Mad skillz! Cutting into end-grain and plastic. Wow! Just wow! Stunning piece and 14 some-odd minutes of pure enjoyment. Thank you so much for taking time and effort to make video and share it with us!
Why is it that I always find myself literally physically wanting to burst into a spontaneous round of applause at the end of each & every one of your videos...simply amazing work, good sir! Kudos!
This project must get some attention Modern Makers. It is the best way the section of plywood has been used. Others have done it too but there is something about this work which makes it higher than the others. I feel one is the idea of turning it. And second the red added in the middle is doing complete justice to the feel of the piece. Well shot well thought. Andy. Much respects.
You keep amazing me with your attention to details. When you were sanding it towards the end, it didn't look like it was turning. Not only beautiful, but an ingenious way of putting it together.
You’ve given me sooooo many ideas of things to try! I’ve been binging on maker videos over the holidays and I can’t wait to get home to try a few things! Thanks for all of your postings! I’m sure my family and friends will be amazed if I’m anywhere near something you’d make!
Nice job Andy. Make yourself a circle cutting jig for your bandsaw. It saves a lot of time and it’s more accurate. I turn a lot of ply and laminated work. It’s invaluable.
Recently fallen into yours and a few other wood turning creators’ content and it makes me want to create with my hands! I don’t have the space to have a lathe (or the mess it produces atm) so thinking of starting off with some whittling? I’ll keep watching until I can build my own little hideaway to have a go at turning! Keep doing your thing my friend, it’s so calming and impressive to watch.
The vase looks heavy and substantial, and yet it seems to have a delicate woven look too, like bamboo. Your work is very creative and fresh, sir, just awesome. Thank you for sharing.
You know you're worthy of respect when people don't claim "they could do this" or beg to know all your secrets, or where to get the equipment. Thanks, Andy.
I've been posting 'work in progress' pictures and footage on Instagram if anyone's interested instagram.com/andyphillip67/ Thanks for watching and supporting my channel ....
Andy- Now you should try obtaining some of the Birch Laminate used for Gun Stocks and and turn the Laminate Grain to the long axis and see what you can create from that material. It would be interesting to see what you could get from that material because the more you sand and carve/turn, the more aggressive the grain design becomes. That would be very cool. Keep up the great work!
Wow very nice and I am really surprised your hand work bro .It is excellent and you are very intelligent guy please carry on your work and thanks for shearing this video
Andy, very nice turning vase. I never thought about using colored plastic as piece to give separation and interest. I always burned a circle divider into my pieces. I will have to try your colored plastic method the next time I turned a segmented vase or bowl. Best regards, Richard
Good work Andy as always, now I just have to convince the boss the ever growing mountain of ply,can be used for other purposes, rather than just clogging up the corner of the workshop.
Another truly unique project. Did you begin with a birch or maple plywood? Being a newbie to woodturning, I'm fascinated by your process and simplicity, and thought (in general) that the look of plywood provides a unique finish. Which plywood do you find easiest to turn?
First off, awesome vase! To answer Paul's question, I have found to that Maple and Birch turns the same. I believe it is the glue in the plywood that makes it harder to turn. Tools heat up and dull fast. But the result as seen in this video are well worth the trouble.
It just goes to show, even the wood that should be firewood ends up looking a million bucks after Andy has done his magic with it!
Amazing designs and talent. Thank you for not spoiling it with music or talking.
I’m curious to know what this wonderful artists voice sounds like. Just wondering. Same goes for his looks. I just keep wondering.

I love all the lines the plywood gives you with the occasional red one to enhance the whole thing. It’s kind of mesmerizing.

Thanks so much Yashika ..

Absolutely exquisite vase and a brilliantly edited video. A joy to watch, many thanks.
