I had the same issue yesterday with exactly the same type of gasket. I also used a few spots of gasket sealer in the rocker cover but I held the gasket in place with pegs for a while to allow the sealer to set slightly.
The sealer alone should work but I hadn't cleaned the oil out of the channel fully and it wasn't sticking to the metal. If that is cleaned well, there shouldn't be a problem. Thanks for your input. Always good to hear another view.
Thanks for the vid. done a few times but I'm not any good at video making. clean surfaces with brake cleaner or similar - RTV will stick much better and need less. use toyota gasket , it fits snug and hangs well on to the cover without any sealant. Actualy , any rubber or gasket item on the mr2 is worth paying for the toyota one just for the fit & finish ,, anything aftermarket seems crap.

Maybe try Paul at PCB. Alternatively just go to toyota. They're not a bad price from them.
