Wow truly breath taking work! Is that a Vicmark lathe you are using? Not only beautiful, but very eco-friendly because you don't waste wood like turning a solid piece does!
@@EliasKlingvall I like the idea of a disk attached to the lathe. I think my lathe can support up to 12.5 inches diameter. That is a good idea. obviously not as nice as a $2000 drum sander but it workable
Good job on the video production. With such a large diameter base, you might consider a “Floating base” - much safer, addresses potential wood movement problems.

A Lot of work, takes time to do these segmented bowls. You also got to know what you are doing. " THANKS "
Beautiful work.
Thank you Tom!!
Beautiful!
Thank you!!
Would make a cool light fixture too.
I love watching this. However how would someone attempt to build this if they did not have a nice wide belt sander like you and others have?
You could make a sanding disk for your lathe or put a sheet of sandingpaper on a flat surface and do it by hand same result it just takes longer

Thank you!! I’m not sure what you mean with a floating base?

Is the finish wax or oil?
It’s Yorkshire Grit and Danish Oil
How thick were the sides of the finished bowl?
It’s 7mm at the top and gets slightly thicker towards the bottom
