Options are great, both really good phones. Note 8 for me, but the iPhone is also an excellent choice. Let's all get along and love our devices instead of bashing each other for personal choices.
I upgraded from iPhone 7 Plus to a Note 8. This last few years I’ve learnt to not become too invested in either ecosystem. I use WhatsApp, Spotify, Netflix and amazon prime which I can use on either. The note felt better value to me and I’m getting a lot of use out of the pen with drawing and photo apps. 8 plus is too samey and X seems shockingly overpriced and frankly underwhelming. I have iPad tablet though because I prefer the pad specific apps.
lol...you do know the note 8 and iphon X are with in $50 of each other, But i'm willing to bet the crappy note 8 has prolly dropped in price already...truly sad
Faith Florida my Note 8 was £850, iPhone x is £1,000 or £1,150 so I don't know where you get $50 from!? My iPhone 7plus is indeed holding its value but I buy phones for pleasure not investment and I get a hell of a lot more pleasure from my Note than iPhone. If that irks you then maybe you should get out more?
Both are excellent!! I upgraded from iPhone 6s to 8 Plus because I do love Apple echo system but the Note 8 is a beautiful powerful smart phone!! Nice to have choices.
soggygreenbean the galaxies have an edge on the sides to make them seem bezel-less. The top & bottom bezels look fat. iPhone X design definitely looks better IMO
Tiffany T. .. It really help me in my study .. I Always downloading PDF books and Always editing on them write some Notes on them using the S pen And instead of carrying them with me to the college.. And By using the S pen features that make my life really easier .. ^^
Not to say that you’re going to regret it but everyone I know who switched to an android phone always regretted it a few weeks later lol. Then they got another iPhone.. But the Note 8 really is among the best of smartphones so I’m sure you won’t regret this one
Gio Galvez well people i know switched to Samsung about 4 years ago and they're still with samsung. Actually i switched to Samsung about the same time. I was first then them. I wanted to try something else because i friggin hate itune. If i put music from anywhere else than iTunes it wiped it when it sync. I had the lot apple laptop ipad, ipod and iphone. I regretted buying them. I had to replace 3 macsafe and the laptop swelled up sitting on my desk. I thought i didnt close it properly but it turns out the battery swelled up. IPod died on me, iphone got slow after updates. Not much to say about my ipad i sold it too my bro's friend
I went for the iPhone 8 plus as the X will be beyond my budget. I prefer iOS since android is too fiddly for me. I tried an S8 plus but spent more time adjusting and customising than using. I also now have a Apple Watch 3 and I’m a happy man. As you said Tom it comes down to the software you are used to using. For me iOS
Huh? You spending more time adjusting and customizing the S8+ is more of an issue that you're addicted to customizing, rather than using. It's like saying that you prefer X burger over Y burger. Because even though Y burger gives you (and NOT forces you) the option to customize the burger over a stock Y burger if you wish, you still spend more time customizing Y burger rather than eating it, unlike X burger. Don't blame the product for your usage - there are many Android users out there that spend more time using rather than customizing their phones as well.
Valdric Lim : maybe you miss my point or I didn’t express properly. The S8 allows those who like to tinker while the iPhone is maybe for those who don’t want to. But they are both excellent phones. As Tom says it’s down to the software one’s used to.
Stephen Carr You can acostumbrate to android. You born with ios ?? No. You learn of ios. Iqualy in android. And the note 8 is better than the iphone x and iphone 11
It doesn't matter if you guys think Android is better because it doesn't force you to customize, the person prefers ios and that's their preference. Honestly, I like Android better but it doesn't mean that everyone should agree with me.
All I see is that someone simply prefers to use IOS also admitted that both phones are great, all come down to personal preference, it’s one of the most fair comments. Then after that a whole bunch of Samsung fans are just not happy with it, furthermore forcing everyone to like Android. He already said, PERSONAL PREFERENCE, stop this madness geez. By the way, if you say that Android is better and easier to use if people bother to learn, why don’t you bother to learn a bit about IOS? A lot of people (including a friend of mine) keep saying IOS is so bad, can’t do this can’t do that, turns out it’s only because they don’t know how to! The other day my friend said to me “you can even organise your apps and group them on you iPhone.” I was like “......seriously....?”
I hate with a passion the camera bump on the IPhone 8. SAMSUNG had the same complaint with their Galaxy S6 but had rectified that problem with the Galaxy S7, S8 and now Note 8.
Note 8 is For Great Personality/ Creative People's & iSheeps is for Suckers/Bitches Whatever You like to call, who Just count & Compare with other smartphones speed of loading up of apps
I agree with you. Note 8 is the best stand alone device, but I'd personally still go with the 8+. It's thanks to the Apple ecosystem as well as compatibility with my Apple Watch and continuity. It's just not worth getting a slightly better stand alone device and lose the integration of everything else. The iPhone is the gravity that keeps all my other devices together. And of course, we are still waiting for the best iPhone this year, so it'll be a close race.
