He's incredibly knowledgeable. Probably the smartest person in the whole test kitchen. He's just casual about it because he knows enough to know that the magic happens when you experiment.

misophonia is about noises made by people, like chewing or cracking knuckles. clicking made by a stove is annoying but doesn't trigger the same reactions
@@helenross3037 Something like a clicking clock or stove can bother people with misophonia, but yeah most misophoniacs are only bothered by mouth sounds. Personally I'm just bothered by any human related sounds in general like someone in the other room listening to music or a podcast on top of mouth sounds.

@@helenross3037 Listening to my own is fine, but I think it's just that when other people are listening, I have no control over it. You can't close your ears like you can with your eyes. Misophonia mixed with sensory anxiety makes it bad, not the music itself.

@@arson9662 funny, I was just re-educating myself on those differences while looking up Misophonia and the parameters entailed. OCD is too often used to describe... what's the word? a desire to have certain things the way you think they should be? maybe a sense of perfectionism? which I believe everybody has about at least one something? the same way I feel everybody has something that they could be Misophonic about. but OCD is absolutely a different beast!

See, if people are there I just rinse it and still throw it in 😂 realistically it’s gonna cook off anything questionable anyway, the plants where veg are packaged are probably just as dirty as your floor, and I’d be surprised if everything didn’t touch the floor before it was sold. I completely understand how you feel! It's really frustrating since you feel bad asking the person to stop making the noise, especially since they don't understand why it upsets you/gets mad that you're asking.
I've never heard anyone mention misophonia anywhere so it's really nice to hear Brad/other people's experience with it.

Re mushroom washing: I go by Jacques Pepin's advice. It's not a question of washing or not. If they're dirty, you wash them. You just need to use them straightaway. In other words, don't wash your mushrooms, then store them in the fridge. I think JP's advice is something we can all rely upon.
