The Shima has a unique characteristic in that I can almost certainly find out if the Shima player on my team is actually a decent player solely based whether they have 17.9k hp or 21.4k or 21.9k.
24:20 this is legit one of my bigfest complaints with modern wows. Old special captains had big requirements but some decently big bonuses in exchange, modern special captains have "play game" > "free buffs"
Shima is my go to dd in ranked, always run the F3s because the smaller team format gives you so much space. Nothing prints dev strikes like it, and with some AR boost you have Halland torp reload. Exactly my build with leg mod and speed boost, I run RPF to really help spotting pressure.
Shima with RPF and F3s is what I do as well. Just devstruck a daring today who was never sighted but RPF showed me the corner of the cap he was contesting in. Took two torps and back to port.
Awesome to get these guides as an old player coming back to the game. Really helpful! So sick of the “guides” by fanboys where every ship is just so amazing no matter how dogshit it actually is.
Scarlet imho is just a worse lion/duncan, essentially you lose the superheal and speed boost/torps/tanking ability for the same or below average guns on a platform with a citadel the size of mars It’s quite a bad ship due to the lack of superheal in my experience
@@matthewyang7893 I have the ship in my first slot, thats what I mean, Id never gamble on any of these stupid ones, but its literally in the first slot for me, ship, commander, flag, some bonus missions and the camo for 1500 dubs
That first match reminds me of when I was able to clutch out a starting 6v1 on Two Brothers since the 6 had lost all the caps to crowd into the 1 line islands... and I was in the Benham while their DD's were all dead since they'd 'foolishly' tried contesting the caps rather than wait in the 1 line fortress for our team to get win more syndrome and suicide one by one.
IMO Shima attracts bad players the most because they can randomly get torp hits from time to time and it's more or less their only way to get kills or damage.
I’m on kagero and man is it therapy when you get that random torpedo hit or salvo on a bb Also being the spotting slave isn’t necessarily bad because you don’t really care at all about all the bb powercreep, since you are their worst nightmare
The only small disagreement I have is with the torp choice for the Shima. In the majority of the situations where u got torp hits in these games u did so within 8km which is where I think the highest probability if getting torp hits is and in these scenarios it is better to run the 8km torps due to the increased speed and lower detectability. I know it is not the popular opinion and that u may disagree, but I prefer the 8km Shima torps for the above mentioned reasons.
But so many Shima players are awful teammates. They'll run flank, they launch torps at Max range, they don't spot, and they won't fire their guns. They play so conservatively and rely on the torps to be their entire game. It gets pretty old in randoms

Like Napoleon once said: We can always regain caps.
A Shima game a day keeps the wows rage away
agree with this, aside from CVs with nonverbal autism who hump you, it's usually a chill experience, win or lose

This guy and G4ngB4r3ng are the ones to watch.
Probably ships you don't have, but I'm curious about the Illinois and the Scarlet Thunder

I have to agree. As a DD Main, the lack of support for your DDs is appalling
Your strategy explanations are very good, best I have seen on youtube. Some good rules of thumb to take away from these videos.
Gearing next?
probably
Interesting video title

looking forward to the halland LM review
Why did you say that picking Jager is griefing your team? I was kinda interested in it but not sure if i should get it.

I rly enjoy 8km torp shima, though yukikaze does the same thing better at t8

As he said, it's easy to play Shima badly.....
Im not a dd player. My best dd is benson. Do i take shima in xmas 🎁? Im guessing no

cmon man i had already changed it when you commented this
All the mods you have on make this video annoying to watch.
