My 2 year old outdoor kitty does this. She’ll see us outside, and when we go over she’ll make the trill noise. It’s the cutest thing ever!! She has a brother, but instead of trilling, he squeaks sometimes when we go up and talk to him ^^
Recently moved back in with my parents so my cat and their cat have been slowly starting to interact. Every night we would walk down and catch them trilling at each other and running in circles through the cat tube in the dining room. Such a sweet sound to hear them making at each other , glad they became quick friends :))
These tiny little mews remind me of a kitten my family once had named Lysander. He had the softest little vocalizations, just the quietest 'mew' sound. Lysander was actually one of a litter of around seven, so we found him a new home over at our neighbors. He had been an indoor-outdoor kitty at first...and what they wanted/needed was a barncat.
