Another great video guys. Thanks for all the information. Question for you - can a damaged EGR cooler also introduce combustion gases into the coolant system and if so, how can you test to see whether it's the head gasket or the EGR cooler?
I'm so grateful that I found your channel. Wow what a blessing you are. Finally a video I can what see and understand how things really work. Thank you!!
Mine was unfortunately a crack cylinder head. Thank you for the information, I was able to say their repair shops sometime by pointing them in the right direction of what could be the problem.
A leaking head gasket can cause to much pressure Easy to diagnose take cap off start the car let it get hott there is a tester looks like a big syringe with no needle lol has yellowish die in it u put in big syringe put it on where radiator goes if it turns color u got a head gasket leak easy enough the tester is cheap get it anywhere it’s called a combustion leak detector
I have a question. I have an Infiniti G 35 coupe that when I start up in the morning when it’s cold or any temperature pressure builds up in the radiator hoses right away like seconds , but it’s not a head gasket. The car does not overheat the reservoir never gets above max. The OBD2 reads normal in between 185 and 210 depending on the weather, both fans are operating at the proper temperatures, the heater works great in the winter But after driving for a half an hour or so normal driving, the engine is just scorching hot. I don’t know if that’s how these cars just get but you cannot touch anything on the motor yet. It only reads 180 to 210° do I have a plugged up radiator when I put a spill free funnel in it fluid fills it halfway up and then it stays that way throughout the whole temperature range. There are no air bubbles even when I squeeze the hoses. and of course you can’t see if the radiator is flowing Because of the spill free funnel, and there’s no way to run the vehicle with the radiator cap off without the funnel freeze just pushes out. Is this normal?
Thanks for the video. I have an issue that is stumping me. Volvo xc 70 5 cy. Tested for head gasket and the Co2 tester did not change color, which tells me on exhaust in coolant. But the water level in the reservoir (there is no radiator cap), fluctuates and pumps water and air out. It acts like the motor is overheating but the temp gauge reads within the normal range. If i drive it much, it will overheat. There is a radiator leak and a new one is ordered - i repaired this one with plastic epoxy, and it's almost stopped. Thermostat was removed for the test. i have two radiator caps, and it acts the same with either one. Is there anything else that would cause this geyser effect in the cooling system??? Thanks
I brought a disco td5 and it had the head gasket replaced but it was building up with pressure but removed the head and seen a a score in the head and the in print on the gasket they said it was skimmed but it wouldn’t have a score if the case so I’ve brought thermostat gasket kit and cap for tank what’s your thoughts I’m doing rebuilding the morning
Hope you doing well. I have 2010 chevrolet cruze matic. Just want to ask how to fix coolant reservior with atf fluid. Or anybody out there with same problem needs your important inputs to resolved on it.
My car wouldn't start this morning, well it started for 3 seconds and stumbled before dying then not starting. I took the radiator cap off and it had a lot of pressure and blew coolant on me (it was cold btw). I then pulled plugs to see if they were white and they looked fine. I started the car with the radiator cap off and it started no problem, it slowly pushed out a bit of coolant along with some bubbles then it stopped and didn't push any more out and no more bubbles. I'm hoping it's not a headgasket. The car doesn't have white smoke out the exhaust and plugs look fine. I previously had an issue with the radiator cap but I don't think that would cause it to build pressure in the system while cool would it? Strange.
@@OkieDokedU Unfortunately it ended up being the headgasket was blown on cylinder #4 and was pushing exhaust gas into the cooling system, luckily none went into the oil. Strange thing was I did a compression test and it came out perfect, all cylinders were within 3PSI of each other yet the headgasket was bad, but after thinking about it, a cylinder has way way more pressure when running and combusting than just moving up and down so it makes sense I guess. Anyway, I had the engine rebuilt so it's all good now.
I am having issue with my e46 m3 overheat only when AC is running after 30 to 1 hr then it goes down then backup everything has been replace except the radiator need help
My coolant gets all bubbly but the car over heats while driving it in city and not on longer motorway way routes if i leave the cruise on on motorway the car won’t heat up but if i drive aggressively it over heats that results in complete loss of coolant and pressure from the pressure hose next to the radiator cap
hi, there is no pressure at all in my cooling system even after the vehicle has run for longer hours, rather the coolant escapes to the reservour tank then out. there is no leakage and i have replaced radiator caps so msny times, the problem is still the same...any ideas?
Hi there, I have an issue with my Holden cruze, the pressure and bubbles back out the reservoir. After I drove for 15 mins, the radiator was still cold. 2 top and bottom radiator hoses were hot. I bled the air several times but still the same. The radiator and thermostat were new.
Like so many other UA-cam site side here it is very aggravating and annoying to hear the loud music or loud revving the engine right at the beginning of the video... It would be nice if you could come up with something a little more subtle
My coolant tanks keep cracking and leaking. I had 3 coolant tanks, new waterpump, new thermostat. No other symptoms at all....the coolant tanks just keep cracking after a few weeks/months. Did 3 head gasket tests...all 3 negative...no clue what else can it be..that increases pressure and cracks my coolant tanks
If there is only a minor exhaust leak into coolant, will a lower rated psi (e.g. 15 psi instead of 21 psi) coolant expansion tank cap be used? I have come across an engine that rises pressure near the cap limit shortly after shutting off. And in many cases after hot restarting the engine (e.g. 5 min after refueling) the engine jerks as coolant seeps into the cylinder and fouls one of the spark plugs. I believe this can work, especially if 50-50 coolant is used. There is no need to have 21 psi cap, it is just overkill.
I need help. I change my cylinder head it was blowed (mechanical told me cylinders are not very good, he see that antifriz has go there when my head blow). But now with new cylinder head i have problem with my antifriz level. When i will off engine after drive, there is normal level of antifriz. It is always after maximum line. But in meanwhile antifriz level is going down under the minimum line, and when i start engine there is sign to check coolant. Before i open cap there is missing antifriz (under minimum line), but when i open cap there is little pressure and antifriz is coming to normal line between min and max line. I dont have white smoke, i dont have bubbles in coolant. I have 2.0 TDI BKD 2005
@@aymangamal7469 i fix it with something like liquid that is put in antifreeze. Probably there was little hole somewhere, and with that liquid you will fix it. The best option is to find where is hole and change the that part. Do you have white smoke on first start or maybe in driving?
HEY...heyyy.....what about that Crap Factory Oil Housing on BMW minis...with the 4 only bolts and a oil port and coolant port that has a rubber...flubber gasket if it's old or car heats up the gasket will harden.. Would a bad water pump cause excessive pressure?
Iam wondering the same because i have this issue.Air Pressure build up in the radiator .If its the water pump then its a cheap fix.
take the radiator cap off it has all kinds of pressure underneath and then that losing air noise up top quits
Can someone tell me what this could be please

Can a dodgy water pump cause this?

How would the water pump allow air into the system?
Why is water pressure hose tight
