And what if a toy was from Japan shipped to the US how you expect to replace it if it ever breaks? Go to Japan? Contact the Seller in the far future? The Seller is not the Warranty Police. And what IF the item in Japan is no longer made what then? If there is no one that can fix something you may have to rely on not only a person that know electronic toys but if a plastic weakened you will have to either invest in a 3D Printer or pay for a 3D print to remake the part.
If your buying gaming headsets and controllers they are 100% worth it specifically if you live in the middle of nowhere they usually do a settlement for me
It's worth it if you have a strong belife it will get damaged. And only accidents coverage plans. Never buy a "defect only" warranty. They're a waste of money, especially if you bought a good brand. They likely already cover those issues for 90 days to a year. I do have some plans. Like screen damage or return garentee. For instance. I bought a 65 inch tv for $1200. And about 2 years later we moved and it was damaged in the process. Well, i had a 3 year no questions asked replacement plan. And got a newer better tv and just paid the diffrence in price between what i originally paid for my tv and the new one. Depending on what you buy, you could pay nothing or get money back. I wanted to upgrade, so i spent around 200 more and got the next step up. The warrenty only cost 100. So i effectively replaced my tv f with a better one for $300.
While this may be the case for your average laptop, as an appliance technician I can pretty much say this is 100% FALSE. If you are making a big appliance purchase GET the 5 year plan. People don’t understand that they are not making appliances like they used to and they WILL need repairs during their lifetime. I’ve seen MAJOR failures in newer appliances that had the owner not purchased the extended warranty the appliance would be totaled or nearly. Keep in mind that the average cost of the plan that covers parts and labor is about the same as a company like mine charges JUST TO DIAGNOSE THE APPLIANCE ONCE.
Walmart/Allstate WILL NOT honor the protection plan. Just return the item and ask for a gift card.

I bought an 5 year extended from Lowes for a refrigerator. They would not fix or replace it. Lowes is a scam.
The store would not replace it because you still had manufacturer warranty, dumbo.

New appliances are absolute garbage...they're designed to fail.
Cool I’ll get the longer term items for warranty
Extended warranties are for suckers. I got suckered into that scam once. Never again.
Allstate and square trade does not protect damaged equipment, just found out today.....its crap
So in other words, they ARE worth it just only for certain things like appliances.
