In college, Tyler had the radio stolen out of his car, and he was unable to replace it for some time, because typical broke college student. And Tyler seems to have a head like mine that *will not shut up*. Like...Constantly over thinking. Running through scenarios that might happen, or might not happen. going back over past scenarios and thinking how it could've been done different. Pondering existential questions..You name it. And there's no control over it. It just happens. It's enough to drive you nuts. And it's even worse when while your head is doing that, you're also suffering from depression and anxiety. Because the constant stuff running through our head peaks the anxiety, while the depression throws thoughts of "kill yourself", "No one loves you" and "The world would be better off without you in it.", and things like that. I suffer the same thing. so what he's talking about is because his car radio was stolen, he now no longer has the distraction of whatever he might play through that radio to help keep him from having to deal with the stuff going on in his head. When your own head is quite literally trying to kill you, you need distractions from it. You need things to quiet it down. And music can help do that, because it gives you something to focus on other than the crap in your head. Also, The masks have meaning. They are a persona. They are your 'public face'. What you show to the world to hide the depression. To hide yourself. And the shaking...It's sort of a tick. It happens to him in times of intense emotion. It's especially noticeable in the Guns For Hands video.
I havent even watched the reaction yet but I subscribed to you simply because you said you were on a Twenty One pilots roll and the Clique is def here fir that!! Keep going, take the entire journey! You and your channel will be glad you did. Tyler and Josh really are those dudes!!! ✌️🤟
this song is so emotional and they do such a good job of combining visuals with their songs that add extra impact and meaning. it's sometimes hard to walk the line between paying attention to your thoughts and not distracting and numbing yourself too much but also not giving your thoughts to much power over you, especially when your mental health isn't in a good place. tyler often uses shaving his head in music videos as a representation of trying to have a fresh start or to represent events happening in a loop or cycle.
This song was the first one that grabbed me and made me a Twenty One Pilots fan. Tyler's music is his escape from anxiety, and depression, and I think it is for many of the fans as well. Notice the fans put the music (Tyler) back on stage to perform for them? We all need our "car radio" to help us get through life.
The Car Radio is what he used to distract him from all his problems so when someone takes that away he has to face his bad thoughts head on The story is true but each persons "car radio" could be something different - could be working out, reading, youtube ,etc - whatever a person uses to keep their mind occupied
All music is subjective. The meaning morphs to what you bring to it. But, at one point in college, Tyler had his radio stolen. And he is emo, so this is the song that came out of that.
