Camshafts centerlines degreed at 106/112.
Cobra Jet became a restriction to these camshafts. We will install an intake manifold designed for these cams and retest. We will show results on the next video.
Once retired I plan to build a cammed 9k rpm screamer. I’ll build the chassis and rest just to go around the motor.
Never thought a ported CJ would be a restriction on a NA car. Wonder how well one of the modded ones would work, when it's cut apart and a 1" spacer gets added?

@@Baby-vk7lxMost people running the gen 3 manifold or boss 302 manifold are doing it because they don't want to spend the extra money for the CJ setup. $2K for the CJ manifold, throttle body, and intake is tough to swallow for some people when it doesn't make a lot more power over the cheaper options for a stock cam engine. Most people would rather put that money towards a Supercharger or Turbo setup.
I say this as someone who has a ported CJ and SCJ monoblade throttle body(see avatar)

That many miles on the original engine, i wonder if you've opened up the bottom end to check bearings. Sounds insane tho, those motors are amazing machines
There is a guy in the 11-14 coyote facebook group with 320000 miles on his coyote and he still drives it everyday haha these motors are bulletproof. Just proper maintenance 👌

Wow that’s insane!! Definitely interested in the power difference compared to stock cams. How much of a difference was it with the cobra jet mani?
We picked up 65rwhp and lost 20 ftlbs. It definitely can make more, but the cobra jet manifold became a restriction to the cam. On MHS website, these cams need an intake manifold with plenty of plenum volume like the Frankenstein Predator or MMR Composite Manifold for example to get the fullest potential out of them. Also getting the MHS Stage 3 Competition CNC Porting Package will really wake the combination up.
As soon as we get on the intake manifold to support these cams, we will post the graphs and comparison in the next video.
The cams to use the fullest out of the Cobra Jet Manifold would be the MHS NAR Camshafts, a step down from the MHS NAX.

@@midnight347 We always recommend camshafts that require valve springs and TiVCT lockouts.
NSR Cams and Limited TiVCT Cams (Like the Comp Cams Stage 2 or Stage 3) that most shops likes to recommend, we saw very little gains and very difficult to explain why all the money they spent and they barely gained 10-15hp at the top end. They're easy to calibrate, but the gains are not there for the money spent in our opinion. They also do not use the Cobra Jet Intake manifold to the fullest potential from what we observed in our testing in the past.

These cams are locked at their centerlines. They are adjustable by the adjustable phaser lockouts, but the valve covers and timing cover must come off to re-degree the camshafts to a different centerline
The car is currently equipped with 3.31 rear gears and 4th gear topped out at 155mph. 3.73 or 4.10s would definitely wake up the bottom end with torque multiplication. That will be decided when we get a new intake manifold on there.
We definitely love the lope, even with the MBRP street series cat back silencing most of it.

Yes, Camshafts, VCT Lockouts and Valve springs are the only change. We are aware of the risk of the stock bottom end and have a built spare engine ready to go
My coyote smokes the exact same, Im straight pipe lth and full bolt on, any Idea on what that smoke is? Mine smokes the exact same, someone have any Idea at all??
Our case ended up being the valve guides themselves on the cylinder heads, resulting on requiring a full rebuild on the cylinder head.

@@shotemup123 Gotcha. Your 02 is mt right? Also, thats mainly the reason I wanna donate coyote swap. More tuning potential. Either that or a hemi, because I have a 5.7 thats getting swapped soon so Id have a spare engine just laying around. Too many hemi’s lol that is the 2nd reason I want to do a coyote swab since it’s something different.
@@devontaykarter6648 manual transmission you mean? It uses a stock tr3650 from the mustang so yes its a 5 speed stick car for now
How’s the drivability with these cams?
If tuned correctly and has 3.73 gears or steeper, Drivability is decent. We're driving the car everyday to work and back home.

@domenicodaniel4397 We do not recommend comp cams of any kind. The power gains are very disappointing for the amount of money they cost. 3.31 are okay but you won't have low end torque.

My dad's 2014 has 200,000 on it, I wonder if it would be safe to mod, needs transmission work though

N/A Modifications, go for it. Boosted applications, rebuild it.
All depends on maintenance...there's guys that boost ohv 5.0s and coyote 5.0s with high mileage but they do maintenance on time, never underestimate the power of regular oil changes
