Another solid DIY video KC. Today I am picking up a 2023 Yamaha Grizzly. I am getting rid of my Can Am. For whatever reason I didn't have a good run with it in the long run and it was having several issues. I am sure I will be looking back on these videos for info.

Good Stuff...For those without a Press, You can Rent or Buy an Automotive Style Bearing Remover/Installer Kit that has Adapters small enough to work. Also you can put the New Bearings in the Freezer for a while to Aid in installation.

Great job! Thorough explanation, those bearing packing tools are amazing. The ones I have are nice, don't have to remove the axle to use them which is handy. Real nice shop you have there. Thanks for sharing.

@KC ATV Always helps, I do mine every winter during the down time. I should be doing mine in a few weeks, need to inspect my brakes. Good time to check that all out. Need one of those hydraulic presses, sure makes it easy for replacing bearings. We're still going caveman over here, haha. Cheers.
@@ElevationATV oh yeah, always good to look over the machine when you’re doing maintenance and repairs. I didn’t know I needed Wheel bearings till I was doing the axle seals and found the bearings were shot.
supposedly kawasaki teryx use the exact same bearing. And the koyo DAC3055W are the best (used in 550/660/700). only about $30 each. Wow that press is awesome. I might have to pull mine and lube them just so that I (hopefully) never have to replace the bearings. I need to swap out the disc guards on my 19 anyway so that I can run 12" wheels on it. Very interesting video-- one of my machines has 3500 miles on it, I might have to check and make sure the bearings are smooth on it or if they are rough. That machine has seen a lot of water as well. I've heard before if you add too much grease it can push the seal out and actually do more harm than good. Is there any truth to that with these wheel bearings? I've seen those bearing packer tools for Polaris as well but I've never done it.
Hey Rod, Yeah the bearings on the grizzly have definitely been in a lot of water. As far as too much grease hurting the seal? depends on what type of seal it is. The small seals on those bearings are just a small lip seal so the grease will come right out without damage. Thanks for checking out the video buddy!
When I was running my Rhino I was an expert on taking apart front and rear hubs and rebuilding the CV axle joint till I finally put the true lift on it not just the spring lifts
@@kcatv9556 oh it did until I put that Gorilla 6” lift on it with the the right length axles, did the same thing with my 2012 Commander and now I’m having the same problem with my 2011 Commander not sure about lifting it up as high as the other 2 it’s got about a 2-3” lift on it now just enough to pull the axles on the rear out
This may have been said already, but packing the bearing with grease greatly decreases its life span. Only add grease to replace what's been washed away (hard to tell, I know). Adding too much grease causes balls to slide rather than turn, which in turn generates heat, then premature wear.

Koyo bearings come pre greased and do not need any more grease, you just ruined the seals, once they get hot, grease will ooze out and water will seep in, they call it sealed bearings for a reason.

You will cause excessive heat adding grease and grabs dirt there's a reason why the designers do it that way too much is not good it expands with heat put the bearings in the freezer for installation
@@kcatv9556 I just bought Yamaha bearings and Sixity XTA 4340 chromoly axels for the rear on my 2013 700 putting on in few week I've heard nothing but good things about the XTA vs the XT, OEM axles really expensive but decent I will report on your site about durable in the future
@@kcatv9556 no problem I'm really curious about these axels they are rated 30 to 40% better than OEM excellent metal with thick neoprene boots vs rubber, neoprene is far superior to rubber and the grease is really high moly which is good but to much moly isn't good especially with motor oil just like to much ZDDP isn't good for oil becomes acidic for offroad applications and small engines 1300ppm ZDDP is ideal, car oils are 800ppm max because of emissions that's why car oil is terrible for small engines true small engine oils are around 1200ppm to 1300ppm with my grizzly I run Yamalube 10w40 HP full synthetic in winter and 15w50 HP full synthetic in summer I also use Amsoil products in my small engines people keep saying use diesel oil with these grizzlies but my manual clearly states in bold letters no diesel rated oils sorry for babbling but I'm big on proper products my dad tested oils for years
@@kcatv9556 no its not private anyone is welcome to ride there. A couple own it but they have regular full-time jobs so there park is only open on weekends and depending on how much it rains to. They say on there website to call before coming down. They also have cabins to rent with fire pits. I can't wait until the weather gets better so I can go..

I do not have a video on that. Basically just screw the new zerts in they seal just fine.

Havoc Industries has a wheel bearing tool that goes over the axle to grease it.

Did you buy OEM bearings or what do you prefer?

Never heard anything good about the Chinese bearings. I've seen kawasaki has bearings the exact same size at about half the price of the yamaha.
