That's exactly what I wanted to do in my twenties but I was so busy with work I put my head down and went to work and when I came up for air I worked rite through my 20's,30's and 40's then became a single parent and got diabetes and osteoarthritis and heart disease and now I'm just living vicariously through wonderful you tubers like you. Someday I would love to just try and do this.
Hey ❤any updates? Have u managed to get out in a little adventure? Wishing you the best adventures ahead. I’ve also wasted my 20s working/dealing with Covid and family and hoping to make up for it in my 30s 🥲
58 minutes. Yes, yes, YES. I know it takes a lot of effort to makes these longer videos. I’m sure I speak for the majority of the community but keep these up. I can wait a bit longer for an hour of pure goodness. Love the content sir. Keep it up!
These videos just put me in a special kind of happy place, just so peaceful and calming. Much love, Xander, and thank-you for taking us on your adventures!
Dude, your videos have inspired me back out in the woods man. I don't know why I stopped, but your adventures have reminded me of the magic that camping has. Thank you.
When I travel to my favorite camping spot, I take my fiberglass canoe, two paddles, camping gear and food to stay for two weeks alone. I register at the ranger station, unload my canoe and gear and take off. Two portages later I'm at my destination. I unload my gear, including my canvas tent and pull my canoe half-way up the hill out of the lake. I pull my duffle bag of food up into a tree on a rope. It is my understanding that putting your food up into a tree limb is a rule in many wilderness areas around The Great Lakes region. It just make sense to sleep as far away from your food as possible in bear country. I like to visit this area in the early Spring of the year. Less people are around then. Many times, I've spent the entire two weeks without seeing anyone else. Solitude restores my soul. I'm an old man of 65 now, yet, those good memories of spending time there remain.
Thanks for sharing - we often Haul our food in bags up in trees. in the food barrels sometimes we just leave them, especially in more remote areas where the bears are scared of humans. I enjoyed reading your comment, thank you
It's great to see you get spoiled for a change. You didn't have to cook, chop wood, build a fire, and do everything else by yourself. You deserve to be pampered every now and then, lol. This was so enjoyable to watch, you're an awesome guy bro 👏💯✌
Hey Xander! I am a twin, our parents have camped for years and we are truly falling in love with it, especially bushcraft. We plan to do exactly what you and Max do, I've looked at your list of gear I don't know how many times. We want to get this ball rollin'. Whether it be a video or a brief moment of a video, could you cover the planning of your trips? (location, portages, sites, etc.) Keep doin' what you're doin' brother! Love it.
I did a 10 day canoe trip in Sweden with a couple of friends 2 years ago. It just calms my mind seeing your content and thinking back to those times. Todays world is so hectic and fast - good way to charge those batteries up and ground yourself. Thanks ❤️
I hope that by the time people realise that social media and electronics aren't the most important thing in life, we still have places like this to visit!
Been watching a lot of your videos lately. Gotta say I really love how you always act so positive and your random acts of childlike joy, like the bit of swimming in the rapids. Awesome stuff, great humor as well.
It's currently nearly 11pm in the UK. I started this video and I thought, "I'll just watch the first 10 minutes and I'll go to bed." Here I am an hour later, I've watched it all. A really well-made, informative and funny video. Well done and thank you!
I celebrate you found your Zen and are clean and sober, you are a great inspiration and role model. Love your video's and skilled cinematography. You have a talent to relate to others, a gift to inspirer and are a gifted special person, peace be with you.
Ahahahahaaa! you're impression of a salmon running up the falls was AWESOME!!!! Those waterfalls coming off the riverbanks were amazingly beautiful!! Great adventure, great video! Thanks for sharing.
I've never, with full commitment, watched an entire UA-cam video that is this long! There's somthing about your videos bud, calming and absolutely entertaining. Keep up the great work!
Bailing tip - I always take along a small sponge. Great for many things, but very light, easily packable, and perfect for quickly bailing water from a canoe as you paddle along on a rainy day.