The note 8 is a great phone and I looked at buying one but I ended up getting the iPhone 8 plus. I just prefer the software, the app ecosystem, the better speakers, the design and I didn't like all the kinda gimmicky "features" on the note. Honestly a lot of that stuff you'd use once and then forget about it. I also kinda hate how the galaxy/note phones' screen hangs over the edge so you constantly have reflection on the edges of the display and your hand/fingers are always covering up the edge. I think there is some benefit to having a small bezel. Even the top and bottom bezel on the iPhone is useful when playing games or watching video in landscape mode. Everyone is going crazy about these tall displays but I still prefer a standard 16:9 ratio display. Unfortunately it looks like they're dying out.
THIS was the best video for these phones. No biased nonsense. I have the Note 8 btw and I love it. Coming from the Nexus 6P this is a huge step up in quality.
Thank you for a unbiased review. Have to be honest American reviewers are all about the iPhone because it's batting for the home team. The speed difference isn't much difference in real life use and no longer makes up for the lack of features iOS has in comparison with the note series.
I got the iphone 8+ 2 weeks ago after having note 5. I hated it. Nothing innovative about it. Switched it for the note 8 and I freaking love the note 8! Even my iPhone-loving daughter is extremely impressed. I'm a Samsung loyal fan for life. I'll never get an iPhone ever again.
Nice one. I can't disagree with anything you said. You mentioned that no one will get excited about the iPhone 8 which is true but I think it's designed for people who don't get excited by phones and just need a solid functional device. The X on the other hand is what people will get excited about, probably over so.
??? Touchwiz (Aka... Samsung experience) isn't even that bad anymore. Yes it's not as good as stock android but it brings more unique features and I find it nice and easy to use. Not to bloaty and makes the phone a dream
Daniel Cheung stock shroud is overrated in my opinion only reason I would use a phone with stock android is cause of fear updates porter than that the Samsung experience UI is easy better
To my understanding, the 6gigs of RAM is for a lot more than just running the camera? Several videos's have shown how the Note 8 keeps a vastly larger number of apps open and available for instant use than the Iphone 8 or the S8. Apparently, this is attributed to the extra RAM and for me made a huge difference in which phone I wanted to have at my disposal on a daily basis. In-case you haven't seen, we are talking 29-30 apps open in RAM on the Note 8, vs 7 on on the S8 and 7-10 on the iPhone 8. I could be wrong, still waiting for my Note 8 to arrive ;) Love the video, keep up the good work!
The Tech Chap I've had apple for quite a while but love the note 8. Really tempted to get it as I'm not overly involved with apple ecosystem. Have you experienced much slow down or stutter with Note 8? Great reviews as always 👏🏼👍🏼
Ryan Deery i hv been using ios since 2009. Was tempted to get note 7 and eventually did and found note 7 better than i7plus since i had both. Now i hv 7plus n got note8 too. Super display. Most stunning. No lags nothing as such. Far better than 7 plus for sure
dalip vijh Cool. I might go for it. The worry is will the phone slow down after 6 months as I'll probably keep my next phone for at least two years. Will it stay fast ?
I been a fan of the Note series ever since their first release back in 2011 if I am not mistaken, but I switched to Apple about 1 year ago, and I been enjoying their software more than I can imagine. However I agree with you, I think Samsung needed to prove to their customers that they were able to deliver another Note phone and they did an amazing job. I have seen the Note 8 in person and it is a really nice piece of tech. I am not excited about their new Iphone 8 or the X but Apple's software alone is enough for me to continue using their product. Good video, great job.
The X OLED display is a stop gap for microLED. They needed to present something "new" to the iPhone line to keep it from getting stagnant while they get microLED where it needs to be to manufacture at scale.
*You forgot to mention these on Note 8:* 1- You can select ANY page and extract whatever text you see in text format using the pen. (live translation is a use). Right now I can easily select+copy your video title or any comments using the pen. 2- You can hard-press the home button even on full screen videos to get back to home page. 3- Bixby just kills Siri. UA-cam it. (Bixby + Google Assist) 4- Multy windows feature is so useful. I can do my stuff while watching UA-cam or being on a video call. Fascinating! 5- Samsung Pay works on almost all credit card readers even those that do not support NFC. 6- Iris scanner to unlock the phone even in absolute darkness. 7- A lot more that iPhone is not even close!
After recent events regarding price hikes from Apple, they have now lost a customer. I have sold my MacBook (and replaced it with an Acer Predator) and will be off-loading my iPhone at the end of my contact (probably getting a Samsung). My Apple watch I'll be keeping. If I wanted to replace my MBP and a new iPhone I'd be looking at close to £3k...absolutely silly money!!! So, as I said, back to Windows and a gaming laptop and an Android phone :) Apple have really lost the plot as far as I'm concerned!!!
If you always buy Apple you don't know what you're missing. You're probably one of the few people that has used both for a long time and is in a decent position to comment either way.
100 % Note fan. I've had them all and the 8 is just unreal. I've had it since launch and don't get any lag, in fact it seems to get better with age........
Not even a comparison, that's like comparing a Ferrari La Ferrari to a Chevy camaro. The note is superior in every way. That's like sayng should I rent out an apartment or should I buy a 1.6mm mansion. You can't even compare that iphone to any Top tier phone, that iphone is a mid tier.
you can actually because the price is pretty much the same when choosing contract like me, monthly phone bill up to 50 pounds. search high to low. samsung note 8 and iphone 8 plus. top phones. iphone x is more than 50 pounds a month. so thats why people would want to see these phones side by side. the iphone is 49 pounds a month where as the note 8 is 48 pounds a month and is newer. so my option is note 8.
