Such a beautiful song but it definitely hits in the feels! What's next from Evanescence?!
My God Chris, what a rabbit hole you just entered with Evanescence...! Amy Lee is an absolute Goddess of rock and so many other massive hits to check out. 🙋♂
This song makes me cry -- every time. This song hits home for anyone who has suffered a great loss. I always loved the beauty of this song, but after suffering the loss of my brother and mom is four months, this song took on a deeper connection for me. The lyrics are amazing, and Amy Lee's voice is just gorgeous, too.
she's the one that has passed, her feet never touched the ground
Right! And she was always hanging around odd/high places, with no one noticing or interacting with her. Also, I think she might have passed by cutting her wrists, because of the cloths around each hand and how she looked at them. That might also tie-in with the lyric “I held your hand for all of these years…”
Amy Lee is amazing.
My fav female rock voice just ahead of Ann Wilson in 2nd and Stevie Nicks 3rd
My favorite female vocalist! ❤❤❤❤❤ Evanescence also a great band.
Amy Lee has one of those voices that just oozes with emotion.
Nice reaction!! Evanescence is great. Amy Lee a goddess no one like her. 🖤
May I suggest "Evanescence - The End of the dream Synthesis Live DVD version". ✌🏼
Amy Lee’s Voice is
Hauntingly Angelic
One of the very few bands formed in the 90's decade that actually makes good music and sounds very good. (And Amy Lee is a wonderful singer..)
Ben the guy in the video wrote it with just a little help from Amy. He was inspired by the loss of his grandfather, but it wasn't written about him.
This is their signature song. One of my favorite songs/performances of all time.
Amy Lee is incredible. She does a collaboration with Izzy Hale and Halestorm on the song Break In and it's 🔥🔥 too. 🤙✌️
Her voice is so gorgeous. Got to b top 10 of best vocalists ever.
Not sure why but the song Joey from Concrete Blonde came to mind, you should do away reaction to it
Amy Lee is amazing.love this song and as always you do a great review.
Really appreciate that! 😁
I once did a heart felt interpretation of this video, and was quickly shut down by some of their fans (I guess) telling me it's about her sister that died. That must have been horrible and it gave birth to this beautiful song ofcourse. But I was talking about the video. So for over 10 years I actually haven't commented on it though watched it 100 of times. Great reaction. Hugs from Sweden.
Just so you know, those that attacked you were wrong. This song was written by Ben Moody, Amy Lee wrote the music, Ben wrote the lyrics.
Hello(Fallen) and Like You(The Open Door) were written by Amy for her late sister.
I’m sure your interpretation was fine and most music is open to interpretation
Phenomenal song, and a magnificent performance.
I lost the love of my life last year to breast cancer-10/11/23. Thanks for this one Steven, and for your kind words of support for those of us who have had to deal with the worst losses we could imagine. I’m sure I’m not the only one who’ll see this and feel supported by your heartfelt reaction.❤️
Sorry for the multiple comments. We’ve got winds gusting up to 60 mph right now and my devices are glitching.😅❤️
I am so sorry and cannot imaging the pain you are going through! My prayers are with you and thank you for sharing! 🙏🏻
Hello young man I am by far one of the toughest meanest s.o.b.you ever seen nothing makes me cry except this every time the beautiful Amy Lee sings this song no matter how hard I try not to I get a tear to my eye she's got a voice like an angel looks like an angel if I knew young man I was going to take my next to last breath very soon my last wish would be for her to come and sing this song just as I take my last breath while laying in my head on her lap while she sings it
Awesome reaction. This is one of my all-time favorites. It's haunting. Another take I've seen on the meaning of the song is the pain people experience when a loved one struggles with addiction. The people addicts become are often complete strangers from the person they were before addiction, which makes the line, "I've tried so hard to tell myself that you're gone But though you're still with me, I've been alone all along" very potent.
As I understand it the guy playing piano wrote this after losing his grandad, Amy is playing the part of the spirit (dressed in white and never touching the ground), and singing what he's thinking
Isn't her feet touching the ground when she's walking around the water fountain?
@@RitaMoriartey-k4d nope.
This song has so much feeling in it. I absolutely love Amy's voice. The band is killer. Always has been! ❤❤❤❤👍👍🫵🫵🤘🤘
Saw them last month and they still sound great!!!
