scotty i cant afford a new toyota or honda suv what will be a good new suv
tom johns one not purchased maybe?
I am starting to think scotty does these videos because he likes to hear himself talk. Not much info here
I use Clorox. Cleans the seals up in the injector.
Bullydog turner is king
I didn't know scotty was capable of speaking without yelling at me!
@@21millionreasons10 if only they still existed and were prescribed in the U.S.!!!!
Haha! Haven't heard "ludes" in AGES!
in the 80's, we called Honda Preludes Quaaludes.
I was wondering if Scotty was okay. I thought he was sick or something. You just made me realise that he's probably perfectly fine, just not yelling!
I liked the less over the top style, actually.
Pleasant surprise!
your older posts always intrigued me, but listing and watching this calmer, slow enough to digest it better, very explanative version of your work, has sold me. You seem to have entered a higher level of communicating and getting your point across. I love it. keep it up.

This is my favorite video you've put out. The slower talking, extended explanations, video editing, layman terms, etc... makes your content so much easier to consume.
Hey Scotty hope you and your family are well. I am just an old homeless veteran Living in my old 1998 Lexus es 300. It has 150,000 miles currently. I watch your videos all the time. They help keep my mind off my troubles. Take care.
Working on my 2vans always keeps me out off trouble.
Wishing you well Troy, what area are you in?
@Thank you Mr. Kumar for your kind words. Hope you are well also. I am currently in the Mountains of Colorado.
buddy i feel for you. i lived in my 94 ls400 for 3 months in the summer... broken a/c and 10 mpg didn't help
Just got rid of my 2001 es300 beautiful car wishing you well dude
Scotty, What a great job you did on this video! The pace, graphics & animation, and just the right amount of information; all within 10 minutes. You have "tuned" yourself for maximum horsepower. Much appreciated!
I totally agree
This is one of the best videos you've produced! Outstanding.
I absolutely love your new video formats. So informative and well produced. Thanks!
Scotty-
This new video format (high end crap) is really growing on me..... Keep it up, I'll keep watching and subbed!! 👍👍
Great work my man.
Scotty, This video was amazing! First class and very informative. Thanks for posting
LOVED THE VIDEO TUTORIAL!! It was informative yet simple to understand (not overwhelming). Thank You!
Great Intro to Automotive Technology 101, Scotty. Anyone could learn from this video. It won't make them a mechanic but it will provide a basic understanding. Very well put together and presented even if we don't have the laughing animals and the junkyard..
Hey Scotty, I've always enjoyed your videos but this was even better.... would love to see you do like a series of them about all the different systems...and then some for older school muscle cars and the newer tuner ones....I've got an 89 mustang GT that I put a Holley sniper system on so I am able to see and adjust almost everything...I'm a noob in this area and am still learning and my favorite part was the fuel ratio stuff... thanks for continuing to pass on knowledge. 👍
I enjoyed that Scotty very informative. Keep up this new channel great
Man Scotty I've been following you for quite some time. I know you're a certified Master Mechanic and all, but I didn't think you'd be getting this technical with the engine processes. However you always make it easy to understand and follow along. I didn't know jack about fuel injectors before other than they cost me $500/more when they fail (on a 2013 C-Max TWICE!). But now I do thanks to you, great video! 👍🏻
Hey scotty! I hope your having a great day man, thank you for this video!
hello and thanks you too!
I don't normally find the need to leave a comment.
But I've been watching your show for awhile, and this is honestly the most interesting and well put together videos you've ever done. I'm sure it took a lot of time and effort, but it shows and it's of excellent quality 💯
Scotty, thank's for all your videos, you have made, I saved thousands of $ on repairs over the years, and also for which car to buy. You are the best, good wishes to you and your family.
Another great class from Kilmer University where you actually learn something useful and practical every day - AND its free!
Scotty, you are a legend. SO much information in a short video, not to mention you warn people not to just throw a cheap canned device on their car. Keep doing your thing!
Most informative car video I c
I have seen. Thank you.
Go Scotty ! Always explanations in layman's terms for us dummies to understand. Bravo
Thanks Scotty, another great show.
Your videos are so good. Thank you for your dedication and kindness. Your one of a kind .
I really really really enjoy your new documentary format of videos. Super entertaining and super educational. I'm sure they are much more difficult, research-intensive, labor intensive and costly to do. In that regard, I hope your AdSense return is adequate to cover the additional expense of the new format. Please keep it up and thank you.
Scotty, I really like this new format. Looking forward to more like this.
The Honda one was really good as well.
