    I admire people who are brave enough to sue lawyers. They have to be kept honest and know they can't get away with whatever they want.

      You know, those bottom-tier attorneys that practice out of their bedrooms don’t have any support staff, so they often tend to be less than precise about billing. Frequently, you don’t even have to go to court to get your money back when your attorney fails to deliver; instead, file a complaint with a local bar association…and you’d be shocked as to how quickly your attorney, suddenly, would get in touch with you!

    • @ct6410
      @ct6410 2 роки тому

      @@nondescriptnyc Yeah, the first part of what you said is a generalization that is not true. Attorneys with staff are just as likely to have fucked up billing as those who practice independently and practicing independently does not at ALL make one a “bottom-tier attorney.” But, again, y’all have to make up whatever you can to feel better that y’all will never be on our level.

    • @nondescriptnyc
      @nondescriptnyc 2 роки тому +1

      @@ct6410 You may have overanalyzed what I said, primarily because you couldn’t see my comment clearly with that HUGE chip on your shoulder. I literally meant practicing out of their bedrooms-and that was not meant to be figurative to refer to all attorneys in (independent) private practice. Usually, these bedroom attorneys attended bottom-tier law schools, barely passed the bar, and they lack the basic professional skills, so all they can handle are real estate transactions and personal injury cases. There are plenty of attorneys in private practice that are successful, both professionally and financially. But, usually, there is a reason when attorneys practice out of their bedrooms w/o support staff. They simply aren’t good at what they do. [Also, when larger firms mess up billing, it is usually not a result of poor bookkeeping but, instead, questionable billing practice.]

      @@foreverever9001 Well, it would matter to me because if the attorney has a random , unknown item decorating his office which represents him and will give me a first impression, I'm apprehensive. If he can LIE so casually and nonchalantly about it, as he does in the video, I'm very apprehensive. It makes me wonder if he would LIE so casually while representing me. Being a person raised in a family were I was taught to tell the truth and that LYING is wrong because it's dishonest so don't do it, that is definitely not a person I would want to be associated with or, for that matter, have anything to do with and I definitely would not want that person to represent me in a court of law which is a venue where you don't want your attorney to LIE, but to be truthful. That is why this MATTERS.

Lawyers do play phone tag with one another and it’s believable that the people the defendant was contacting weren’t being responsive and the defendant wasn’t following up as diligently as he should. It doesn’t shock me that the defendant wasn’t keeping the plaintiff in the loop because lawyers aren’t trained to manage their practice properly. That’s why having a support staff is so important.

Third being lawyer is a tough job and there are lot of pieces involved in each case. You’re always working on something even that will help your client even if the client doesn’t see it as significant. Most lawyers aren’t just sitting on your retainers doing nothing. If you have an issue with a lawyer I suggest you take it up with them directly instead of trashing everyone who works in the profession.

Often the two lawyers are waiting each other out seeing who wants to settle first, it is part of the normal negotiation that is a law suite. I know of two people who we're involved in law suites and Canada and they waited over a year for a settlement. Also a client who represents himself has a fool for a lawyer.

In my opinion, the defendant did just lead the Plaintiff on, did nothing, refused adequate communication, even if it was from a legal secretary, a paralegal, or receptionist…I don’t think it would have mattered to the plaintiff, as long as he saw forward movement and that his money was going torwards something productive re: his complaint; however, the attorney wanted to keep the retainer, and not do shit. He would be better off surrendering his license to practice law and just settle down early at his local retirement home 🤦‍♀️.