Your honesty is always appreciated. My stepbrother Paul passed away six days ago, complications from diabetes and alcoholism. He played bass in his teens and sang in his high school band. They did Van Halen covers. He even did the split jumps like DLR. He was a sweet and gentle soul but his demons got the best of him. I haven't been able to grieve until now. Thanks Steven.
I am so sorry and thank you so much for sharing! My prayers go out to you and your family! 🙏🏻
One of the most beautiful, emotional songs ever written, sung by Amy Lee, who has one of the most beautiful, emotional voices ever heard, if you don't get moved in some way by this, there's something wrong. It's always been obvious you have a huge heart, it's what makes this channel so 'S Tier'. Thank you. ✌❤
You are so kind and thank you so much! Truly means alot! ❤️
"what an experience.." exactly. Perfect reaction. Much love.
Ben Moody wrote the piano and lyrics for the song for Evanescence’s first album, but they didn’t include it. When he told the others he was leaving the band, the sentiment and emotion pushed it back to the forefront of their own radars again, and they gave the rights to use it on the Daredevil soundtrack. Its reception led to a re-record for their then new album, and during the filming of the video, Amy’s voice broke with tears several times and required multiple reshoots. Hearing how the song resonated with people and their own stories of loss both then and now make it the hardest song she’s ever sung, not technically but emotionally (her own words).
Having met her some ten years earlier when she was the girlfriend of a guy I knew in Little Rock, I was amazed at the power this then quiet Goth chick had when this song was released, and I still am :)
Your reaction made me emotional just like the song always has. Thank you for sharing.
Thanks for hanging out! ❤️
This song tortures me as it makes me think of my dearly deceased wife of 43 years. Man how I miss Betts ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
God bless you man
I am so sorry! My prayers are with you! 🙏🏻❤️
You have to do My heart is broken (official music video) with Evanecense. It´s amazing.
This was their second hit after "Bring Me To Life". The original version was written by guitarist Ben Moody and Amy Lee when they were 15, in 1996, and rewritten for the 2003 album Fallen. Moody, who wrote the lyrics, has said it's not based on any real experience, just a story about being haunted by the spirit of a departed loved one. For me, this arrangement takes you through the stages of grief, especially with that explosion of anger towards the end, fading into a final acceptance.
I have heard this is about a sister that she cared for who died
Lost the love of my life last year, October 11, 2023, to breast cancer. Thank you for this one Steven, and for your kind words regarding how much this hurts when it happens.❤️
so sorry for your loss
🙏🏻❤️
Amy Lee is also the one playing the piano. It just shows him in the video though.
I love this song so much. Its one i listened to over and over again when my fiance past away a month before our wedding and i was pregnant at the time and started losing the baby the day before the funeral. I was in a very very dark place. Even though its been 13 years hes been gone, this song still gets me every time
@@tiffanytrainer4674 Goodness!! My prayers go out to you and you are so strong for even being able to share! Continue to keep fighting! ❤️🙏🏻
Angel voice with a top notch bunch behind her.Keep it up,my friend, you are going to be at 50k soon.
Thanks so much! 😁
Bro, you really gotta check out amy lee and wagakki band doing " bring me to life" youll thank me i promise
Another great song to check out is We Belong Together by Gavin Degraw
I don't listen to this kind of music much. I have a classical / folk background, though I listen a bit to most music genres. I first heard of Evanescence when I saw a dancer perform to "My Immortal", got obsessed with the song, bought the "Fallen" album and listened to the whole album obsessively for weeks. I'm old enough to remember when music was released in album form, and the songs on some albums were carefully arranged to create an experience. That seems to me to be how "Fallen" was arranged; the songs are all about different aspects of loss and range from mostly acoustic, as here, to really heavy rock.
fantastic voice!
Thank you.
I lost my precious son in 2017 and this brings tears everytime. Love your reactions!
@@quintloehmann5135 I am so so sorry! Thank you so much for sharing and I hope I bring a small amount of happiness to you and yours! 🙏🏻❤️
@@quintloehmann5135 I am so sorry! A parent should not have to bury their babies.
Her acoustic version is mind heart breaking.