XANDER I READ UP ON YOUR HISTORY AND I HAVE NOTHING BUT RESPECT AND INSPIRATION FOR WHAT HAVE BEEN THROUGH, ITS INSPIRING, THANKS FOR YOUR WORK AND DEDICATION.
Absolutely amazing scenery, reminds me so much of Finnish wilderness. Ive always wondered why is the north american/canadian woods and animals so similar to Finland's which is across the freaking Atlantic on a different continent. Great video and awesome journey!
I love the Canadian wild😍😍can't get enough of it 😍😍we don't have such forrests in Germany. Could be because Germany is too tiny to have such big areas of wilderness. All forrests here are either commercially used or are national parks. So you can just camp on real camping places. No real chance to make big wilderness trips here where you are really alone. And making fire is a big no go in Germany either. Or in other words : the spots where you are aloud to make open fire are rare... Damn rare. 😞That's why I enjoy your videos so much. It's like I am there. I nearly can smell the fresh air and that warms my heart. Thank you for it. Really big thank you 😘🤗😍
Oh my god. 58 minutes of video made by Xander Budnick in the Canadian wilderness? Thank you very much!! This is just what I needed! Your channel has blown up recently, at one point you were gaining like 2000 subscribers a day! Well earned considering the effort you put into these amazing vids!
Hello 👋 my outdoors friend, greetings from Northern California. Thank you for the exciting tag along. This was an amazing experience. Be sure that you take good care of yourself. Stay safe and healthy out there. I look 👀 forward to the next exciting adventure 😀. 🤗
That was absolutely epic mate! Congrats on your walleye! Jealous that you get to have some friends with you on this trip, always nice to have some buddies along camping
I did this exact trip in 1989 and it brought back memories! I see you used a lot of dehydrated food. Just imagine if you could have dehydrated water! It would weigh nothing at all and you would just have to add water and voila, you could drink!! 😁
make that 568,000 of your closest friends. I keep watching your old content. I don't like anyone else's videos other than yours. Your brother's are alright but you've got the perfect vibe. I never had any interest in camping until I saw your channel, I am a few months out from my first camping trip with a good buddy and I am so excited. Thank you!
love the salmon impersonation ;) just to check when you portage, you go with canoe then come back for equipement then carry that? best thing i have watched in ages, keep it going...
Haha I know it's a goofy ending when I was on the trip and filming the ending I thought it was very obvious that I only wore one shirt the whole time so I said that but after watching and editing the video I realized it wasn't all that obvious oh well :p
Even after just getting back from a rough camping trip to forget, this video (and your channel as a whole) make me want to get back out into nature and go on an adventure! Keep up the great work, man!

2 years later, a nasty war broker out in Israel. Every day, I ask myself if some gunman or knife attacker or car rammer decides he wants to kill Jews when I'm the target. Every day I have to take shelter from rockets blindly aimed at civilian residential areas and the alarm is always a reminder, someone has fired missiles, I could be next.. Every day, you hear loud explosions all around you. It's been a month like this. I'm writing this to express gratitude. In days like this watching Xander's videos of Canadian wild nature frees my soul from its earthly confines. Today, for 58 minutes and 30 seconds, I was in a better place. So thank you Xander.
I didn’t expect to enjoy such a long video, but every minute is something worth watching, and glad to see you are not eating so much burned food anymore
I am glad I found this channel man. Not leaving.. Being stuck in a concrete jungle watching this very close to nature & wild is so cathartic. Bruh your videos has a certain charm. Keep it up 👍
Another awesome video. I'm living, vicariously, through your videos. And to have your brother and sister in law, with you, is so great. Yes...those were walleyes, you caught. The bass and crappies looked great. I liked the longer video. Thanks hon, and take care, out there.

Love this video as always, but I must compliment Maxim's wife on being a master camp fire chef. Nothing tastes better than great food in fresh air.
