    Really helpful. And great timing too. Just when I noticed my unit flashing red after two hours of rehearsal the last three weeks. I'll consider this option.

      Awesome, I figured that others would wind up with batteries starting to go bad at this point and info was scarce so I made the video. Hopefully it can guide or describe the obstacles enough so the next can avoid or circumvent them.

    Hi, thank you so much for this video, 🥰much appreciated ! I managed to open my sets without breaking the clips by using the iFlex Opening Tool from iFixit, starting on the same edge, tilting it upwards by 85 degreee and nibbled on. And I just sent a request for the batteries ( and bezel, if necessary) to Sennheiser ( yes I own a liion spot welder, but .. well.) Need to replace worst case 4 of these, so.. better plug an play. :-) have a good time 🤓

      That's great! I was looking through my drawers for good tools to open it up without breaking it, but I went in partly blindfolded (although I've opened my fair share of remotes). Good that you managed to keep it intact.

    Hi Bob, your video is great! I was getting worried concerning one of my units so your helpful instruction will prove invaluable when I come to change out the battery. Thank you 😊

      I appreciate that it can help others. The Sennheiser is such a good unit, so it deserves to be fixed. I've run mine now for awhile, and it holds the battery time as it used to do when it was new.

      Hi again Bob. Presumably, in use going on to 'standby' (yellow) uses less power, correct? Thanks.

    • @bobs_backyard
      @bobs_backyard  4 місяці тому +1

      It mutes the signal going out from the base unit but activates the tuner function. So I would doubt that it uses less.

    Thank you for this video! Had my unit for about 1year and the transmitter now blinks red after about 1hour - not enough to get through 2 sets on a gig. So I just bought a second transmitter to have one on charge and one on active duty. A very expensive and frankly disappointing option. I wish the battery was accessible and hot swappable - it ain’t. So I think now I have 2 units I can risk surgery on my original transmitter. Thank you so much for taking the time to show how this can be achieved - looks doable with plenty of opportunities to mess up…

      I'm rooting for you, it is doable for sure. Those small clasps/plastic grippy-thingies that holds the lid are bound to break off when you pry it open even though being careful and knowing them being fragile. I'd be very impressed if you managed without breaking them off, although it shouldn't discourage you from trying. All the best!

      Thank you! Did it! Used a Vapcell H10 14500 1000mAh 10A 3.7V Battery - less than £5 delivered.
      Will also replace the battery in the other unit - which seems to last only a couple of hours!
      Thank you again!

    What brand of battery did you use? And did it improve your run time. I replaced my battery with a 2000 mah that I got on ebay and I still barely get an hour and a half run time.
    I like this system and would love to get ot working again.

      Hi @DaleDutridge, I bought it at akkuteile.de and I think it's this one-
      www.akkuteile.de/power-bank-mobile-energie/akkupack/keeppower-1s1p-14500-3-6v-3-7v-1000mah-li-ion-akku-mit-bms-schutz_12028_2647
      It definetly got it back in running order and I can go for quite some time before needing to recharge. Mind you that I swapped the safety circuit over from the old battery to this new battery, since it didn't have that configuration.

    Very Helpful video, Does anybody know where you can get the right battery though? Im struggling to find it. I don't really want to be messing with taking one a part. Thanks

      @bobs_backyard  Місяць тому

      Thanks for the feedback, much appreciated. Yeah, it would be much easier. I bought mine only knowing that it was the right form factor and voltage. Didn't manage to find the correct one with the onboard safety circuit through the resellers I found. I guess Sennheiser buys in bulk and from a supplier, the markings on the battery didn't show up at other resellers. akkuteile.de is where I settled on buying my replacement battery from. If you or any other find a 1-1 replacement, please give us a comment over here since it seems to be a bit of an uptick on viewers for this video. That way it can help others.

    Hello, is it not possible to connect the two cables of the new battery to the plug and use the circuit board of the new battery?

    • @bobs_backyard
      @bobs_backyard  3 місяці тому

      I would be cautious to do that, since the circuitry on the old battery vs the new seems to differ when it comes to current control or limiter related function, hence the odd number of cables. I took the safe road and swapped the old circuit on to the new battery just to be sure that the unit "saw" the same circuit and its signalling. I can't vouch for the logic on the mainboard, but I would guesstimate that certain signaling, voltage/current is expected and I don't know if the new circuit would provide that given the different number of wires. So I played it safe.

      How long does your transmission system last with this battery? I have installed the same batteries and get 2.5 hours

    • @bobs_backyard
      @bobs_backyard  3 місяці тому

      I would say more than that, closer to 4h if not more(?) but I'd think that I would have put it on charging before just to make sure that it doesn't cut out on the next rehearsal. Either way, 2,5h sounds a bit low for a fresh battery of same type and rating??

      OK, then I'll have to test it more thoroughly.
