SAS: Rogue Heroes is a 2022 British historical drama television series created by Steven Knight, which depicts the origins of the British Army Special Air Service (SAS) during the Western Desert Campaign of World War II. The storyline is a broadly accurate representation of real events, as described by Ben Macintyre in his 2016 book of the same name.
On 4 December 2022, the BBC confirmed that a second series had been commissioned, based upon SAS operations in the European theatre of war.

The Special Air Service (SAS) is a special forces unit of the British Army. It was founded as a regiment in 1941 by David Stirling, and in 1950 it was reconstituted as a corps. The unit specialises in a number of roles including counter-terrorism, hostage rescue, direct action and special reconnaissance. Much of the information about the SAS is highly classified, and the unit is not commented on by either the British government or the Ministry of Defence due to the secrecy and sensitivity of its operations.

Blood and guts is an general Patton reference?
If there weren't records, files, and first-hand accounts of what these mad men achieved, it would be considered fiction.
mean some of that also applies to one of the Founders Work in the China Station as a Police Officer
Already is to an extent.
These men would be very disappointed today.
@thenoneckpeoplerepresentat8074 I don't know if they would. They grew up in a time of classism, nationality, and privilege. Where all the officers were born to rank, education, and influence.
The SAS, however, was a meritocracy. The regimental thinking of the army was ignored for results. These 'Bastard' were given leeway to do what they did because they got it done.
@@Zaint In 2022 there were 3000 people arrested in the UK for speech violations vs 300 in Russia. Believe me when I say these patriotic men would be very disappointed.
Did the algorithm move us off of generation kill already?
We were in band of brothers for almost a year
Have you ever watch Valkrie, Catch 22 or generation to kill or maybe Full metal kacket
Nah had a whole slew of generation kill videos before this.

Brit bro dropped the second hardest baptism of all time and went to sleep.
The British SAS gave birth to the Australian SASR (Special Air Service Regiment) in 1957 and the New Zealand SASR in 1955.
And in WW2 we also had Z Special Unit who parachuted or submarined into insane places.

I'm pretty sure a lot of the world's special forces ended up using the sas as a template in one way of another
James McNulty is at it again
dont worry, he put on a dress for the previous scene. least he put his uniform on for this one

McNulty had a wild backstory before becoming a detective in Baltimore.
“We are the pilgrims master, we shall go,
Always a little farther it may be,
Beyond that last blue mountain barred with snow,
Or across that angry shimmering sea.”
Good to see ol mcnutty still bending them rules.
God dammit McNulty it was supposed to be a quick bust operation, now we’re creating all whole new battalion
I have been to Hereford. Stayed in the Officers mess for a week in 1999. Played the British SAS in rugby and beat them too. It was an amazing week. After that we went down to Poole and played the Royal Marines and SBS. Beat them too. Seeing all the photos etc in the mess of Stirling was amazing. I still have the Pilgrims neck tie that we were presented by the Brits.
Good to see mcnulty turned things around.
I approve of this turn in the Algorithm. Time for 2nd series soon hopefully then.
They are the combined wealth of knowledge of imperium Britannica, honed like a dagger to the finest point.
The SAS, as a American even I know and respect the name of those Brave lads, and would buy them a pint any day of the week
As a fellow American, I support this message. And while my budget doesn't stretch to "You're drinking for free, tonight," I could probably stand a round for any member of "Sport And Social" I happened to meet at the pub
Deeeeeeep cover for McNulty!
That boy mcnulty must be a vampire or something.
That's some great writing and acting
Saludos amigos Aliados for beating the axix

The birth of the detachment where almost all special forces are patterned from.
SAS- Sterling and Sterling 😅
So thats where McNulty started before joining the Baltimore PD
That looks VERY COOL! Back when innovation in wartime was cheered on and not punished!
damn, McNulty was fighting the system since ww2

Ah Adam's military training was worth it then.
So McNulty sorted out his insorbordination issues and created the SAS? Nice!

Gonna be honest, my first thought watching this clip was "Call of Duty...?" Because SAS and Ghosts and some of the lore behind it.
It's the man who says "muffin me".
Loved this series
Read “The Phantom Major” by Virginia Cowles
Great book on Stirling and the first missions of the SAS
Whoever that man is, he looks like Good Po-lease
All props to the SAS, baddest of the badass.
Founder of the SAS was Scottish not English
He had an English accent.. you can hear it in his interviews
The founder of the SAS, David Stirling (the one on the right in the clip), was born in Scotland but was educated in and spent the vast majority of his life in England. He had an English accent, not a Scottish one.
The Regiment that painted their jeeps pink for camouflage in the desert, and it worked better than anything used before
And a legend is born

"The Special Air Royal Service, or SARS." 😂
This oozes with cool, and I'm here for it
This is f'ing awesome!! I need to find the movie it came from!
It's not a movie, it's a 6 episode series called SAS: Rogue Heroes
Mcnulty moved out of baltimore
He who dares wins!!!!
I love his narration in BF1 most British sounding brit ever
Mcnulty puts on weird accents when hes on the piss.
However, it was the LRDP that had to escort them to their targets. The LRDP was mostly New Zealanders and Rhodesians.
LRDG, not LRDP. LRDG guys came from all over, but yes, NZs were overrepresented.
The LRDG did some joint ops with the SAS but they were not 'escorting' them on all or most of their ops.
Mcnutty dun gon cray cray wwii British noise.

Well technically any unit in any military didn't exist till it became an idea someone actually wanted to make real not to mention all the ideas that never get good enough to have someone willing to back it and make it real

What movie/show? Very interesting o.o
SAS Rogue Heroes
In real life, David Stirling was a complete bastard.
It'll be interesting to see what the writers do with Stirling in the second series. Seeing as in real life, after his capture he spent much of the rest of the war in Colditz.
SAS was awesome in Desert Storm. Stone Cold killers and that's a good thing.
Well their most famous mission from the Gulf War was a complete clusterfuck which multiple of the operators than lied about to take glory for themselves even though they didn’t do anything. They blamed the failure on the dead guy even though they themselves were just arrogant and incompetent.
Like the one that got away didnt few get lost frostbite in the dessert I'll prepared I guess that's how you learn tho from experience
@@darrenjones1413 No that whole book was bullshit. The SAS operator, named Chris Ryan, who wrote the book just lied about everything, he never actually encountered or killed any enemies. So did another SAS operator in the patrol who wrote another book. His name is Andy McNabb. They are both total pieces of shit, not heroes. They blamed the failure of the patrol on their dead teammate, when in reality it was their fault because they were arrogant and incompetent. They said they killed dozens of enemy even though they actually didn’t kill any. Former SAS and famed explorer Michale Asher, with the help of the SAS regimental sergeant at the time, released a documentary disproving their lies. A New Zealand SAS soldier who was on the patrol also released a book that was backed up by debriefs and facts, not lies. He set the record straight. Another member of the patrol, Ian Pring called McNabb and Ryan’s books “a pack of lies”.
So not all these guys are heroes, these two are total pieces of shit. And right now five SAS operators are under investigation for war crimes in Syria. Plenty of them are not great human beings.
Is that the dude from the wire . McNulty I think
