I had no idea this existed, so I hunted this thing down and you were right…it’s by far one gorgeous collector set that screams class. I paid a premium, but it was worth it. Thanks to you and your channel I would have never been able to enjoy something like this. I saw this originally on TV as a kid and was awe struck but was hard to fully grasp what was going on. Later on up to now and afterwards reading the book, it’s one those films that grows on you over time…it’s a massive story, I like the remake, I think it was wise to split the story, hopefully, the sequel will be as entertaining as the first. I can only imagine how you felt when you got this edition through the door because I remember exactly how I felt when I seen it for the first time. I don't have an edition quite like this and chances are I don't think I will ever see one like it again. I know it costs a lot of money but it's worth every single penny. That is an incredible edition by Koch films. I was tempted to buy it but I just never really liked the original Dune. But it is a awesome addition to anyones collection. And the price is quite cheap considering what you get with the box. Great purchase Keith.
It could be one of these films when I watch it I could end up hating it. I definitely have seen it but it was in the 80s when I did and I have little to no memory of it. As for the set itself like I said it's probably one of the greatest 4K premium Editions I'll ever own and I'm so happy that I picked it up. The Spicediver cut is a fanedit version - it is really the ultimate version. Spicediver did an amazing job. Btw- I'm not sure if it it is included - but this box set may have the documentary "The Sleeper must awaken" that was left off every other recent Dune release (for legal reasons). Is it on there?

That is one hell of a edition to add to the collection, looks very premium for sure. It would take you weeks to watch all them extras. Hey Gary I find it very strange that they don't deliver to the UK. Will never fully understand the reason behind that. It's a shame because they're one of the best websites I've seen when it comes to premium editions. This is without question one of the best 4K premium Editions I've ever seen or ever likely to own. Looking at the set, the supplements and the presentation of it all in the packaging. This really takes me back to some of the Laserdisc box sets we used to see like T2, Platoon and the Disney classic animation sets. Great video, beautiful box set. Thank you 😊
I honestly never knew that laserdiscs had presentations like that. It's the only format I never collected and I have a couple of friends that still buy them today. Maybe someday I might look into it
@@millerman9991 they can be a dangerous rabbit hole to slip down these days but... the Pioneer special editions and Walt Disney box set have had some You Tubers highlight them over the years. Am sure you can punch in Laserdisc Box sets for some ideas. But Dune is really something cool and feels to me, like a natural descendant of those sets from 20-30 years psst.

What is the Spicediver Cut? From Reddit....So I know that David Lynch’s Dune has a mixed reputation at best, I personally think the theatrical version is just ok. However I was browsing the internet recently and I came upon a fan made recut of the movie and holy cow is it better. Almost 40min of extra footage bringing the runtime up to almost 3 hr gives the movie so much more breathing room than before. The cut uses footage from the extended edition as well as some deleted and alternate scenes that keeps the films characters and tone more in line with the book. It’s also a little more violent which makes some characters deaths a little more satisfying.
Wow I was hoping for someone to leave a comment and let me know what that version is. I have to admit after reading this comment I am very intrigued. Like you said the film doesn't sound near as bloated with this version. I think it's the only one let down to this edition is the fact that we did not get those other cuts in 4k. I'm stuck in a Conundrum now. Do I look at the theatrical in glorious 4k or watch the Spicediver cut. Thanks so much Dave for giving me some much needed information. Will definitely look into it

If you download Google Lens to your phone you can just point your phone at all the writing and it will translate it for you. Can then just either read it on the screen or take a pic of the translation and read it easier that way. Same goes for all your other media books.

@@millerman9991 absolutely. I use it a lot myself. When you open Google Lens it's similar to a normal camera app. It gives you options to Googje search the item you are looking at or option on the left says Translate. Just select that option. It usually auto detects the language you are looking at.

Hi Keith, In my experience with German released transfers, Koch Media & Explosive Media are superb, WOW a bumper edition indeed, high quality book of movie stills, its nice when something is in english, I"ve said it few times that i feel Germany do the best movie editions more so than the U.S & the UK, special treatment releases as always, no doubt this release for "Dune" will look superb, thanks for sharing.