Not so mute. I switched from an 8 plus to a note 8 and regretting it. The note 8 is slow and clunky, it's just not polished. Apple is so much smoother. Not a fan boy of either and maybe I'm missing a trick with the note, very much missing my iPhone at the moment
I am using a note 3¬e 4 for ages I like Samsung phones...but I will try iPhone 8plus for now and good value of money for my own opinion...thanks for review sir 😻
I am at the same point, I will wait for the pixel 2, because it could be normal priced... also the note 8 will drop a bit till then. Price in Germany already dropped from 999€ to 879€ in a few weeks
Great video! I really like your own opinion just because you're very sincered and you prefered day to day use instead of which one is better in specifications or faster in a millisecond. You've just have a new subscriber 👍👍
Thanks! It's the ASUS PG348Q. It's been out for over a year, so I probably won't be reviewing it now. But i will use it to compare it with ASUS' upcoming 2017 HDR/high-refresh rate Ultrawides :)
I like your reviews. Not being safe. You actually choose one over the other. Yup I'm getting the note 8 next week. The spen is actually very helpful for me.
jcru40 you forgot Samsung DEX. Just bought it... it's pretty cool. Got my gaming PC( windows), Apple Mac Pro (OS Sierra) and now note8 with DEX (android) hooked up to one monitor.
I'm so sick of these reviews that call everything a tie and it depends on what you like. Maybe in the past you could say that but this time around Samsung hit it out of the park. It's not even close. Props to this guy for not sitting on the fence.
A great comparison overall. Just a couple notes (no pun intended) You mention the iPhone 8 Plus true tone feature, basically adjusting color to ambient light... like usual just an Apple marketing term for what other phones already do, this is something Samsung phones have done for a while an in particular the Note 8 (and the S8) were the first phones to offer ambient light sensors in the front and back of the device (sometimes you body can shade your camera throwing off the ambient light sensor)... You can read Displaymates full review of that www.displaymate.com/Galaxy_Note8_ShootOut_100.htm The Adaptive Display screen mode provides real-time Adaptive processing that can dynamically adjust images and videos. For some applications it will vary the White Point, Color Gamut, and Color Saturation based on the image content and the color of the surrounding ambient lighting measured by the Ambient Light Sensor (which measures color in addition to brightness). Basically this is what the Adaptive screen mode is for, which is the default. This is why it uses more vivid colors in a higher than sRGB color space because ambient light will wash out your colors. You can switch to the "Basic" mode for an amazingly accurate sRGB color space mode, the Cinema mode supports the larger DCI-P3 color gamut quite accurately, and the Photo mode support the expand Adobe RGB gamut (great for professionals). These different modes have been in Samsung phones for years and are amazing features (though the Cinema mode doing DCI-P3 is a new feature this year), most people have misunderstood the vivid colors for a lack of capable color accuracy, but that's just the default mode, you switch to basic and it's color accuracy has usually beat out every other phone on the market (including the iPhone). I'll also add that performance test have shown the extra RAM really helps with keeping apps alive in memory, so if you switch between apps a lot throughout your use cases it can prevent you from having to reload apps, I think one test loaded 25 apps and then reloaded them and they all stayed in memory (with other phones usually tapping out around 10-15 apps)... obviously this depends on the specific apps and the content in them, but shows the extra RAM does indeed give a great advantage and I suspect a lot of people these days switch between apps actively
Matthew Langley Other Samsung phones gave done this for years eith ambiemt light. And i dont even know for how long or if anyone else already did it as well
I have a Note 8 and an iPhone 8 Plus. The screen difference IMO isn't amazingly different to the human eye surfing Facebook and texting... which is 90% of people using their phone. Also, I've cracked both and the 8+ costs $20 to replace, the Note 8 costs $250 to replace. It's not worth the cost difference. Both phones are top notch in performance, but the Samsung lags more than the iPhone which doesn't lag at all. I like the stylus on the note and it's features, which is why I got it. It makes a ton of useful shortcuts and is more productive than the iPhone, but I can absolutely rip through things on the iPhone because of how efficient it is. If I had to do it again I wouldn't have bought the note 8 because the iPhone 8 plus does everything well and has low replacement costs for parts. I don't feel the Note 8 justifies the ridiculous costs in parts if you break something or it dies. If I didn't have an iPhone 8+ I'd have the Note 8 and enjoy it. I went 6 months with just the Note 8 before adding the iPhone 8+ (had the 7+ before the note). One thing I love is that my Samsung wireless Qi fast charger charges both phones.
