Thank you very much from RUSSIA for the invited guests to your channel !!! MORE THAN content. THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU
Wow this is really interesting. I almost gave up on light painting because of the massive streaks I couldn't remove due to my huge light bar, but this looks like a really cool resource to learn some more technique. Thanks for sharing!
Kirk ... your surname is spot on.
You some how read my mind. This is what I wanted.
Me gusta mucho. Desde Colombia, un abrazo

What happened to their website ?
Great current and relevant information! New Sub here! Drew
Thank you!
There is no automotive light painting.com. ????
Great collaboration. One question for both, do you use a CPL filter when light painting? I know using it outside is a must to help with reflections during the day, but do you find it is needed during controlled lighting?
Thanks for the reply. I guess it all comes down to experimentation. Keep up the great work, and love your site. Great content.
I've been wondering this too! Very good advice.. thanks
Im finding these videos super helpful! I just need to get out into the real world and shoot more. Im not sure if i have just missed it but there is no video on basic camera set up for car photography, like is there a ideal ISO to use or is it best to use a high aperture and should I use a long shutter speed like over 1 second? or is it just a matter of it depends on each shot. I know this is basic to most people but any advice would be great.
I would assuming your settings would differ depending on your location, and time of day. Always have a tripod on hand for multiple shot exposures to start with it would help with keeping your iso low. Theres no reason to go above 100 iso if youre on a tripod. Since the car is the hero here, you want to make sure you capture all its detail. So you would need to have a narrow aperture setting, I'd start around 8, 11 or 16 to begin with. You can always go higher. Shutter speed is determined on all those factors including lighting and even car colour. There are plenty of tutorials around, but overall experiment is the best advice I could give.
What is bretter, yn300 or yn600? Will the 600 output be to strong for painting in the dark, but bretter in more ambient situations?
The site doesnt work anymore.
Yeah unfortunately, I don't think he is running it.
question nothing to do with the video,
if i dont have a tripod with me, is it ideal to under expose to get the sky details and pump up the shadow later in post process?
Doing that you might introduce lot of noise in the shadows. I would try the opposite, expose for shadows or midtones and later bring the highlights down.
Bracket and blend in post, assuming you aren’t shooting with crazy slow shutter speeds that can’t be hand held. Most cameras can do an auto bracket on a self-timer. Brace as best you can then hit the self-timer. Auto align in PS and blend it. No noise. No blown highlights. Even on a tripod I bracket an ambient light exposure without strobes to get the environment.

Tried to join the light painting page but never got an activation email so cant open page .
Hi Allan, did you try your junk/spam folder?
Yes but may have an email issue so cant use my normal email . Just joined with alternate email and worked fine .
Glad you were able to join, welcome to the community :-)
Thanks Moe
I'd love to learn how to strobe but I don't have the money to buy the lighting equipment 😓 maybe one day. Thanks for the video, I'll be sure to check out the website 😁
Edit- oh he's from Brissy! Might have to hit him up for a shoot of my husbands car and pick his brain 😉
Michelle, you don't need expensive equipment. Few weeks ago I've decided to try and paint my car with light. I took my VW Golf and used speedlight, I think it was Yongnuo flash. I didn't know what I was doing so basically photos were crap. But, it was dark enough to use constant light, so I've used my iPhone 7 light and here is the result kontrymphoto.com/works/car-photography.html It's not perfect but it was my first ever attempt and I'm happy with it.
automotivelightpainting.com Will certainly have to, we live up in Mackay and I checked out the website last night, I think it's giving me quite a few good tips. 😁 Thanks
Rafal Kontrym hey it turned out really well. I'm not a pro photographer by any means. Just a car lover with a passion for photography, but you are completely right, I had a quick squizz last night at some lighting equipment and think I might order some within the next few weeks. I also have a speedlite also but I gotta get a remote trigger for it. I have seen video where people do it with the speedlite.