That is a beauty mate ! I've never seen this edition but I've just ordered the deluxe steelbook edition from cex , never had any stock ever and 2 came in today only £40. Always a risk with cex but the store is near my work so easy to return.
To be honest Ian I was very lucky to come across this edition myself before it sold out. It has everything you could possibly want when it comes to the movie Dune and great to hear that you picked up that Steelbook. CEX can be so handy sometimes. Hopefully everything will be okay with it

As for cex , Normally you're just buying other folks damaged Steel-books, but as they're basically 5 minutes from my returns are simple. I have hit the jackpot a few times tho. Got my brightburn 4k steelbook from them and it's my favourite in my collection, artwork is stunning mate.

I have to admit there doesn't seem to be much love for the original movie. Again I can't really comment myself because it's probably the 80s the last time I seen this movie. Yeah Glenn I just found out recently that they won't ship to England which is very strange. But I've also heard theres supposedly ways of getting around it. Not quite sure what they are but apparently you can get around them

Beautiful. I personally like this film. HATED the new one. I guess if you like Star Wars. I have 2 copies on order. 1 I did on a group buy and paid for like 9 months ago. It got pushed back several times. I did not think they were going to come thru so I was prepared to do a bank dispute. But it it is on it's way to US now with 4 or 5 other things I ordered. Not being I asked a company here in the states to special order. I can sell the other copy. Koch does not ship to US. Very few German companies do. Amazon of course does, Turbine and JPC Media. I think that is all that does.
I only just found out that not only does Koch Films not send to the US but they won't even send to England either. It's a shame because they do bring out some incredible releases. I'm sure there is ways of getting around it unfortunately it will cost a bit of money. But when you look at what you're getting I think it's worth paying the extra bit of money. Trust me when I say you're going to love this release when you do get it and I hope you have no trouble selling the second one which I doubt you will

Another really nice box set Keith👍 i have the Arrow special edition box set with the books and postcards and a different mini poster to those and the steelbook 👍 think i prefer the Arrow releases books to this one in your media book set here the arrow books have the original sketches in as well as photographs so might be worth a double dip to get the alternate books if you can grab it for cheap 👍 i do however like the additional content discs you get with this set I'm seriously considering a double dip myself 🤣🤣👍

Like I said in the video I seen it years ago but I honestly cannot remember it. I didn't realise there were so many cuts to this film. What is it with 80s sci-fi movies and all the directors cuts. After seeing the remake of Dune that really got me going for the original and I'm looking forward to seeing it again.
@@millerman9991 I'm a huge fan of both David Lynch and shiny boxsets (the "Z to A" Twin Peaks edition is one of my all time favourites) but this is the one movie of his that I can do without. I got the bog standard Arrow Video 4K recently purely for the sake of completion!

Apparently there is a 3 hour cut of the film in this edition. Apparently it doesn't feel nearly as bloated as the theatrical and apparently a lot of the characters get a bit more airtime so to speak. The only problem is the theatrical edition is the only version on 4k and the rest are Blu-ray. So I'm left with a decision. Either watch the theatrical in glorious 4k or watch the 3-hour cut on Blu-ray. Decisions decisions

Great video Keith and a stunning set, koch media and the likes of turbine media are killing it with special editions and are always way more thought out and priced. I’ve spent some this past few weeks and have a couple of my sort after grails coming in hopefully tomorrow or Friday, both at stupid prices compared to the asking prices by scalpers. One of them is a stunning German release from years gone by I’ve wanted for the longest time having missed it on release and I was never paying £350 as there is only one on eBay!! Until the one I saw came on and I brought it in an instant for less than 25% of £350 😂 hope your well Keith and keep your eye on my Instagram at what I picked up 👍🏻

Well my 4k steelbook collector edition arrived in mint condition. BUT ! it has a faulty 4k disc ! Turns out arrow sent faulty discs in my edition ( probably why the previous owner took it to cex!) I've emailed arrow but doubt they will help me with a 2nd hand set. Ps , seen dune 2 at cinema mate, it is EPIC!

