@foxynewsy badwomen me too! I’m pretty sure I had read before, that she chose to stay in school and graduated and then I think it said she went on to college or took some college courses. It’s been a long time ago that I read that so I can’t quote it just right.
Of course I bought this album. It is really good. Sometimes the best songs in the world are actually not number 1 hits. I tend to love unusual songs that don't resonate with the masses of people in pop culture. This is an amazing song by an amazing singer that didn't perform on the charts like it should have. Thankfully Lila had her big hit 'I Wanna Fall In Love' so she is remembered and people will watch this video and realize what a talent and a cool song her first single was.
I LOVE this song since I am going through a Divorce It's telling the truth a woman can only take so much I took crap from my exhusband for 9years and I finally said enough and left him and ain't looked back
@Billy D. Jacks This guy is out to lunch. He has no idea what Christianity is about. Don't let people like this try to pull you down, Patricia! Best to you on your journey!
Back in the day, my ex came home to find this song blaring on loop. LOL I had found the blackbird and moved the f out. BEST thing I ever did for myself. Cheers!
Here is an update about Lila from herself On June 17, 2019, McCann posted on her official Instagram and Facebook pages that she has happily remarried a woman and is openly gay. Lila, her wife and children live in Nashville with their two dogs. She has started a successful real estate career in Nashville. McCann is actively involved in the LGBTQ community.
So Lila and I are the same age and I used to work concession stands for my Aunt and Uncle as a teenager we followed the fair circuit the year Lila really hit the big time she played our local county fair (Vermillion county Indiana) My Uncle had pretty good connections and he set me up as the guy that had supply her bottles of water on stage before performances I remember they couldn't be cold she wanted them room temperature so it did not affect her voice one of my jobs in the concession stand was cooking the ribeye steak sandwiches and after her last performance my Uncle had told her to come by and get a free sandwich before she went back to her bus I obviously made the sandwich for her and she thanked me for keeping her supplied with water this was right about the time we were closing down so I was actually able to stay there and have a pretty long conversation with her I felt like we really hit it off this was a long time before cell phones were common and with her traveling there would have been no way to keep in touch but I always wondered If she would have kept in touch if we had been able to?! Of course now she is married to another lady so I doubt anything would have come from that but in my teenage years it always made me wonder
I remeber in the late 90s A gal sang this song and I loved it by her so off and on Through The Years up until this very minute I have tried to find her and I thought I'd try one more time and I can't believe after all these years is like 1997 soon as I seen her face i was so happy lol I think she does a marvelous job .
I think this song means . She finally got the courage to leave him . To be happy , to be free of him . So she can find happiness , to have something to live for . Down Came A Blackbird
Nashville simply threw this talented singer away; and they did the same thing to Jessica Andrews. These were two major young talents, but I think the idiots who run Nashville were nervous about 'baby' country stars. One can just imagine a nervous record label executive saying: "Is she old enough for us to sexualize her yet?"
Not too far fetched when looking at most of the female country artists the major labels are signing lately, sadly. Most of them are almost always half naked when on stage and dress like hookers. I miss the 90s when both male and female artists looked much classier and when teenage singers and child stars could still have hits. Can you imagine anyone like Billy Gilman or a 13 year old LeAnn Rimes getting signed in today's environment? Sadly, no.
Ok how can we petition Gaga to do a cover? Just even the idea makes me smile. I know it won't match Lila's, though just would love to see what Gaga could do
Lila was 16 when this video and her album were released. she was the same age give or take a year or two as Leann Rimes. Because Leann had hit the radio and video scene a couple of years before Lila, the music business focused on Leann more so than Lila. their voices were very different so it wasnt that. i think they just focused more on Leann because if their ages and they didnt want to turn country music into a young girls club like pop. whatever the reason, i feel Lila should have gotten a lot more recognition and air time than she got. this song was very popular, but the video had low creative value. they didnt want to spend the money they should have.
I can't remember 3 weeks ago, but I haven't heard this song in many many years and sang every single word.
Me too!!!!
One of the best songs ever recorded. Wish she would have gotten more recognition.
I agree

I remember having a cassette tape with this song when I was like 6. Was my favorite song as a child
When country singers sounded like country singers. Great lyrics.
Yes she dose
this is pop country you would have to go back to the 1960's or before for true country
And besides she wanted to be open about being gay and that was a no no back then in country

I love this song. She needs to get back to singing again! True country!

She gave up singing and is now a real estate agent in Nashville

Hard to believe this song is over 25 years old
NO ONE can cover this, CHER, Mariah Carey, MABYE Lady Gaga, BUT it won't be as epic as it is here
Ok how can we petition Gaga to do a cover? Just even the idea makes me smile. I know it won't match Lila's, though just would love to see what Gaga could do