Hi Tom, Thank you for your video. I agree with your comments regarding the software. Yes they are both magic phones. I have had 3 notes. I was thinking about an apple 8 plus but once you explained the differences I will wait on the ten but I think it will be the note 8 for me. I enjoy all your reviews keep up the good work for the unbiased and honest reviews
Faith Florida Lmao. What a dumbass sheep you. Cause in fact its not balanced and good. But thats because he was too impartial as to not upset or offend anyone. So he couldnt give clear winnings where they are except for certain things like screen and design
Man, I remember watching your channel and you had 120k subscribers now your at 140k! Keep your videos crisp like this and you'll get more! Very informative! Plus your accent is awesome! Completely different from where I from haha
Currently have a 6+. I’ve been buying Apple devices since the release of the Iphone 3. I’m switching to windows for PCs and maybe android for phones, since windows pcs are so much faster AND you can actually play games on them
Great comparison! Can’t wait to see the iPhone X vs Note 8. I use to be an android user in 2009 then I switched to iOS in 2010 and never looked back. Apple’s UI is easier and less laggy in my experience.
I was an iPhone user from 2008 till 1 week ago. Totally disappointed with the iPhone 8 and iPhone X. Switched to the Note 8 since then and never looked back. Android UI was so complicated and laggy years ago, as per some Android user's feedback. But in now it's so much smoother and pack with features nowadays. Glad that i ditched my Jet Black and go for the real deal Midnight Black.
McJagger Kakdemet speed test? What speed test? Same concept as GPU. It doesnt matter if GTX1080Ti wins a GTX1050Ti benchmark with a landslide, if you are only plying in FHD 60fps, theres not much of a difference. True iPhone's processor is top notch, no doubt. But speedtest means nothing much when it comes to normal daily usage
I’ve had both adroid as well as iPhone which I’m currently using, both are great in their own way!! Imo android offers more features but over time is less consistent, also doesn’t hold its value compared to Apple. Get whatever works for your needs and whichever you prefer
You know what I'd, personally, would be super interested in? A comparison between a 200-300 euros (or pounds) phone and a top phone. As a student, I found myself with little money (I guess many other students can relate to this situation, you might as well since you were one of us!), that's why I'm using a phone I paid 150 euros. Nowadays, which is the difference between a cheap phone and an expensive one? Is it really worth it spending that much money on a phone? Always great videos anyway, keep up the good job and good luck for everything!
Check out a5 2017 by Samsung or a7, j7 Pro, My a5 has 16mp camera front and back, 3gb ram, 8 core processor, water proof (ip68), glass back and front, 3000mah battery, its very smooth never lags
I just got the note 8 and I LOVE IT!!!@ I got rid of my iPhone 7 plus for this and it was a great choice, I find the features of the note more useful than the iPhone. Like he said it's all a personal preference of what you like tho.
This iPhone is a 7s really, not many changes. Also, will you ever do a revisit of the S8 in the near future? I remember you talking about Samsung devices starting to lag after using them for a while
en3rgy_22 still have the s8+ and no lag issues like past Samsung phones. I think the lag in previous phones came from thermal throttling because they got so hot, but the new Galaxy phones don't have that problem. They stay cool
REEF X mr i can not say the same for my s8. Touch freezes, multiple times in 6 months. And it's starts to lagging. I needed to return my s7 4x times ... I owned the s2, s3, s4, s6 edge , normal s7 and now the s8. Also I had the note 1 and 3 , and the HTC one x, m7, m8. Between I used a couple of weeks a iPhone 4s and iPhone 6. But the buttery life was garbage. After all these phones I finally decided to go with Apple again next month. I just want to see something else. Maybe I will switch to the s9 again , who knows , but I need something else for now
Great video can't wait for the comparisons between the note 8 and iPhone 10 even though I bought the note on the release date is still like to know from opinions if I made the right choice
Maximilian Pütz all points? The iPhone has. Better camera Better video Better processor Better apps Better resale value rate Dual speakers True tone Software support Annual updates W1 chip software Continuity with macs and iPads iMessage Apple ecosystem And is 150$ cheaper Android is a scattered joke. Get over.🤷♂️
Maximilian Pütz Either that or you just like stuff that works fast, smooth, well, and have bought a lot of quality apps over the years, and like good resell value of your products. But, yeah, we’ll just put it down to cultist attitude.
I'll wait for the excuses IOS 11 is not optimised. Give it a few months for developers. It's the animations. IOS 11 had plenty of time to test. Developers had to switch there apps to 64bit. STOP It's the animations. If this was the cause who fault is this. Sure not Android, cause it has animations on as well. STOP Give it a few months can be said for the note as well. People are butt hurt cause they seen the scores and thought it would be blazing fast. And it's not. The iphones battery life sucks. Reason i always see ppl with IPhones always have them plugged in or there chargers are always with them. IPhone suck at videos play back. Any kind of watching video the phones take a serious hit. When it comes to opening Daily apps it's just a lil slower. Not a bad thing. But it's still slower 😂 The A11 chip is only good at loading games. NOTE 8 IS THE ONLY TRUE MULTITASKING PHONE It can open 4 or more apps on one screen and they can all be used at one time. I'm not talking about the apps u open are still in the backgrounds. No. 4 or more apps on one screen at a time. U can have Facebook. IG. U tube. And GPS all running on the same screen. O let's compare the X to the note what diff will it be. The battery will still suck. IOS 11 is still the same. What cause u think cause it has a diff screen and girl face emojis this makes the phone solo much better then the note. It's still the same phone. Just now has a bigger screen. Which is a good thing. But still. It's still the same IOS as every other iphone phone The prob is. Apple is now adding all the features that have been in Android phones for year. And now this is why they are running into problems with there software. Android had these same problems but they figured it out and now the times have switched where Apple apps crash and the system lags at times and the battery suck. Things Android players used to deal with. 2017 phones are over it B ✌
Honestly it always depends on which one you like, apple or android! We all know that if you’re pro Apple your gonna get the IPhone and if your pro android you’re gonna get the not 8. Simple
I love the Note 8 but the only reason that keeps me stick to an iPhone is the App Store. I know some people are gonna say that you can find almost the same apps on iOS or Android, but there are differences that makes them better on iOS. Basically I’d like a Note 8 or 9 or an S9 with the quality of iOS apps, and we know that’s not gonna happen
I'll also be comparing the Note 8 to the iPhone X (but it's not out yet and I'm not loved enough by Apple to get sent one) :'(
What a shame, your channel is very underrated. Your videos are quite good and you always look great.