I was only made aware of them myself in the last month or two but like I said in the video I never thought to go onto the website directly. They really do some amazing work on there releases. Even their Steelbooks look incredible. As far as I'm aware I think the set is region B locked but the 4K disc as you know is region free. Hey Kenny it is the 84 movie. I seen the remake a couple of weeks back and I thought it was fantastic and I kind of got my juices flowing to see the original again even though I honestly cannot remember it. I've heard very mixed things about it but I'm hoping to get some sort of enjoyment from it. It is without question the greatest premium edition that I ever bought and that's saying a lot when you consider my collection. It's just a shame we can't get releases like this over here in Ireland. When I searched for Dune on Amazon, this item came up and I thought it was 'Dune' perfume or something so I ordered the 4K Limited Edition version instead. What a mistake!
I must check and see if there's a bottle of perfume inside it 😆. This is definitely one of the best 4K premium Editions I've ever seen and I'm so lucky to have it in my collection. I still haven't seen the film yet and I've heard mixed things about it. Fingers crossed I will enjoy it
beautiful edition. this are the releases where i fight wich myself, since i limit myself to only buy editions of movies i actually like. but this one is just nice to look at and have in the shelf, not because of the movie itself. btw. its pronounced: ko-ck (but the „ck“ being the ugly „ch“ noise one does by pressing your tongue to the back of the mouth, like collecting saliva for a good spit ;) films like films hope i could help :)

We always get the crap products here in the UK overseas always get cooler stuff than we do it's why I own region free players too as when US get a better set I ent restricted by that region code rubbish

I think it worked out at €120 including postage. So I think the postage was €18. But I have to admit Simon when you see how secure this set was when it came to packaging I honestly think €18 is a great price

An absolute crap movie - well its not even a complete movie, it is a third of a movie. Average acting and over reliance upon big set piece battle scenes. Appalling compared to the original!
Dune by David L. was, and still is,an awful film. Lynch was in the film only for the money,. Dino di Laurentiis, who was the producer, was who really called the shots. I only saw this film once and I don't have any intention to see it twice. There's a great video about Alejandro Jodorowsky's Dune Vision on UA-cam. But, as anybody knows, Jodorowsky's Dune was never made. That was a pity. Jodorowsky's "craziness" was perfect for this project. // Stay Safe and Greetings from Spain 🚩🚩🚩

It’s been almost a year, and I wanted to thank you for this detailed review. I had no idea this existed, so I hunted this thing down and you were right…it’s by far one gorgeous collector set that screams class. I paid a premium, but it was worth it. Thanks to you and your channel I would have never been able to enjoy something like this. I saw this originally on TV as a kid and was awe struck but was hard to fully grasp what was going on. Later on up to now and afterwards reading the book, it’s one those films that grows on you over time…it’s a massive story, I like the remake, I think it was wise to split the story, hopefully, the sequel will be as entertaining as the first. That is an incredible edition by Koch films. I was tempted to buy it but I just never really liked the original Dune. But it is a awesome addition to anyones collection. And the price is quite cheap considering what you get with the box. Great purchase Keith.
It could be one of these films when I watch it I could end up hating it. I definitely have seen it but it was in the 80s when I did and I have little to no memory of it. As for the set itself like I said it's probably one of the greatest 4K premium Editions I'll ever own and I'm so happy that I picked it up. The Spicediver cut is a fanedit version - it is really the ultimate version. Spicediver did an amazing job. Btw- I'm not sure if it it is included - but this box set may have the documentary "The Sleeper must awaken" that was left off every other recent Dune release (for legal reasons). Is it on there?

Looking at the set, the supplements and the presentation of it all in the packaging. This really takes me back to some of the Laserdisc box sets we used to see like T2, Platoon and the Disney classic animation sets. Great video, beautiful box set. Thank you 😊
I honestly never knew that laserdiscs had presentations like that. It's the only format I never collected and I have a couple of friends that still buy them today. Maybe someday I might look into it
@@millerman9991 they can be a dangerous rabbit hole to slip down these days but... the Pioneer special editions and Walt Disney box set have had some You Tubers highlight them over the years. Am sure you can punch in Laserdisc Box sets for some ideas. But Dune is really something cool and feels to me, like a natural descendant of those sets from 20-30 years psst.

