- The long awaited change of the front wheel bearing has finally happened. Its sorted out many of the noises im getting from Ned. Otherside needs doing, but in time!
This was quite a simple job. It had been changed before and the old bearing just fell off!
The hardest part was getting my hands on the correct 46mm socket.

Well its a 20 year old Z4, im sure your list is going to be as long as mine lol.
I have been for a long drive today and I have a strange knocking noise from the front and I am starting to have that steering wander that other z4 owners have had. So its going to be a long week trying to work out whats happening !
@@desilva68 hope I can fix before something breaks while keeping budget in balance. One of my challenges is roadnoise. My previous Z4 had a lot less road noise but I cannot find the root cause yet. Insulated the wheel wells did help a lot but the noise stays. It's like constant noise entering the back of the car while driving on certain tarmac.
Maybe your rear bearings need changing or the rubber drive shaft coupling on prop shaft is at fault. There are some videos on that rubber coupling causing problems.

@@desilva68 regarding the knocking sound. I had that couple of weeks ago. It turned out that the air fan (for interior) was at fault. Garage fixed it under warranty.
Regarding sounds my plan is to use an old Bluetooth headset and put it in some protective case. Except for the mic ofcourse. This will allow me to mount the case near a suspected issue and record the sound while driving. I hope I can figure out the root cause of the noise.

Yeah I was expecting problems getting this off, but it just fell off!
No need to use the notch in nut when it's that tight lol and I see you don't trust the torque wrench
Torque wrench only went to 210Nm BMW says it should be 280Nm! But it hasnt fallen off yet🤣

Change the front wheel bearing and the bit you don't show is taking of the wheel bearing. Pretty pointless.
That was because the wheel bearing just fell off! I didnt have to put any effort into pulling it. So pretty pointless? I think it shows how piss easy the job was to do! But thanks for your useless comment! If you had read the description i quite clearly state that it just fell off!!!