I installed a tune on my 2007 5.7L Toyota engine at 281,000 miles, it runs smoother, makes more HP & TQ and the transmission shifts more precisely without hunting for gears. This was my first experience with tuning a computerized vehicle, and IMHO it was money well spent.
@Robert Slackware That be great long as you have the knowledge and skills to do everything right without damaging your vehicle somewhere down the line sooner or later? I for one don’t have that skill set or knowledge otherwise I would too!
You sir are how I have finally started to understand auto mechanic. I’ve had the itch for it my whole life, not till last year when I can across your channel did I finally step out into the world of auto mechanic. My son is only 2 and every time he gets my phone he pulls up one of your videos and just sits there listening and watching. Your awesome man thank you
8:50 True haha!
Great videos, i see you decided to upload them to your main channel instead of the new one lol.
So I'm still waiting to see what's illegal about changing a fuse..
Me too
ditto
If the fuse is for the lockup torque converter clutch, maybe? California is very picky about anything that can affect emissions and mileage.
Looking for the forbidden fuse....
Right around 8:35 he talks about some tunes being illegal , probably against safety and emission regulations set by certain states
My father-in-law shared a funny story where a few years ago he had a newly qualified mechanic working on his car which has a carby. He asked the mechanic to increase the idle speed... and the mechanic shrugged as he does not know how to do this. I guess he is trained on all the modern engines but not on the fundamental designs of a classic engine.
WISH WE HAD MORE MECHANICS LIKE SCOTT!!!
Thank you
no
Thank you Scotty ! This was a very comprehensive explanation. It'll make it easier for me to help my kid (new driver) understand what tuning an engine involves. Hopefully it will also deter him from spending money trying to tune our reliable 1999 Toyota Corolla affectionately known as Ms Daisy.
I really enjoyed this video of yours, very informative and different from your other videos.
Very informative and interesting video.
Thanks Scotty!
You are a true proffesional , great video well done!
I watch most of your videos but I'm really liking these new style doc style videos 💪🏽🤜🏽🙏🏼 stay safe and healthy 🙏
Scotty your awesome man. Thank you for giving us free honest knowledge of vehicles. You should be a college professor teaching
The good old Carby days how it will be missed. I remember tuning tuning triple Webber carbs by ear while someone else was driving lol, Keep up the great content scotty your a bloody legend mate :)
Sure thing bruh…
This is very cool! I aim to learn how to tune. Thank you Scotty!
Great vid Scotty. Seriously good content and well delivered.
So informative. My GF used to hate the sound of your voice but when she realized how much she and I are learning from listening to you, now she’s hooked. Keep up the good work and thank you.
Lol!!
Anyone remember the days of using a vacuum gauge setting up your spread bore Carter thermoquad?
Those were the fun days!
@W R Sporing
Yep! Don’t know why they keep it! Maybe hoping and PU truck to fall apart n my barn !
Your videos have improve tremendously. Great job. Very informative.
I love the older cars. I had a newer mustang and explorer and they sucked to work on. I had a 79 Silverado with a 350 and you could climb into the engine compartment if you had to to get to something. Very basic and literally could fix anything on it myself for cheap. Now these cars are packed to the hood with crap and everything cost a fortune to replace
Thank you for the video..Have a blessed day..
Scotty love the fact that you always keep up with everything out there. I recently got Hondata. I'm sure you've heard about this. I flash a 6psi tune on my new Civic Sport Hatchback 2020. I installed an intake and tune the AFM to take the most advantage of the hardware and to make sure fuel trims are within 1%. I am not sure how much this can cut the life of an engine but sure the Civic is amazing to drive now. I know you own the celica, matrix and the Lexus. Would love for you to try a civic tuneD with HONDATA.
MR. Kilmer! What I like about your current video representation is that it is as instructional as it is informative. Thank you!
scotty your new style of video is great! i learnt so much from your videos and you inspired me to do mechanics. thank you
Thank you very much for being a young mechanic inspite of being old by age
Hmm I don’t know if I can trust Scotty if he’s not yelling at me from a Toyota with 500,000 miles.
This is how I feel about tuning i like the more performance idea but strongly feel that some thing will go wrong.
GREAT VIDEO!!!
Hey Scotty, Your really hitting your stride now. I really like these videos
Very well explained and detailed description of tuning. Visuals are great and how you simplified it all! Love it brother
Scotty, Great amazing video with easy diagrams to see as well. Thanks for taking the time to make this and showing how the computer works on the vehicles.
Really have learned and continue to learn from you. You do a phenomenal job of explaining things. And on this style of commentary your voice is very easy to listen to. Kind of like a Well documented National Geographics. So Thank You!!
I still missed the modification.
I enjoyed this video. Thank you for sharing.

