@@viveknamikaze761 I think all the puzzles, blitz and bullet games have made him more precise with classical games, particularly in the middle game. Watched the live stream with Vishy commentating/analyzing. It was very enjoyable having someone of that caliber do this. Made it easier to see the good and bad moves.
I watched this live. What a study in the difficulty of the endgame. Even if the computer shows the bar almost entirely in your favor, the game is much closer over the board only one pawn up. Fortunately, no pushups for Hikaru as he declines to go for a draw and goes on to win! It seemed e5 was a moment that really reinforced Hikaru was seeing the possibilities and going for the win! @@achmadardiansyah4223 have to disagree. This could have been a draw at so many points but Hikaru had a plan on the right side to get it done and he did everything to make THAT happen. Very fun to watch an aggressive play like that.
Hikaru mentioned that he might give his candidates spot to ding , cause he feels ding has been robbed off the well deserved spot and a strong challenger to Magnus .
For that to happen, all the other players of this tournament have to agree (in order of tournament standing) first. Although, if another player claimed that spot, he would probably be ridiculed for the rest of his life. Historically this has happened before for Fischer. All the other 11 players withdrew to give him the slot.
He said that but I dunno if he has the power to make that happen. It's not like you can just pass your score and spot to whoever you want in a tournament.
It probably won't happen, but having that intent alone shows the maturity that guy has. Indeed, taking a step back from a professional chess career has changed Hikaru for the better.
Actually there could be a other way for Ding, but dont know if it would be okay for FIDE. If Ding would just be a replacement on the other tournament he could play 2 tournaments. But don't know if they would do it.
He would say something like, well I'm glad the match won't be against Ding Liren or Fabiano but of course Hikaru is still a very strong chess player and I take the match very seriously ( ironic smile). Not sure if i suggested this already but here you go: I love your tangents about plays that could’ve happened but didn’t, but it gets hard to keep track sometimes of the real game. Consider giving a visual cue of going into hypotheticals. Maybe make the whole video black and white or high contrast.

as black in 8:51 you can take on b2 treath to queen, before queening sac the rook for the bishop with check, the white rook will take and give you check but after you move I don't see how white can stop me from promoting
if you take b2 check with the rook first, putting the king into the back rank then retreat the bishop and you are left without moves while white will slowly push the other pawns.
9:36 Maybe it is not easy to find if you are good at chess. I "found" the move by very simple reasoning: Do not let the rook capture my pawn on f2. Move the pawn to f4 where it is protected by the rook, the pawn and the king. Basically the safest place for the f2 pawn available.

No because white can allow black to queen and checkmate black by trapping black king on back rank Example : rook takes pawn, pawn takes rook, axb2 Rd7+, Kg8 Kf6( and it backrank checkmate Is unstoppable)
because if you capture the bishop hxg6 leads to a mate in 6. and instead of that white can also take g6 with its rook, and since the king is on g7 Rxg6 would come with check, and after the black king moves you make an in-between move and take on a3 and after they take back white can take on c6 which means black is just one tempo short of Queening.
