5 and a half hours of footage, 80 gigabytes and two straight days worth of work later, here it is. Not the most requested, but definitely the worst weapon in the series so far. I'm glad you guys have been so eager to support the series by watching it so much and I wanted to make a video I could make quickly but still be proud of and I think I managed that.
A couple people in the community post I made recently mentioned they'd support a Patreon, and I already have one for my main channel, so I thought I'd give it a shoutout at the beginning of the video since it seems a lot of people don't read the description or check the channel banner. If it's annoying or invasive I'll take it out using the editor. I'm not entirely sure what the rewards system should be like for people donating for TF2 content, so feedback on that would be nice and I might make a very short video on it later. Obviously Bad Weapon Academy is a fairly set in stone series since there's a finite number of weapons in the game, so suggestions for episodes of this series are not a viable reward. I'll gladly do things like signed items though if that's something you want.
If you read all this, then thank you. Just watching this series means more to me than you know and you're all amazing. I wish I could tell you what the next episode will be or when it will come out, but that's all dependent on me getting good with another bad weapon. OK a correction needs to be made here. I say in the video that the 55 base damage and 83 explosion damage adds up to 123. I honestly don’t even know how I fucked that up, I wasn’t even sleep deprived when I wrote that. That actually puts the theoretical damage at 138, which honestly just confuses me as it should one shot light classes if that’s the case, and apparently sometimes it does? This thing is horribly inconsistent so I hope you can forgive me for making these mistakes, I wrote it based on my experience more than the actual Wiki stats.
From my experience I can usually kill snipers or scouts in a shot if I can get to them
I’ve never one shotted a light class while knowing they have full health.
The caber extra balancing:make it crits on blast jumping. First explosion will mini crits instead of crit

Well it does need to be refilled with something other than the ammo box
making it rechargable with ammo crates seems justified imo, though if it could do that maybe just make it unusable as a melee when not charged to compensate

Honestly you also should probably be able to surf your own explosion to some extent instead of just getting sent upwards so you could potentially use it as a risky escape option.
Okay 100% chance to do 125 damage but make it to where it makes demo juuust slow enough (with shield) to not be able to chase down a scout running away. Otherwise it would pretty much be a hard scout counter

@@raito6689 The reason it was OP wasn't because it did crits. It was because it did 150 damage in 1 shot, so you could instakill medics. The only real use it saw was with the sticky jumper, so it didn't matter that it did critical hits.

@@largeoctahedron nah their pissing people off but other then that you can just join a community server and boom problem pretty much solved. at this point nothing short of valve removing the game from the store front is likely to kill the game and even then I bet another version of it would take its place anyways. anyone trying to stir up a riot by claiming a game is dead when it clearly isn't if you just join a community server decent enough to have anti cheat enabled or mods not brain dead and even if one cheater does show up so long as the mods ban them fast enough its not gonna really matter.
In truth I sort of wish TF2 would die because that would force the cheaters to find something else to ruin with their lives because its painfully clear that unless valve actually does something for once there is going to be a guy in 2026 going "the hackers are killing TF2! no really this time!".

A cool, aesthetic thing they could do is that if they ever implement a recharge meter for the caber is that the Demoman replaces the original explosives with a pipe from whatever primary he has equipped and tape. No added benefits depending on the primary he has equipped, just something that could explain why the explosive melee is back.
That is an absolutely brilliant idea. The only question is what to do when you've got the booties equiped. I think a landmine would probably be fitting.

If the caber simply recharged over time it would be a really good option.
Not the most utility, but sometimes being able to deal massive melee damage could be amazing.

I tried using it with Iron Bomber and Splendid Screen like you said, and it makes it actually usable. There's a shield to boost it with a mini-crit/crit, and a grenade launcher so you can actually deal ranged damage and grenade jump.
Caber is like Market Gardener. It won't make you top score and relies on crits to be effective but damn when you finally get that hit with it...fun and satisfying.

I would use splendid screen over other shields as it has a reduction in how long it takes for your charge to refill and it's still has crits so you'll have an easier time getting to spawn with it

There are two things this weapon lacks, reason to use it, and consistency. Lets fix that.
New stats:
Explodes on first hit
Recharges after 15 seconds
Deals 50 self-damage on explosion (Slightly down from 52-56)
-15% damage (Hidden passive from live)
20% slower firing speed (Same as live)
This weapon deploys 50% slower (Down from 100%)
Mini-crits instead of random critical hits (Instead of completely disabling random crits)
While these are major buffs... it's still worse than stock bottle usually, but retains that powerful first hit and gets it back every 15s.
Here's the break down:
Base dmg is 130 on explosion/55 otherwise, vs 65 stock.
And a minicrit on busted deals 74, far below stock crit 195. (-61.5 dmg less on average after first hit, based off 30% crit rate)
A minicrit explosion would do slightly less damage than a regular crit on stock. (185 vs 195)
This gives it the one niche that on average, the first hit deals an extra 65 dmg on non-crit but -10 on (mini)crit. (42.5 more dmg on first hit on average)
The biggest perk of this weapon is the ability to 1-shot shield bash crit an over-healed heavy (which is currently in live, but requires going all the way back to spawn to get back) at the cost of 50 hp, a 15 second recharge, 20% slower attackspeed, and -62 less dmg avg subsequently, most notably not being able to 2-hit light classes w/o crit.
Outside shield bash its 130 dmg hits can 1 shot light classes w/o crit, at the cost of 50 hp though, 15s recharge, 20% slower attackspeed, and not being able to 2-hit light classes w/o crit.
So what do you think? Plenty of drawbacks, but its first hit packs a punch. Viable among knights and normal for two different reasons.

This video is probably the most impact any video has had in how I play a game, after I watched this, I started playing Caberknight as a joke and now Demoman is my most played class after I’ve tried many other play styles for Demoman

Caber actually can do up to 127 damage, but you need to stay really close to the enemy
engineer gameing doesn't like demoman all that much due to them destroying his sentries but does enjoy seeing them try to run at sentries with the caber
1:58 the sticky jumper was nerfed, you used to be able to place more than 2 stickies with it
I thought you could have the normal 8 stickies with it
If this had a tad bit more damage and an actual recharge bar.
I'd use this in conjunction with the sticky jumper and the base jumper to be a discount kamikaze pilot
These are the changes I’d give to the Caber:
- When broken, it can recharge by hitting an enemy with it during an explosive jump (Sticky/grenade jumps, excluding ones caused by the caber itself). Guaranteed Crit on hit.
- Can’t crit midair when recharged.
Simple, but I think it’s a good idea to keep the changes it already had, and still make it fun! (Plus it’s a spiced-up market gardener for the Demo!)