What is the Spicediver Cut? From Reddit....So I know that David Lynch’s Dune has a mixed reputation at best, I personally think the theatrical version is just ok. However I was browsing the internet recently and I came upon a fan made recut of the movie and holy cow is it better. Almost 40min of extra footage bringing the runtime up to almost 3 hr gives the movie so much more breathing room than before. The cut uses footage from the extended edition as well as some deleted and alternate scenes that keeps the films characters and tone more in line with the book. It’s also a little more violent which makes some characters deaths a little more satisfying.
Wow I was hoping for someone to leave a comment and let me know what that version is. I have to admit after reading this comment I am very intrigued. Like you said the film doesn't sound near as bloated with this version. I think it's the only one let down to this edition is the fact that we did not get those other cuts in 4k. I'm stuck in a Conundrum now. Do I look at the theatrical in glorious 4k or watch the Spicediver cut. Thanks so much Dave for giving me some much needed information. Will definitely look into it

If you download Google Lens to your phone you can just point your phone at all the writing and it will translate it for you. Can then just either read it on the screen or take a pic of the translation and read it easier that way. Same goes for all your other media books.

@@millerman9991 absolutely. I use it a lot myself. When you open Google Lens it's similar to a normal camera app. It gives you options to Googje search the item you are looking at or option on the left says Translate. Just select that option. It usually auto detects the language you are looking at.

In my experience with German released transfers, Koch Media & Explosive Media are superb, WOW a bumper edition indeed, high quality book of movie stills, its nice when something is in english, I"ve said it few times that i feel Germany do the best movie editions more so than the U.S & the UK, special treatment releases as always, no doubt this release for "Dune" will look superb, thanks for sharing.
Hey Carlos I've said this numerous times to people that I can only imagine how poor my collection would look if I didn't have Germany in my life when it comes to physical Media. I honestly think they are kings and some of the effort that they put into releases are the best out there. Weather it's editions just like this one or Blu-ray busts, steelbooks you name it. Spicediver edition is the most close version to the film David Lynch intented to do.

That is a beauty mate ! I've never seen this edition but I've just ordered the deluxe steelbook edition from cex , never had any stock ever and 2 came in today only £40. Always a risk with cex but the store is near my work so easy to return.
To be honest Ian I was very lucky to come across this edition myself before it sold out. It has everything you could possibly want when it comes to the movie Dune and great to hear that you picked up that Steelbook. CEX can be so handy sometimes. Hopefully everything will be okay with it

As for cex , Normally you're just buying other folks damaged Steel-books, but as they're basically 5 minutes from my returns are simple. I have hit the jackpot a few times tho. Got my brightburn 4k steelbook from them and it's my favourite in my collection, artwork is stunning mate.
@iansteventon4221 I heard Dune 2 is supposed to be absolutely phenomenal. I'm hoping to go to it sometime in the next week or two myself. I just waiting for things to die down a little. I have 2 copies on order. 1 I did on a group buy and paid for like 9 months ago. It got pushed back several times. I did not think they were going to come thru so I was prepared to do a bank dispute. But it it is on it's way to US now with 4 or 5 other things I ordered.
Not being I asked a company here in the states to special order.
I can sell the other copy.
Koch does not ship to US. Very few German companies do. Amazon of course does, Turbine and JPC Media. I think that is all that does.
I only just found out that not only does Koch Films not send to the US but they won't even send to England either. It's a shame because they do bring out some incredible releases. I'm sure there is ways of getting around it unfortunately it will cost a bit of money. But when you look at what you're getting I think it's worth paying the extra bit of money. Trust me when I say you're going to love this release when you do get it and I hope you have no trouble selling the second one which I doubt you will

Another really nice box set Keith👍 i have the Arrow special edition box set with the books and postcards and a different mini poster to those and the steelbook 👍 think i prefer the Arrow releases books to this one in your media book set here the arrow books have the original sketches in as well as photographs so might be worth a double dip to get the alternate books if you can grab it for cheap 👍
i do however like the additional content discs you get with this set I'm seriously considering a double dip myself 🤣🤣👍
Hey Martin I've been just informed about this released by another UA-camr. I'm very intrigued because I just assumed it was your typical arrow release. I had no idea that it came with a Steelbook. Like I said in the video I seen it years ago but I honestly cannot remember it. I didn't realise there were so many cuts to this film. What is it with 80s sci-fi movies and all the directors cuts. After seeing the remake of Dune that really got me going for the original and I'm looking forward to seeing it again.
@@millerman9991 I'm a huge fan of both David Lynch and shiny boxsets (the "Z to A" Twin Peaks edition is one of my all time favourites) but this is the one movie of his that I can do without. I got the bog standard Arrow Video 4K recently purely for the sake of completion!
I'm hoping to pick up that Twin Peaks edition someday. I've never seen a single episode but I know it's something that I will enjoy. So don't be one bit surprised if you see unboxing of that someday