Not loved enough ‘yet’!
'quite good' eh? ;)
The Tech Chap Damned with faint praise 🙂
More support to you
Options are great, both really good phones. Note 8 for me, but the iPhone is also an excellent choice. Let's all get along and love our devices instead of bashing each other for personal choices.
That's the person I like.
I went for note 8 and glad I did. Brilliant phone
k brooks how you finding the camera results
k brooks: Does your Note 8 lag? I went to AT&T store and oh boy. Note 8 lags as hell. On other stand even old iPhone SE was way faster.
@@sunshadow9704 Mine lags a bit every so often (depends on the app or what I'm doing) other than that it's alright.
Very good comparison. I prefer note 8
Love the Note 8, so many useful features.
What do you mean? Btw ... considering Victoria's profile picture she'll be happy with the Note 8.
umm why? 3.5 hours back up needed? cos I think Note 8 has a very good stand by time and 3300mAh is big enough for 1 or 1.5 days
Victoria Rice today I still have my iPhone 8 Plus... what about your Note 8?
I upgraded from iPhone 7 Plus to a Note 8. This last few years I’ve learnt to not become too invested in either ecosystem. I use WhatsApp, Spotify, Netflix and amazon prime which I can use on either. The note felt better value to me and I’m getting a lot of use out of the pen with drawing and photo apps. 8 plus is too samey and X seems shockingly overpriced and frankly underwhelming. I have iPad tablet though because I prefer the pad specific apps.
I have an s7 edge. Very pretty phone and also a very good one. I have an iPhone 6 for work and I just don't like iOS. Stable yes. Boring yes.
Lol if you can afford the note 8 you can definitely afford the iphone x. Theyre like just 50$ difference lmao.
Reino Yu overpriced as in not enough phone for the money. Its a boring update (IMO)
lol...you do know the note 8 and iphon X are with in $50 of each other, But i'm willing to bet the crappy note 8 has prolly dropped in price already...truly sad
Dennis Tetrault I did the same upgrade as you. So far I’m liking the iPhone 8 plus.
Dennis Tetrault planning to upgrade from 6S+ to iPhone X just because of the OLED display. I kind of dislike bezel-less phone tbh.
Mlordy so u get the x?
Mlordy the iPhone X doesnt have a bezeless display but an edge to edge display. The Note8 and the S8 is considered a bezeless display
soggygreenbean the galaxies have an edge on the sides to make them seem bezel-less. The top & bottom bezels look fat. iPhone X design definitely looks better IMO
I am a Note series Guy Because they really help me in college*
*college.
Julio César Perdomo 🌷🌷
How so?
Tiffany T. .. It really help me in my study .. I Always downloading PDF books and Always editing on them write some Notes on them using the S pen And instead of carrying them with me to the college.. And By using the S pen features that make my life really easier .. ^^
Hussein Ali yehhh you are right boy😘😘
Thank You for NOT sitting on the fence!! It's very refreshing hearing someones personal opinion!!
iPhone 8 Plus is just regular phone... Note 8 is device for real work. It's more than phone.
Feels like more of a computer than a phone. Definitely a different device for different people.
Best choice I made two weeks ago was ditching my iPhone after 7 years and switching to the Note 8. Absolutely love this phone!!!!
Daniel Herrera is it alot better than s8 plus?
Not to say that you’re going to regret it but everyone I know who switched to an android phone always regretted it a few weeks later lol. Then they got another iPhone.. But the Note 8 really is among the best of smartphones so I’m sure you won’t regret this one
Gio Galvez well people i know switched to Samsung about 4 years ago and they're still with samsung. Actually i switched to Samsung about the same time. I was first then them. I don't care what *NOBODY* says! The Note 8,HANDS DOWN, the *BEST* phone of 2017!
REPLY
actually the x
I can't agree with you on that. I tried the X out my local best buy and was disappointed about the phone
The only reason is that note 8 is not slim as iPhone 8 plus
TheRadKad Fazo The x is only better to ill informed and bias fanboys.
Jack Skellington exactly
Note 8
I went for the iPhone 8 plus as the X will be beyond my budget. I prefer iOS since android is too fiddly for me. I tried an S8 plus but spent more time adjusting and customising than using.
Note 8 😍😍😍
It ducks
Theo Maybe he means It sucks cuz in the keyboard d is behind the s
I hate with a passion the camera bump on the IPhone 8. SAMSUNG had the same complaint with their Galaxy S6 but had rectified that problem with the Galaxy S7, S8 and now Note 8.
