I’m so excited for miss a to have a plan for reunification and that you all pushed for it to be a process. When I was younger my mums best friend had a foster daughter for years while she was in care her mum passed away, but they finally managed to find her dad. And over night she went from being in our lives every day for over 2 years to being with her dad and no contact. I know me and her foster mum always think about where she is now how she copped if her life with her dad was good or bad. We create story’s for her what her life was like and they help I wish we had that good bye moment

I'm so glad you were able to connect with your first foster daughter again, and I'm really, really glad she's doing well! How great that she and Miss A have also connected. They can relate to each other in a way that some other teens just can't, should they ever want to chat about any of that stuff (of course, I bet they also just chat about a ton of average teen stuff too).

I'm so glad you guys got a call from her!! You are so lucky and it's so good to hear that your state has a transition plan, in NJ there's really no proper transition, it was an overnight disaster, too many people were just not supported especially the kin that was gaining a new child whom they knew nothing about and there was a language barrier. We moved to Vermont now and I'm filling out my application! So relieved to be learning about VT's system and how family oriented it is! I'm so happy that reunification is almost near! I never realized that process of how foster care works s thanks for sharing. Especially when it come to reunification. Idk if you've answered this before, but what are the other end ups of foster care? You said something about a kinship with family, is there more to that that you can share in general? I'm very glad that the reunification works in stages of days to weekends to finally fully being with the family. Her siblings and parents and her must be so happy. It really seems like a system that has children's best interests in mind, and works with the family

I’m so happy your previous foster child made contact and I hope she stays in your life. Some in my family still keep in touch with 2 nieces that were foster kids. Both were about 15 when they came to live with my sibling and basically aged out of the program but they are still my nieces (and they are in their 30s now). Actually going Sunday to spend the day with one (and her family) and do some canning. Really looking forward to it. Great ladies, both of them.
I am glad that you were able to do this. My mom and dad are foster parents. We fostered for placements before taking a very very long break, around seven or eight years or so. We have now had our second placement for almost 3 years now. We have never heard anything from the other four placements. One ended up living in our same neighborhood. The others went back with their families.
I had a friend who was in foster care. My seventh grade English teacher was her foster parent. She was with them for a year. She was the nicest person I have ever met in my life. We were such good friends. It hurts to talk about her because I miss her. I have not been able to see her since November when she went back with her family. She was the mother to her siblings. Because of this, she was very mature, almost too mature. I am six years older than her, but we thought the same. Well, I am seven years older than her now. She was always so considerate with other people; She could tell how you were feeling and was always so happy. She was only nine years old when she went back. I really miss her and hope that she is doing well. I know that she is smart and she knows what is sensible and what is not. I know that she will do well in her life. I hope that she gets out of where she is. Her name is Janeicia.

I hope that you will be able to do this a lot more in the future and that you will be able to have contact with all of your future foster placements once they leave. Thank you for all that you do. Is it hard for Miss A to juggle longer visits with homework?
Good question, not so far.
Be The Village I’m watching my own kids, that age, have to skip after school activities, but that is a whole lot different than Miss A. having to juggling something a lot more important. I’d think some teachers would understand, but high school is a different ball game. It’s much harder to catch up.

What is a kinship home? Was she adopted?
Kinship is where you go into a home that is someone from your family. My cousins kids are currently in kinship and are with family until the parents can get custody again
