This Guys House Is Burning Down Meanwhile At The Neighbors Do You Hear That It's Just That Fucking Kid Playing His Fire Alarm Again We Don't Need To Call 911 Did They Go On Vacation Oh Well I Guess Not
It's amazing how you have a generator, it's so FIRE!!! get it? It also amazes me on your power outage videos how you lose power a lot. My Province next to yours I never had an outage ever since I lived here. Not trying to brag, I'm just stating a fact.
That was a really good idea to test the fire alarm for a power outage scenario. To be honest, I'm also surprised that the smoke sensor still tripped so quick with the generator fan running. That's a lot of smoke being blown outside. It must be a big relief knowing that the fire alarm system would still function as intended even in the unlikely event of power outage during a fire. Another great video! Looking forward to the next one! Just a suggestion, but what about using the fog machine to set off the system in future monthly test video? That would be cool.
just as an idea have you thought about putting an EPO(emergency power off) on the generator? something that triggers when the fire alarm goes off or as a inside switch. i think it would be cool to see how you would do it
The most tested fire alarm system ever installed [probably] you've got the detecting a fire part down good - now you should do something to put OUT the fires Also maybe it could be a good idea in the event of a fire to shut off the generator and it's ventilation so as not to give a possible fire a bunch of air to build up. The most likely reason for a fire in that building would be a failure of the generator or some part of it's equipment, which could likely be helped if it was turned off upon smoke detection.
@@nics-systems-electric that red light bulb lamp I need a generator not the strobe light I’m talking about the standard lightbulb. What’s that they are for.
What you should try is putting in a system that switches the fan on and opens the dampers if a fire is detected while the generator is not running. That way, it’ll vent out the smoke pretty quickly, preventing it from building up too much. Kind of like your high school’s smoke exhaust system, in a way!
It's a great idea to have redundant detection systems, and of course to have the generator shed monitored by the alarm panel in the first place. A bit of spilled oil on the generator's muffler, or exhaust fan failure, and you'd be up a certain creek without the proverbial paddle. It's also a great idea to use simulated real-world scenarios for testing. The more contingencies you plan for, the less likely you are to suffer the consequences of failing to plan for the oddball failure. (And, as I've found, the more contingencies you plan for, the less likely they are to ever occur in the first place, because life just seems to work that way.)
Great video as always, Nic! Keep up the good work. Also, I was wondering, if you could do a relay module, that shuts the generator down, if there is an alarm from that smoke or something.
I have a question wouldn’t adding a carbon monoxide detector also be useful as well? Since it’s flammable?? I’d also check to see if your generator is efficient in completely burning the air to fuel mixture!
@nics-systems-electric The fire alarm system would still work since in previous videos you say that these have a battery backup in case of a power outage so unless yours doesn't have a battery backup, which it does because when you had a true power outage the one in your house was still going off battery backup so it would tell you from in the house
12:43 how did your horn strobe get silenced when it’s still flashing? How does it work? I thought that it sound the horn and flashes when it gets power
Audible silence or sync mute or selective silence. All means the same thing many panels that are compatible with their devices have the feature though it's not legal in many places anymore.
@@nics-systems-electric but how do the notification appliances know? Does the panel drop voltage on the NAC circuits or is the strobes somewhat like addressable?
Hay just an idea that I think might help, u could make it so when the generator fire alarms go off it could flip a switch or something that will cut power to the generator or just turn it completely off but keep other things in there on like the fan or direct all power over to the fan and other things.
Are there fire alarm systems that can connect to network for remote management? Thought about it when you had to go into the house to make modifications. I imagine connecting to network could be a security and reliability issue for life safety, but was just curious.
A thing you could have done was activate the system without power. Like switch the breaker to the pannel because if the generator failed to start and caught fire during a power outage, wouldn't there not be power? I know it operates the same with detectors on battery but that would be worse case scenario.
You should program the system to shut down the generator and close the dampers when the generator zone detector trips. Otherwise that fan will just feed the fire with oxygen.
Would it be possible for you to tie the garage fire alarm system into the generator with a relay so that it disables the generator when the fire alarm goes off? If the emergency stop is just a momentary switch then it would be relatively easy to tie it in to one of the alarm relays on the panel (if you have an extra one).
Do the fog machine in the staircase and see if both the staircase detector and upstairs hall go off. Maybe twice one with staircase and then disable staircase detector to see if that detector failed how long the upstairs hall would take to go off
