- Original Munro
Beinn an Lochain was an Original Munro on Sir Hugh Munros first list. However it was eventually demoted as its a few feet short of the magical 3000 foot mark to allow it to have Munro status!

Nice film Murray! The Arrochar Alps are great, But i would say the Corbetts are much Better than the Munros up there. Beinn an Lochain and The Brack are great climbs :)
@@onion_wind haha! Aye he's trying to nick my name lol!

Was inspired to do this after your vlog came out and climbed up in early April. Certainly a hill to remember.
Alistair Thow it’s a cracking wee mountain , 👍
Cracking video mate - as usual. Some really cool drone footage as well. I've driven the Rest so many times, but never knew about "the original munro" - thanks for sharing.
Thanks Julian, It a cracking hill and arelatively short day - start high, no walk in and a grand ridge to follow. A few steep bits whic under snow could be a bit technical, but apart from that a grand day out :)

@@ScotlandsMountains well, I'm heading up to Oban at Easter, so maybe I'll bag this one while I'm in the area. Hopefully there won't be as much snow on the hills as last Easter. (I lack the proper mountain skills for a technical walk in the snow unfortunately).
You really have an endless supply of super peaks over there in Scotland, very jealous :-) Beautiful weather again on this one, especially on the descent. Great stuff!
That's a posh looking coffee and bacon roll for Arrochar, where did you get that?
is the finest bacon roll and coffee available in Scotland !! (was at a friends house!)

Mae Hong Son is where I live 😂 I'm a fellow Brit living out here. Check it out on the map. Fantastic trekking country.
Thanks for your uploads. I appreciate the time it takes 👍🏻
Great footage Murray as usual, and a grand illustration of why the 3000' limit is so arbitrary. Some hills under 3000' are mountains, and some mountains over 3000' are hills. Some hills become mountains when the weather rolls in, or when fatigue strikes, or when time is short. Still, you have to start somewhere. I learnt this when, much younger, I 'did' all 214 Wainwright summits in the Lake District. When I finished, I realised that all I'd done was give myself a geographical framework on which to hang my future explorations of the region. But then, to be fair, isn't that what Sir Hugh was doing?
Have a great 2019 Murray. Give us lots more of your wonderful filming and understated commentary, but preferably without too many appearances of the appalling yellow trousers!
Thanks David (well said - have to agree with you here- apart from about the trousers . You'll be glad to hear they have gone away for the winter, but will be making a return as soon as spring arrives !! lol).
