I’d be furious if my cabin was that dirty. At $1000 a night I wouldn’t expect to see a single sign that the room had even been used by someone else. The state of that room makes me think the ship / service is going downhill. I have a friend who was also on the ship recently and they got food poisoning. The food was also pretty poor in general, so I do wonder what’s going on.

Disney Magic holds a very special place in my heart. It was my family's first cruise. Many years later, I planned a cruise for my mom and I. She was diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer four months prior to our cruise. She told every doctor that she had to get better so she could go on her Disney Cruise. We made it on the cruise and made some great memories. My mom passed away less than a month after our cruise. She truly lived for her cruise on Disney Magic.

My wife and I got married in 1988. Our honeymoon was on a “Disney” cruise before they owned their own ship. It was the Premiere Oceanic dubbed The Big Red Boat. 4 days on the ship and 3 in the park. Back when the prices weren’t inflated. It was amazing. We still remember our waiter’s name!

We lucked into a Disney cruise when our kids were 6 and 8. It was in late August and US schools were back in session and we used a bunch of reward miles. It was sooooo amazing, the kids loved it and so did we. Well, we looked to try again in a couple of years, and then EVERY year thereafter. We never went as it was so crazy expensive. Like $8000 for 4 people for a week in an inside cabin in the summer. We would have to add international airfare plus time at Disney itself, etc. etc. it was just not anything we could justify as a middle class family. I wondered so many times who pays that much and fills the boats.

    • @laurapalmieri1711

Disney is expensive; however, this cruise in particular, was even pricier because it was the preview cruise to Disney’s new island destination, so it had premium pricing. Also, 3N Disney cruises are generally more expensive per night than a 4 or 5 night.

You can just pull into the new parking garage or drop of passengers at terminal. We live here and cruise mostly Princess, so we know this to be a 100% fact.

I honestly feel like I'm spoiled (or spoilt as Brits say) for any other cruise line. When people ask me why I keep spending so much more than other cruise lines and go with Disney, I tell them the various things which are included with your cruise, and that in the end, Disney is well known as the absolute kings of customer service. If I'm gonna spend so much money, I really want to know that if I have a problem, it will not continue to be a problem. The Magic is our favorite ship and was our first Disney cruise too. It's so hard to believe she's 26 years old, it is so well maintained. We just love the Magic. We can't wait to sail on her again. Very surprised your stateroom was not clean.. We were on the last cruise before she went into dry dock in 2023, which was when the lounge was updated.

Oh my goodness! Like you both, I have cruised on numerous ships, and hands down, the Disney Magic is the best! I've taken my six grandchildren, two by two, when they reached ages 7 and 5. I've also cruised on Disney ships Majic and Wonder with just my adult daughter and myself. It was such a great experience! They really monitor the adults-only spaces, which made it so peaceful. I agree 100% with your choice! Love you both!

To be fair, you guys are on the FIRST sailing to the brand new Disney Exclusive destination, and it's in the summer. With both of those factored into the price, $3000 sounds about right. Also, H2O went out of business (actually, I think they just shut down) and then Disney seemingly just bought out the H2O stuff and just kept making it for their properties. It was about 2 and a half years ago, so the H2O brand is no more, but the actual soap is not going anywhere.

We were on the Disney Magic, a cruise from Brisbane to Sydney and back. I've cruised many times before, but it was my fiancee's first. We loved the ship, too. Even though we had an inside cabin, it was spacious and comfortable. My worries about traveling with several million little kids were quickly put at ease.
One of the first things we noticed was the way the ship was maintained. Unlike Disney World in Orlando, it was spotless. Unfortunately, the theme park does not meet Walt and Roy's standards.
One detail I loved about the ship that made me feel right at home was the light fixtures in the hallways. I bought a dozen fixtures years ago when Disney redecorated one of their hotels.
They're being used in all three of our homes.

We were on the Magic after the dry dock in May 2023- which is when they added the Soul Cat Lounge, converted some rooms to concierge, and some other small changes and the ship was not ready then. The AC was not working on the ship, and peoples rooms were flooding, so we were hesitant to go back again. However, we recently spent 2 weeks (a B2B) on the Magic in April/May this year and it is crazy the improvement we saw between the year. That being said, we did notice the room steward was not as on top of things as they usually are. When we spoke to our steward, they said that Disney had been sending a lot of people home early, due to the new ship prep for when they come back (a lot of the Magic Staff is getting sent to the Adventure and Treasure). Regardless, the state of your room is unacceptable and hopefully Disney figures things out to ensure rooms are clean and crew is not overworked.

The cost is wild but you can still find lower prices on Disney than $1,000 a night. We just cruised the Magic in February for a 5 night to Cozumel and Progreso and for me, my husband and daughter our total (before gratuities) was $2,400. We did this through a guaranteed interior room. The room was great for us and I recommend it for anyone who wants to try Disney but cost is an issue.

I love all the adventures you guys take us on! Honestly, I think you’re more influenced by your emotions and memories on that Disney ship. I did a 4-day Disney cruise last year; I couldn’t wait to get off! Lines everywhere. Food was made for a child’s choices. The “adult areas” were bars; even the adult pool was 18+, which meant 18-20 year old girls would scream and shout all day in the pool. The crew were amazing but pushy parents forcing their kids into one line after another so they can get a Princess photo was insane; what kid likes to stand in a half-hour line?! I am glad I had the experience but NO THANK YOU to sailing DCL again! Glad you guys looked for the positives; I found few of them on Disney ship.

employee help me carry laundry back to my room when he spotted me. Other ones saw me coming and pushed elevator buttons. A few went out of their way to find my DH gluten free items when couldn't find much. That particular cruise I had a terrible sinus headache and asked steward to bring ice . He not only brought it up immediately but in one of those rubber bags you put ice in AND a soft ice pad. Never had that in any of my 30 cruises on other lines. Because of price though will reserve Disney only for special occasions lol
