Bathroom Renovation #2 - The Tricky Bit
Вставка

- Sponsored by Abacus bathrooms, Part 2 of our bathroom renovation series and it's time to pull up the floor boards and see what lurks beneath for Roger to tackle.
To be honest, Roger has been doing this for so many years, there aren't any plumbing or building problems he's afraid of.

My uncle was a plumber and he had a great way of explaining things every time we spoke I learned something!! Don’t know if it’s the same with all plumbers but you remind me of him !! Keep the videos coming 👍👍
1 in a million plumber. Top man.
Wish there were more like him
So suprised to find your channel! It's such a nice change to see correctly lit shots, a tradesman that is comfortable in front of a camera and a tradesman that isn't afraid to show when things don't go as expected.
I just wanted to thank you for taking time out of your own working day to do these walk throughs. 👍👍 from me.
Roger Bisby a complete joy to watch and to learn.
Another brilliant video from both sides of the camera
Loved every minute of it great work well done

@@GingerDust69 Will do. Have a gander at my channel too👍🏻
What a guy. His knowledge and attention to detail is exactly what you want in a tradesman yet is increasingly rare these days.

Never gone through a pipe under the floor boards but I was on a job once where I was removing the floorboards , some of which had been nailed in place. Pulled one of the nailed ones up and set off a bloody monsoon! Seemed that the pipe was fine with the nail through it, it was only when I removed it that it turned pear shaped. Not much you can do to plan for that kind of idiocy! As always, good series Roger. Good to see you take the time to see the job done right. Yeh, time is money but taking pride in your work is right up there.

Our instructor is the world's most conscientious plumber, and a superb communicator. What a pleasure, it was, to watch and listen. I only wish I knew his name.
Roger Bisby
I learn something new with every one of your videos!!! Also never seen a plumber take the time to check the inside of a pipe before. I wish everyone was as meticulous as you!!! 😁
Great video, I wish I had you doing my plumbing work in Ireland
U don’t catch many plumbers worrying about square cuts! You’ll be using a broom and making your own tea next!
good to see though. i'm not a plumber but always pedantic about square cuts the more DIY i did
Love these videos. Hopefully fitting my own wet room soon so have loads of tips so far
Thanks for sharing your expertise.

i wonder whos winning the race in my toilet between the water and the "Grey Friar Bobbies", hopefully it's in tandem.
From your videos I am able to tackle and sometimes correct work that was supposed to be completed by trademen. As usual, quality video.
All the best
This guy is awesome.
Does it matter which way round you have the expansion coupling? My guess is the solvent weld end should be downstream.
You are right it should be and right now I can't think why I did it that way.
Top skill trade man, really enjoy it and learn a lot.
1st ! What lurks under the floorboards? All the detritus left by previous trades! I've just finished genetically cloning the first batch of Robin Clevetts and they are ready to go on-site. Just need to buy them a Festool TS55 each!
I've just finished pulling down my ceiling in my kitchen/ dining area in my 1953 ex council house so you can imagine the horrors that greeted my face when I pulled down the plaster board!
@R-77 Quite easily. Will your Robert Dyas £9.99 Jigsaw (probably includes 50 blades) be able to stand up to a professional contractor grade German Jigsaw? Does it matter where they are made?
The Germans tooled up to make quality for quality trades people. Quality costs money. You get what you pay for. Quality tools equal productivity which in turn makes money. You must know that? There are plenty of pony tools out there for you (from the far East) if that's your budget.
Find me something better and cheaper and I'll happily switch.
@@jamescoupland667 A lot more than you expected I bet!
you are the best nicely explained 10\10 well done.
Another brilliant video, always enjoy them. One (hopefully sensible) question, but when you were first fitting the expansion coupling, you were worried about the gap at the bottom, so you used that chamfer tool. Later on you said that the joint is designed to move with expansion. So am I right thinking that it's OK to have the gap if it's only temporary because it's expanding? Cheers again and keep 'em coming!
That very thought occurred to me. It is a contradiction and in truth I am in two minds about it so maybe a few more plumbers will chip in. Leaving the gap creates a trap and as the pipe is carrying mostly cold it would be better to shunt it up tight.
@@SkillBuilder Cheers for responding, hopefully another proper plumber like yourself will comment.
Hi Roger, would you trust push fit connectors onto copper pipe for a bathroom under the floor boards or would you recommend end feed as the permanent solution? Thanks.
5:28 bet our Roger has done plenty of that in his time 🤣
Now you see, if it wss me, when you turned the hot tap,to see if that was the pipe you cut, if id of done that the whole pipe full of water held under vaccum by the closed tap would of emptied out onto that grand piano...but not Rog...he is truly blessed! Haha
I hadn't cut the pipe at that point I was still on the trail.
Really good video
Enjoyed it very much

I want to tile my bathroom floor and I’ve got floorboards,,how do I go about it buddy
Strewth - you'd have to drop a pretty good steamer to expand the pipe that far from the source :) haha

Fantastic, super helpful video. Thinking of retraining as a plumber, is there a college/course that you would recommend? Thanks
Try to get out with someone for a while so you can see if you really like it. You can learn a lot from college and UA-cam but working with someone is essential to see if it your thing.
My son hAs bought a Victorian house that needs complete renovation in Crystal Palace. Can you help him.
So glad I became a Plasterer not a Plumber (Too many Mind-Bombs hiding away) though one of my Grandsons is in his 2nd year at colledge as an apprentice Plumber (He loves it :-)

Can you tell me what the depth of water seal is on the traps on element shower tray formers?
They are elongated so they have better than the 76mm equivalent. There is no problem connecting them to a stack because you can't induce a seal loss.
@@SkillBuilder hi, thanks for the reply. Do you mean the trap is elongated or the channel drain is elongated? Thanks for the reply
Hi Roger, great show. Where did you get the 110mm chamfering tool??

That v tuf vacumn is not the wet and dry version😱
@3:00 FLOOR MAN needed X-RAY EYES. Actually, that's not science fiction, any more.
Anyone now where you get the 110mm plastic deburer !

Hot water through a 4 inch waste off a toilet 😂😂
Yes two basins fed into that 4 inch pipe with an air admittance valve at the top of the run. But I agree it was more a general point and probably not worth making in this instance. The most expansion comes from external pipe runs on a hot day.