For more like this, look to Blue October. A lot of mental health self reflection,
Angel / hate me /James / fear /calling you. Etc
Her sister passed away when she was younger
Excellent reaction 👍
A hauntingly beautiful song❤
They say that good books and poems come from experience and inner feelings of the author. The same is true for music lyrics, which can be considered a short story and/or poem. A good song will put those lyrics to good music. Thanks for sharing. I have never heard of this group before.
Love this one ❤
This song is about her sister who passed
Oh wow! 😞
Celine’s song- Make you Happy
This song was exceptionally difficult to listen to after my son passed away. I'm glad I can hear it again!!🫶🫶🎵🎼🎶🎸🎤🥁🎹🎧🔥
Oh wow! I am so so sorry! I cannot imagine and my prayers are with you! Hope this video blessed you in some way! ❤️🙏🏻

STILL TRYING TO GET THIS ONE YOU'LL LOVE- Randy Travis "The Box"
Plot twist: Amy Lee is actually the person that has died and the guy (Ben Moody) is the one that has been left behind.
I love ya Brother
Loved the reaction. This one all ways hits you, no matter how many times you hear it. Loved your thoughts and insight.
Thanks for the kind words! 😁
I really like this song, Amy Lee is a great singer. There's another version of this without the hard rock music near the end, I love rocking tunes and ballads. I actually like the version of this song as a ballad, all the way through, a bit better.
Hi my friend. Love your reviews.
My niece passed away 2 years ago tomorrow at age 28 from ALS (aka Lou Gherig's disease. A horrible way to go) My sister had to care for her mostly by herself with some help from home care services. Etc. My niece finally decided to ender her own life support services and died an hour or so after. My mom passed away on July 8 of the same year at 90 years of age. So, my sister lost her mom and daughter 4 months apart. I don't how she dealt with it...
Wow! I am so sorry for your loss! Really appreciate you sharing and my prayers are with you! 🙏🏻

Wikipedia-The song's words were originally written by Moody from fiction and the music written by Lee on piano when they were 15, after which Lee added the bridge. The lyrics of the song refer to a spirit that haunts the memory of a grieving loved one, according to MTV. Lee considered it Moody's song as he wrote the lyrics. She contributed "a little bit" to the lyrics, but does not connect with the song as it does not have personal meaning to her.
Well but now it does has meaning to her. She has told this quiet a few few times on her live shows.
For those like me who love this song you have to check out Forgiven by Within Temptation. Similarly beautiful, haunting and tragic. I promise you will thank me later.
She's a ghost.. Her feet never touch the ground
Ohhh lord Steven wait till you Jear Miss Amy Lee!!!@
When a epic piece sparks something. We all have different interpretations hearing a song like this. I love how we can feel it different each listen. You got a big heart. Cheers!
Amy Lee the singer and the guy playing the piano they were together for a long time they wrote songs together but he was an alcoholic and she was trying to get rid of him so he left Evanescence and the band from Evanescence made a record and called themselves we are the fallen which is a real good record 0 play The pretty reckless
It kind of reminds me of the build up of i remember you from skid row.
First album was great, but she and Ben Moody split, then the whole band left her. Then she turned political and went to shit
Wow! You are right according to lyrics but it sounds better to say, you still haunt me.But Im not getting the fact that she is supposedly the one who is dead when she says, If you have to leave, I wish you would just leave ,about the guy.
She's not saying you still have all of me. She's saying, you still haunt me
You might need to listen again because she’s definitely singing “you still have all of me”
No, she is saying, "You still have, all of me". Here is a cover of the song by the writer himself, Ben Moody. ua-cam.com/video/8NX_OnVdFlI/v-deo.html
It's a remix
@@RitaMoriartey-k4d You are correct, even the songwriter does not know what he wrote I guess. /s
Do not, for the love of god compare her to Floor Jansen of Nightwish. There is no comparison.
I didn’t mention Floor 🤔
@setonhillstudios Lol, I know man. I've just seen so many people react to Nightwish and say "she sounds like Amy Lee". Just pulling your leg.
@@lw3918 Haha 🤣 I will say the first time I heard Nightwish I probably did the same thing just to find a reference point. They do both have similar operatic symphonic rock styles but still very different! 🤘🏻
@setonhillstudios Floor has way more training. I'm telling ya man you need to do Kamelot "Sacramony" live.