Knowledge ... Love it.
Great work Scotty great narrative voice tone. I never realize you had that quality to you until I recently started listen to your documentary videos. You could truly be working for the History Channel or the like.
it took years for Scotty to figure out how engines work . but for all his life he knew how to work on them . proud of you scotty keep learning. and keep on keeping on !
Scotty, your production looks so professional! I'm impressed
Easily impressed? Indeed
Scotty, these mini info episodes are fantastic. Well done!
Scotty! You do a great job with this channel.👍
Awesome video scotty!! Keep em coming
Dangit, I came here to be entertained by scotty's flailing arms and got educated instead. Great job Scotty, informative and entertaining as always.
Scotty, I’m a new subscriber and I’ve been binge watching your videos . Great content, thank you. You should do a Masterclass and I would be front and center. All The Best.

MR KILMER , i thought you were already amazing with your vids ... well, you are getting better ! Words to properly praise you are for what you do for us ... well, ... not sure anymore what to say ! :D THANK YOU !
Love the way you explained this. Reminds me of auto class.
Scotty! This was awesome! I love the 'How it's made' style voice over!
II have been a fan of Scotty for a long while. Very helpful information. I especially enjoy the added graphics in the windows to accent Scotty's commentary. Which is why I was surprised when he said the ignition of the fuel/air mixture causes an explosion. I'm sure he knows that explosions in the combustion chamber causes knocking and can wreck engines. The ignition of the mixture properly burns it and causes a rapid increase in pressure and temperature which pushes the piston away from the head. I wish to reiterate how much I enjoy Scotty's videos. Thanks
It sounds like you just described an explosion, lol. Explosion in the combustion chamber, during the combustion stroke, is the goal. Bad fuel, with not enough octane rating, exploding while a valve is still open (not during the recognized combustion stroke) causes the engine knock that will ruin the motor if the driver doesn't fix the problem causing it. Often, but not always, shelling out the extra ten to twenty cents per gallon for 89 or 91 octane gas instead of the cheapest, 87 octane fuel, solves the problem.
My dad said that back in the day that removing 100lbs of weight was like adding 25 HP.
Had a bad dream we lost you Mr.Kilmer , you've taught me so much. My dad is a transmission mechanic but has only worked transmissions. You've taught me about the other stuff. Thank you
Just recalling the days when you could advance the timing, mess with the distributor and port the carburetor install cut offs and oxygen injectors and zooooom off ! LOL
That stuff is already done for you nowdays so you need to be more creative
Very informative video Scotty. keep it coming.
Everything you said is bang on the money! (I've written embedded software for CAN bus and know my way around it). Cheers.
These videos always make the back in the day cars seem simple and cheap to operate. Back then ( say around late 60's) you tuned up your car every year, new spark plugs and new points. About $29 dollars which today is $240.00. Oil changes were every 3 months or 3000 miles and you would also get a lube job on your shocks, another $130 in today's dollars. Tires lasted about 20,000 miles at best. This was before radials were invented so another $100 for four or $825 in today dollars. Gas always seemed cheap, say 50 cents a gallon but that is over $4 today.
6 for gas now 🥲

Would love to visit places like Plovdiv, the capital in Sofia as well

Thank U master Scotty, so nice and understandable. 👍👍👍
Appreciate your video so informational for someone just starting in the automotive industry! Appreciate you Scotty! Can you do another video on BMWs? Nothing specific just more information on the vehicles themselves - NOT BMW history
ive got 502311 km on my E36 BMW and not once did it let me down.....so BMW is all i would ever buy if i want a long lasting engine....BMW 4 LIFE

I really like hearing about tuning your ECU !!! I wanted to see about up grading my ECU on my C230 but at the time did not have the money , and I was afraid my car might not run right. 🤔
Simple and informative, just like always. Respect Scotty.
Greetings from Iraq.
Love this new type of video you'rr making scotty more like this please
Always look forward to all your videos scotty .
Loved this video and the way you presented the information
This was really well done. Simple and easy to understand. I assume you werent the one who did the graphics on the carb about the two screws that are adjusted? Obviously, those are not the mixture screws but simply the screws holding the butterfly plate on.
Could that be the fault of a bad relay?
Duh - and you can't 'TUNE' an engine using the carb....ferchrissakes

SCOTTY!!! Well done on the video!!! Well done!! Perfectly explained. Wow ❤
It helps a lot if you have experience of tuning old carburettors by ear and feel and tuning ignition with lamp so when you first time open the files downloaded from your later model car you already know what you are doing, and also wideband o2 meter helps you to get even better results and you don’t have to trust your old ear&feel method anymore 😃
