- These are about as fast as they get here on the West Coast. The Northeast Corridor is faster, but it has more aerodynamic trains compared to these boxy beasts. Most of them were going 90 MPH. This is one of a few places along the Surfline where they go that fast, but here, it's really through the heart of town.

It looks like they both were but couldn't tell the video because he moved towards his right and zoomed out a bit!
Amazing quality! what camera is that?
Thanks! I used a Panasonic GX85 for this video.
Do you know where the best place to film is, like North of Irvine? Im looking for some nice action this weekend.
I’m more of an expert south of Irvine but Fullerton is a very popular spot because you get Amtrak Surfliner, Amtrak Long Distance trains, and a bunch of BNSF on its way to LA. I find that the station is usually pretty crowded with people filming which is kinda annoying and you end up feeling like you’re in peoples ways, so I used to set up somewhere along the tracks there were there weren’t so many people.
I would say Los Nietos double crossing and rosecrans crossing
go to canon rd
Great video. How many trains from dawn to dusk does Carlsbad see?
I think around 40, between Coaster, Amtrak and BNSF.
@@austin.700 That is not bad. We’re planning a trip around July and were doing some research. Thank you.
@@distant2bowden Awesome! Glad I could help.
If you want to see a lot of bnsf freight trains don't go to Carlsbad
COOKIE JAR
why are they using a capital quarter car on the sirfliner
I think they have a few extra up in Los Angeles that they use to substitute cars here sometimes. Not really a rare sight, maybe a train a day or so has one on it.
