Honestly the best way for me to learn this game was just getting my ass kicked by friends or rando's. It's adept or die and i chose adept when i started. I picked goldlewis for my first ever main character and after much trial and error i can now actually do combo's and it feels so rewarding. This was my first ever fighting game so it took a while to get where i am now (hardstuck floor 8 😂😂). What i recommend for new players is just don't sweat it. You will improve by slamming your head against a wall until you break the wall. Or just pick up my second main man leo and go monkey mode

I feel your pain with different characters. I really *really* wanna play El in Strive because she's incredibly gender but I just cannot escape using Axl. I just locked in super hard knowing how to play him early on in what my friends call "the most headass gameplay they've ever seen".
the skill floor and ceiling in celestial is just huge, from pro players to randoms that get in because their friend let them in but they really are floor ten skill level. I really hope arc sys adds some sort of in game MMR (i know rating update exists but in game would be better) or new floors.

out of those bridget is the most beginner friendly, asuka is one of the hardest characters in all of fighting games. Other good starters are sin, nagoriyuki, giovanna, sol and ky (basically almost everyone)

I really starting taking this game seriously about january/feburary and i locked in with Happy Chaos, im at floor 8 right now. Thats kinda my plateau, im trying to break out of it right now, its hard but im determined to hit celestial.
I got to floor 7 with around 60 hours (admittedly a lot of those where from me sitting in training mode listening to the soundtrack ) And just recently decided to learn hitbox which tbh probably stunted how fast I'll progress but as a plus i get to reinforce how conscious i am of my actions in game which brings me to my point of what makes fighting games fun is the learning process so you are ass that's ok everyone else has probably been just as bad if not worse for probably longer focus improving and having fun and i promise you as long as you don't get distracted you will get better
The way I learnt to play is first busting my fingers to 632146, dps and charge inputs. And then I tried characters. Alot. But when I discovered that Bridget's gameplay is really smooth, my skill gradually improved, and now I am almost at 100 hours with a pretty decent skill. The key to get skill is to find the correct character imo
I got into the music of guilty gear and now I want to buy the game(same deal as my ultrakill experience). I also am somewhat an artist so I am studying the art style too

Ive been a Testament main since XX and it made me so happy they finally brought "them" back! My only real complaint is it feels like they toned "them" down a lot. Least by not having the creepy trees and spider webs, but "they" are still very to play 😊. Now go out and... BULLSHIT BLAZING!!

I heard smell of the game in some memes when GG:ST released, and liked those snippets of the song yet never went looking for it. about a year later whilst listening through a devil may cry V playlist of the OST, the person included Milia's theme: love the subhuman self, due to the themes of DMC being subhumans/demons and so on (that is a bad explanation btw). After finding that song intriguing and realising it wasn't from DMC V, I looked into it and started listening to the songs of Guilty Gear Strive. Ever since then, with each additional song added with new playable characters, the songs have been bangers. even the og ones from the older games. also as someone who was suggested this without previously knowing u, nice oc design
If you want to win in Celestial, pick your fights. Easiest advice that I can give you. The ranking system is broken anyway, skill level between Celestial players is highly varying. So dw abt it and just pick easier opponents and give it your all.
Ive played for years, ive play3d fighting games for like 15 years total, and cant even hit floor ten then i see all these stories of brand new players just reaching celest, i dont get it
It has now been one week for me and I am at Lvl 50 but staying away from Ranked, at least until I step my game up. Just having too much fun with fun loving Bridget~
learning a new character is impossible if you somehow make it to floor 7. be prepared to get your ass beat with a 30 hit combo bec you whiffed a single attack. Also hot take if you see someone who's level 30 below don't be a jerk. you shouldn't need to spend 500 hours in the training area to be able to land a few hits. not even win.. land a few hits
Winning in a game where the goal is to win isn’t “being a jerk”, it’s just playing the game. If you aren’t good enough for a floor, the game will move you down.
Got placed 7 originally and while I can definitely still compete, some things I just have such a little chance against. Trying to switch to Baiken for fun was a death sentence, especially not being able to switch to another character for a rematch. But just focus on defense and learning your opponent and you should be okay imo. Sadly gotta get clapped for experience.
Picked up asuka recently, i usually stay around floor 10/celestial range, but i just picked him up and started playing, i dropped down to floor 7 (i expected to) and just slowly got better and started climbing back up, ranking up really doesnt take that long
She's actually a girl if you go based on what the developers and Japanese community say. It's only some weird westerners that are trying to keep her a guy (there a re plenty of other femboys to enjoy)

also what really helps is to watch high level gameplay and look how your character fights. atleast thats what i did .
And if all else fails, grab some glue and do what the pot players do (mmm, tasty)
