than the 2000xl

    On the 2000 classic: Highlight the ON:YES on the main screen, hit OPEN WINDOW - there are your trackmutes.

    The XL for sure. Plus these machines are easy to fix. They will last forever compared to the newer mpcs.

    Ive never owned a 2000 or 2000XL but I always liked how the pads were on the right hand side. I wonder why they never did that again after this.

    Dope comparison video 📹. I love ❤️ the sound of the Mpc 2000. I got one years ago clean asf for $150.00. Only thing it's longer for my work flow because I started on the Mpc2000xl I sold it

      You can't go wrong with either one. I think it was a major step back to make you save the OS to a disk to boot it. You didn't even have to do that with the MPC 60 from 10 years earlier.

    i have the classic and the xl and ive preferred the classic lately. it has less features but i think the os is more stable and faster, also the sound is better imo. you can remove the burn in on the screen with a small blade, its usually glue that got stuck on it from the polarizer film. theres a video on how to fix it on yt

    2000 was my very first MPC that I owned but I never used it personally myself back when I had it in the nineties. I eventually sold it. I have the 2000XL and I will not part with it if I can help it. Obviously of the two I'd say let go of the classic but if you don't need to let it go keep both

    Personally, I prefer the 2000 over the XL. Only thing I hate about the 2000 is that you have to load the OS every time.

      Why Bro?

    • @EmmitElliott
      @EmmitElliott 8 місяців тому +1

      It’s mainly because of the way I was able to trigger the pads. With the 2000 is easier for me to play my chops. With the XL it felt like I had to depress one pad to trigger the next one if using solo mode and the sample had to be held while playing. Truly a personal preference but the XL does not allow me to do that.

    are making a collection of mpc s? i gess the newer mpcs (like the x, live, one ) are better thant vintage ones .

    • @sgtcreasegrease
      @sgtcreasegrease 7 місяців тому

      Depends what you're trying to do. Sometimes them being vintage doesn't matter. Esp if its the ones that don't use floppies or at least allow you to use cf cards.

    🤝 I been using FL for the longest, usually do writing and vocals & sometimes do beats when I need to fill in a sound on my projects, I just copped sp404 and mpc one+ after that. starting to get addicted to learning hardware. What old one would you recommend? The 2000? Or is the new X much better than the one+?

    • @kamikaze6295
      @kamikaze6295 8 місяців тому

      I find the newer Mpcs (standalone) easier.
      The old mpcs require more time and patience to learn. Do yourself a favor and stick with the new ones. Unless your passion is so great that you want to do that to yourself. I think the sound of the old ones is better.

      Question for you; are you familiar with the screen modification for the 1000?
      Considering buying one for $500 but the screen isn’t stable.
