In my opinion these companies need to be investigated.

DO NOT go with American Home Shield!!!! Not sure about other home warranty companies but AHS is a horrible company that needs to go bankrupt!!!
I had Shield Platinum plan with AHS when my
HVAC went out in July in northern VA. The fan motor was the problem. AHS first lied about supply chain issue over not being able to fix the motor.
I caught their lie when I called the servicing contractor and they informed me that AHS didn’t even order the parts.
When I confronted AHS after suffering in over 90 temperature for three weeks, they said their parts order department was backlogged and it will take them a few more days to order.
I requested a cash out offer for me to replace the motor myself. Although customer service promised the offer paperwork in a few says, it took them another week to send me the offer which was half the estimated cost.
I declined the offer and requested to AHS continue with the process of ordering the parts.
This is when my nightmare really started.
Although the customer service person promised this will not happen, if you request a cash out offer they you push you to the end of the line for parts order and fix. They promised this will not happen until I accept the offer.
When I declined the offer and asked about the status of the parts, the operator told me that they cancelled the order and it will take them a few more weeks to order the parts!!!!!
    The madness doesn’t stop there.
Not wanting to suffer more, I decided to accept the original cash offer. The customer service again promised me that since they already had the cash out calculation, I will receive the offer in24 hours. Lol Fat chance..
Not wanting to suffer more, I had the fan motor fixed myself.
A few days after customer service informed me it will take them a few more weeks to order the parts and I requested the cash out offer the second time, I got a call from the original servicing contractor saying they received the parts from AHS….
I informed the contractor that I fixed the issue myself and was waiting for the cash out offer from AHS.
AHS even tried to charge me restocking fee for the parts.
The only thing that held AHS to their side of the deal was because I started recording my conversation with AHS and threatened them with going online before they finally settled.
Bottom line, It took me over three months to get the cash out offer.
Do NOT go with American Home Shield.

So true about American Home Shield being a terrible company.I cancelled a day after they took out the payment and they would not give a refund, then charged me almost $70 cancellation fee!!!!! After all their talk about being able to cancel when you want to....

Had she put that $49.00 aside for those 13 years she would have had $7,644.oo which would have bought her a hew unit. I have been thinking about American Home Warranty, but I've seen to many complaints. I am going to set aside a payment every month strictly for future repairs!

I think I'm gonna do the exact same. We just bought a home a week ago and was debating getting a warranty. But after seeing so many complaints I think I'll just put money aside every check automatically and not touch it

I work at another home warranty company and i always tell the people around me to never get one unless you are 100% sure it will help you

I set aside $50 every week for that. When something major breaks, I will have the cash to fix it, the freedom to buy whichever product I choose, and I can use whichever company I want or do it myself if possible. If these companies were such a great deal for us, they wouldn't be able to afford to stay in business.

I have HomeServe for my warranty. I have plans for my heat, A/C, sewer line, and indoor/outdoor electrical wiring. I only pay $24 a month for all those, and it’s put into my electric bill.

Ms. Dee finally got her heat installed yesterday (2 years later), but unfortunately it was actually the same unit. yep they took out then reinstalled the same unit. they'll be back in a couple of years to fix it. Her premiums are now $99 a month.

Wake up people! Do not waste your money on these scams! Same for Car Shield and other “pay now” insurance scams. Save the premium money yourself and use it when needed.

I bought the insurance of choice home warranty. I have a problem with the air conditioner not cooling. And I contacted choice home warranty to fix it. And they contacted SA Heating and air conditioning to make an appointment. But CHW technican arrived late. And they looked for less than 5 minutes and said that the refrigerant coil was broken and couldn't be fixed and had to be replaced systems new . And take me $75 deductible. Then they reported it choice home warranty. In the end they didn't want to fix it

Sounds like some scammers who only jump into action once exposed for the frauds they are. Save what you can so you don't have to rely on these scumbags.

You paid $49 a month for 13 years and now was the first time you needed the warranty .. That's a lot of money you paid out ..Would be better to not have had the warranty ..banked that money for when these situations arise ..Or to just get home loan when you need to replace or fix a big ticket item.. I hopped that after the repair was done you cancelled the policy you had with them...

So, get the home warranty then put them on blast when they fail to deliver 📝

They were put on blast, that's why they saved face. Any ol Joe Schmoe would have gotten the middle finger and door slam from them.

Home warranty of America shame on you! You only fixed her boiler because the news got involved. Listen up home owners. Stay away from this horrible company!