I did indeed see it. As a matter of fact I bought it last week. I actually have a 3D television in the house and I'm looking forward to watching it again in 3D. It will be great to compare the 4K and the 3D

It's funny you just said that John because now I'm starting to think that maybe I should hold off watching it until I see the second part of the remake. Apparently there is a 3 hour cut of the film in this edition. Apparently it doesn't feel nearly as bloated as the theatrical and apparently a lot of the characters get a bit more airtime so to speak. The only problem is the theatrical edition is the only version on 4k and the rest are Blu-ray. So I'm left with a decision. Either watch the theatrical in glorious 4k or watch the 3-hour cut on Blu-ray. Decisions decisions

Yes the film itself seems to have gotten a mixed reception. Like I said in the video I have not seen it in years. Probably back in the 80s and I cannot remember a thing about it. I'm hoping that I can push the remake to aside and appreciate what we get with this version. The set itself is extraordinary and I'm so lucky to have it in my collection. @@millerman9991 I'd read a bit about it but it was delayed so long I got the arrow in case it didn't come out, I know they had problems sourcing makers for the perspex box which is why it took so long
I honestly did not know there was a delay on this release. Having said that I only just discovered it a couple of weeks ago. It's nice when that happens

Great video Keith and a stunning set, koch media and the likes of turbine media are killing it with special editions and are always way more thought out and priced. I’ve spent some this past few weeks and have a couple of my sort after grails coming in hopefully tomorrow or Friday, both at stupid prices compared to the asking prices by scalpers. One of them is a stunning German release from years gone by I’ve wanted for the longest time having missed it on release and I was never paying £350 as there is only one on eBay!! Until the one I saw came on and I brought it in an instant for less than 25% of £350 😂 hope your well Keith and keep your eye on my Instagram at what I picked up 👍🏻

Luck of the gods I’ve had this week as got both for fantastic prices and both on eBay which shocked me. Both should be here either tomorrow or Friday all being well.
Well my 4k steelbook collector edition arrived in mint condition. BUT ! it has a faulty 4k disc ! Turns out arrow sent faulty discs in my edition ( probably why the previous owner took it to cex!) I've emailed arrow but doubt they will help me with a 2nd hand set. Ps , seen dune 2 at cinema mate, it is EPIC!

I was only made aware of them myself in the last month or two but like I said in the video I never thought to go onto the website directly. They really do some amazing work on there releases. Even their Steelbooks look incredible. As far as I'm aware I think the set is region B locked but the 4K disc as you know is region free. Hey Kenny it is the 84 movie. I seen the remake a couple of weeks back and I thought it was fantastic and I kind of got my juices flowing to see the original again even though I honestly cannot remember it. I've heard very mixed things about it but I'm hoping to get some sort of enjoyment from it. It is without question the greatest premium edition that I ever bought and that's saying a lot when you consider my collection. It's just a shame we can't get releases like this over here in Ireland. When I searched for Dune on Amazon, this item came up and I thought it was 'Dune' perfume or something so I ordered the 4K Limited Edition version instead. What a mistake!
I must check and see if there's a bottle of perfume inside it 😆. This is definitely one of the best 4K premium Editions I've ever seen and I'm so lucky to have it in my collection. I still haven't seen the film yet and I've heard mixed things about it. Fingers crossed I will enjoy it

beautiful edition. this are the releases where i fight wich myself, since i limit myself to only buy editions of movies i actually like. but this one is just nice to look at and have in the shelf, not because of the movie itself.
btw. its pronounced: ko-ck (but the „ck“ being the ugly „ch“ noise one does by pressing your tongue to the back of the mouth, like collecting saliva for a good spit ;) films like films

An absolute crap movie - well its not even a complete movie, it is a third of a movie. Average acting and over reliance upon big set piece battle scenes. Appalling compared to the original!

Dune by David L. was, and still is,an awful film. Lynch was in the film only for the money,. Dino di Laurentiis, who was the producer, was who really called the shots. I only saw this film once and I don't have any intention to see it twice. There's a great video about Alejandro Jodorowsky's Dune Vision on UA-cam.