Yeah. Camera bumps suck. The one on the X is even worse. You'll need a case to stop it wobbling if you use your phone on a table.
Note 8 is definitely BEST of the BEST.
Darken Yuki short term yes long term no
Pretty Boy Flizzy long term yes if you know how to take care of it
Pretty Boy Flizzy wrong
Note8 is Best
Note 8 is For Great Personality/ Creative People's & iSheeps is for Suckers/Bitches Whatever You like to call, who Just count & Compare with other smartphones speed of loading up of apps
Note 8. Its so much more features
More doesn't mean better
And better camera, and display
Pointless gimmicks*
the camera isn´t better the iphone 8/8 plus have 4k 60 fps and the galaxy only has 30 fps and the iphone has 1080p 240fps
??? That doesnt define the carmera quality, watch any good in depth comparison like the one SuperSaf TV did
I agree with you.
And of course, we are still waiting for the best iPhone this year, so it'll be a close race.
true
Note 8 has a ton of features ....iPhone is just a basic PHONE
You are mistaken.
Jawohl let's be honest .....I used both iPhone and Samsung
Exactly, let's be honest. You are mistaken with your claim.
More doesn't mean better
technoguy I understand that point , but if we start talking about who is better we are not going to finish that dilemma
yeah agree NOTE 8 is BAE 😍😍😍
and its a million times better than iphone X
don't say BAE... you fucking sad little spastic.
Hahahaha, your nephew is definitely waiting for the X :P
Mrwhosetheboss Wow , didn't expect to see you here 👏
I was talking about 17-20 years from now. you lil bish
I did. I said he was waiting. you lil bishj
Why are we talking about this.
Dr Mundo nasty ass
Thank you for a unbiased review. Have to be honest American reviewers are all about the iPhone because it's batting for the home team.
The speed difference isn't much difference in real life use and no longer makes up for the lack of features iOS has in comparison with the note series.
This has to be one of your best videos. Very well written, excellent video work and editing, and awesome script!
Keep rocking dude.
Kathy Lambert ditched my Note 8 after 2 weeks. Using iPhone X right now.
Great review, honest and impartial well done and keep it, it's nice to see a reviewer on youtube being truthfull for a change, nice.
Thanks Adrian :)
Because I have watched countless iPhone v note 8 videos and this is the FIRST to show a speaker difference, I am definitely subscribing. Great job
Galaxy Note 8 is king of all smartphones
And the iPhone is the lord of all iPhones
No
Yes
It's not th much king it's the present
iPhone is the lord of iPhones
iphone X will be a king of king best ever no one can beat it i thing
Absolutely love my Note 8, especially the ability to translate with the S Pen and Bixby vision.
I changed from an iPhone 6 to the Note 8. Best decision of my life. Period.
Gosh you must have a fabulously carefree and easy life.
Nice one. I can't disagree with anything you said. You mentioned that no one will get excited about the iPhone 8 which is true but I think it's designed for people who don't get excited by phones and just need a solid functional device. The X on the other hand is what people will get excited about, probably over so.
Samsung for phones
Apple for tablets
Edward Bishop no pls no touch wiz
My feelings exactly
??? Touchwiz (Aka... Samsung experience) isn't even that bad anymore. Yes it's not as good as stock android but it brings more unique features and I find it nice and easy to use. Not to bloaty and makes the phone a dream
iPads aren't shit compared to a surface pro
I could be wrong, still waiting for my Note 8 to arrive ;)
Love the video, keep up the good work!
The note should really be compared to the iPhone X
srbell67 agreed, the iPhone 8 and 8 plus should be compared to the s8 and s8+ respectively
In terms of price, the iPhone 8 Plus and Note 8 are the most similar. Although I will also be comparing it to the X when it comes out in November :)
As objective a comparison as you can get. I agree that it all just comes down to which ecosystem you prefer.
Enjoyed the video, I prefer the Note 8
I been a fan of the Note series ever since their first release back in 2011 if I am not mistaken, but I switched to Apple about 1 year ago, and I been enjoying their software more than I can imagine. However I agree with you, I think Samsung needed to prove to their customers that they were able to deliver another Note phone and they did an amazing job. I have seen the Note 8 in person and it is a really nice piece of tech. I am not excited about their new Iphone 8 or the X but Apple's software alone is enough for me to continue using their product. Good video, great job.
Had you sat on the fence you would have lost some credibility. Pretty obvious Apple continues to play catch up. Even with the Iphone X. So well done.
You can no longer claim that iPhone LCD screens are as good as AMOLED ones. If they were why would they put AMOLED on the higher grade X?
The X OLED display is a stop gap for microLED. They needed to present something "new" to the iPhone line to keep it from getting stagnant while they get microLED where it needs to be to manufacture at scale.
betterofallevils They are not getting oled or micro led where ot needs though. Samsung, sony, and others are
*You forgot to mention these on Note 8:*
1- You can select ANY page and extract whatever text you see in text format using the pen. (live translation is a use). Right now I can easily select+copy your video title or any comments using the pen.
2- You can hard-press the home button even on full screen videos to get back to home page.
3- Bixby just kills Siri. UA-cam it. (Bixby + Google Assist)
4- Multy windows feature is so useful.
Bang bros is magic on note 8
😂😂😂
Bruh 😂😆😆😆😆
Chief Dubica 😂yes
Chief Dubica So is pornhub 😂😂😂
🤣🤣
Finally someone who actually gave their honest opinion on what they liked better. Thank you!
So, as I said, back to Windows and a gaming laptop and an Android phone :)
Apple have really lost the plot as far as I'm concerned!!!
If you always buy Apple you don't know what you're missing. You're probably one of the few people that has used both for a long time and is in a decent position to comment either way.
Who cares. You’re not a loss. Lol
Red Hood What does that even mean?
100 % Note fan. I've had them all and the 8 is just unreal. I've had it since launch and don't get any lag, in fact it seems to get better with age........
Not even a comparison, that's like comparing a Ferrari La Ferrari to a Chevy camaro. The note is superior in every way. That's like sayng should I rent out an apartment or should I buy a 1.6mm mansion. You can't even compare that iphone to any Top tier phone, that iphone is a mid tier.
2007suprasport what? Lol
you can actually because the price is pretty much the same when choosing contract like me, monthly phone bill up to 50 pounds. search high to low. samsung note 8 and iphone 8 plus. top phones. iphone x is more than 50 pounds a month. so thats why people would want to see these phones side by side. the iphone is 49 pounds a month where as the note 8 is 48 pounds a month and is newer. so my option is note 8.
2007suprasport Thats just rude. Tue camero is cool and great looking car lol. Way beyond being compared to a an iphone lol
Not so mute. I switched from an 8 plus to a note 8 and regretting it. The note 8 is slow and clunky, it's just not polished. Apple is so much smoother. Not a fan boy of either and maybe I'm missing a trick with the note, very much missing my iPhone at the moment
Matthew Davies Note 8 slow and clunky???? Lmao. Oh but you're not a fanboy 😂😂
I'm deciding bt the iPhone 8 and the note 8. Your comments really help
Choose your Nephew hehe. He is so cute God bless him :)
I am using a note 3¬e 4 for ages I like Samsung phones...but I will try iPhone 8plus for now and good value of money for my own opinion...thanks for review sir 😻
Note 8 Genius..........
Love the video! I found your channel only a couple of months ago but you have quickly become one of my favorite tech UA-camrs.
is it just me or the iPhone 8 plus video footage is significantly less sharp than the note 8 ?
Nizar El-Zarif just u… apperantly u need to see eye doctors
It’s the opposite
Nizar El-Zarif I thought it looked less sharp too.
Blind fool
Thats because the brutally outdated 1080 LCD display from 200BC
Can't find any youtubers comparing an iphone vs samsung phone after 1-4 years of used xD. That's one good video to watch.
Awesome and very helpful. One more doubt,Wait for the pixel 2, or go for the note 8 ?
note 8 of course
I am at the same point, I will wait for the pixel 2, because it could be normal priced... also the note 8 will drop a bit till then. Price in Germany already dropped from 999€ to 879€ in a few weeks
Great video! I really like your own opinion just because you're very sincered and you prefered day to day use instead of which one is better in specifications or faster in a millisecond. You've just have a new subscriber 👍👍
Thats a sexy monitor behind you. Review coming soon?
Thanks! It's the ASUS PG348Q. It's been out for over a year, so I probably won't be reviewing it now. But i will use it to compare it with ASUS' upcoming 2017 HDR/high-refresh rate Ultrawides :)
Im quite familiar with it, how did you get it? What happened to the dell? And will you review the dell 38" one?
He's one of the cutest phone geek on UA-cam. Oh my God. I love you 😍
iCrap 8 and Galaxy Bloat 8!! Nothing is better than my 100BC Stone phone
30sec Trivias LMAO
You gave Flint S.8?
I like your reviews. Not being safe. You actually choose one over the other. Yup I'm getting the note 8 next week. The spen is actually very helpful for me.
Note 8 , VR, gear 360 camera, s pen, headphone jack , amoled.
jcru40 you forgot Samsung DEX. Just bought it... it's pretty cool. Got my gaming PC( windows), Apple Mac Pro (OS Sierra) and now note8 with DEX (android) hooked up to one monitor.
Patrick Sarker sounds like a dope setup!!!
I'm so sick of these reviews that call everything a tie and it depends on what you like. Maybe in the past you could say that but this time around Samsung hit it out of the park. It's not even close. Props to this guy for not sitting on the fence.
you are one of the best tech youtuber.no doubt keep the good work.
This video just helped me into choosing which phone to get thank you
And what did you get?
A great comparison overall. Just a couple notes (no pun intended)
You mention the iPhone 8 Plus true tone feature, basically adjusting color to ambient light... like usual just an Apple marketing term for what other phones already do, this is something Samsung phones have done for a while an in particular the Note 8 (and the S8) were the first phones to offer ambient light sensors in the front and back of the device (sometimes you body can shade your camera throwing off the ambient light sensor)... You can read Displaymates full review of that
www.displaymate.com/Galaxy_Note8_ShootOut_100.htm
The Adaptive Display screen mode provides real-time Adaptive processing that can dynamically adjust images and videos.
One thing I love is that my Samsung wireless Qi fast charger charges both phones.
i would prefer note 8
Many tech guys out there, I only subscribed to this uk honest one.
AWESOME VIDEO
Hi Tom,
Thank you for your video.
As always top job old chap. Nice and balanced review. Look forward to your take on the X. 👍🏽
Balanced??? He couldn't be anymore biased to android/Sammy if he tried....I'm sure your check is in the mail...
Completely different from where I from haha
watching this video on my note 8 😀😀
yeah me too
Currently have a 6+.
Stranger Danger android has improved way more than you'd even expect!😊
I agree I had the s6 edge it was so laggy and choppy iOS is so smooth
Not for long... People complain about IOS11...
But speedtest means nothing much when it comes to normal daily usage
nice job .This helped me decide on the Note 8.
I want a Samsung galaxy Note 8
I’ve had both adroid as well as iPhone which I’m currently using, both are great in their own way!! Imo android offers more features but over time is less consistent, also doesn’t hold its value compared to Apple. Get whatever works for your needs and whichever you prefer
Iphone 8 plus crushes the note 8 with the A11 chip! Iphone 8 plus is way faster.
Jesse Stranzenbach its not. Watch speed test, note 8 won lmao
someone someone for 5 minutes yes, samsung slows it's ass down pretty quickly.
My s8+ still the same speed even after several weeks. So you are wrong
several weeks, wow. within a year it won't be, my iphone 6 plus is still fast after 2 years
So is my friend`s samsung note 4 after 2 years. So you are still wrong.
Always great videos anyway, keep up the good job and good luck for everything!
definitely something i'd like to do! Good idea :)
Check out a5 2017 by Samsung or a7, j7 Pro,
My a5 has 16mp camera front and back, 3gb ram, 8 core processor, water proof (ip68), glass back and front, 3000mah battery, its very smooth never lags
When i only buy Samsung and never would buy Apple and already have a note 8
Just watching for pure entertainment
I just got the note 8 and I LOVE IT!!!@ I got rid of my iPhone 7 plus for this and it was a great choice, I find the features of the note more useful than the iPhone. Like he said it's all a personal preference of what you like tho.
I have the note 8 and its the best there is!
Edith Rosengarten iPhone better
John Anderson 😂😂😂😂 Good one.
John Anderson Nope ..I've got both .They're both awesome, But I wouldn't say the iphone 8 plus is better .
The stylus based translation feature on note 8 is really useful.
NOTE 8
Have a 8+ and I’m thrilled with it. Don’t think I can ever get used to Android.
So again Samsung is better in nearly all points and the only reason to buy an iPhone is because you are a Cultist
Maximilian Pütz all points? The iPhone has.
Better camera
Better video
Better processor
Better apps
Better resale value rate
Dual speakers
True tone
Software support
Annual updates
W1 chip software
Continuity with macs and iPads
iMessage
Apple ecosystem
And is 150$ cheaper
Android is a scattered joke. Get over.🤷♂️
bobbyright2010 haha did you see the video.. Don't believe everything you're overlord apple tells you..
Or if phones just don't excite you, get the iPhone 8
Maximilian Pütz saw the video and loved it. The truth hurts. Get over it. iPhone 8 plus FTW.
Maximilian Pütz Either that or you just like stuff that works fast, smooth, well, and have bought a lot of quality apps over the years, and like good resell value of your products. But, yeah, we’ll just put it down to cultist attitude.
A refreshing unbiased video 👌
I'll wait for the excuses
IOS 11 is not optimised.
Give it a few months for developers.
It's the animations.
IOS 11 had plenty of time to test. Developers had to switch there apps to 64bit. STOP
It's the animations. If this was the cause who fault is this. Sure not Android, cause it has animations on as well. STOP
Give it a few months can be said for the note as well.
But it's still slower 😂
The A11 chip is only good at loading games.
NOTE 8 IS THE ONLY TRUE MULTITASKING PHONE
It can open 4 or more apps on one screen and they can all be used at one time.
But still. It's still the same IOS as every other iphone phone
The prob is.
Simple
first, love you😗😗😗
Thank you
M
Lixin Zhang Xi Jin Ping says "don't love white boy".
I love the Note 8 but the only reason that keeps me stick to an iPhone is the App Store. I know some people are gonna say that you can find almost the same apps on iOS or Android, but there are differences that makes them better on iOS. Basically I’d like a Note 8 or 9 or an S9 with the quality of iOS apps, and we know that’s not gonna happen
iPhone 8+ 🙌🏼
The 6 gigs of ram makes a huge difference in app management and speed and loading of apps along with the APU.
a headphone jack? havent used one of those since my sony walkman.
I’m due an upgrade next week. After having iPhones for 8 years, and seeing what the iPhone 8 & 10 have to offer, I’m switching to the Note 8.
Not 8 is the winner
Bought Note 8. Never was so satisfied with phone, Note 8 - definitely the best smartphone ever. Thanks samsung because you exist.
I returned my Note 8 after a week, its an awful phone. Replaced it with an 8 plus. Couldnt be happier.
Michael Morgan u made right decision cuz u can use it for like 3 yrs without lagging…
This is the best comparison I have seen so far...
