Join Brad as he fires up the grill, blisters some Flavor Bombs, and tries to remember the name of that one song that goes “la la la lala laaaa la laaaa.” Make sure your permission slip has been signed because we’re also going on a field trip to Michigan to see how tomatoes are grown and harvested in a greenhouse environment. Brad Makes Charred Tomato Toast | It's Alive | Bon Appétit - Навчання та стиль
Can we please acknowledge that we all willfully entered this video thinking that it was just 23 minutes of Brad putting cheese and tomatoes on a toasted baguette
When they finished it I was like, what are they gonna do for 10 more minutes
I'll watch anything of Brad and Matt 😂😂
I was like, There is no way he can make that task last 20 minutes. What else happens?
Obviously! :D
Well I expected nothing less than amazing
Brad: "Flour's dangerous. A lot of people died in flour mills."
Sohla: (visibly struggling to find something to say) "....cool."
I don't know who's more awkward here, Brad or Sohla lol
that was SO painful to watch LMFAO
yeah that would probs be me XD
Look up Imperial Sugar on UA-cam. Dust explosions are no joke.
"well that won't be on brand then, huh"
- words you don't think of if you're ever the one on the spot
“Flour, very flammable, especially in the air, a lot of big fires in the old mills, A LOT OF PEOPLE DIED.”
“...cool”

Man, I miss the old Brad. You can feel the enthusiasm.
This is why she didn’t get her format. Just bland
Almost going Trump like on us there.
I can’t stand Sohla
Brad cuts in every way I was taught NOT to cut: in the air, into your hand, and towards your face... all just in one baguette 😂
Katie b lmao..he scares me when he cuts stuff..have you seen the camping vlog 🤣🤣
😂😂😂😂
The man emits chaos as naturally as the sun gives heat lol
Cutting towards oneself is totally fine as long as you have good control of the blade. You should also really be pushing the food into the blade more than you are cutting towards yourself.
Absolutely hilarious!!😂
Chris in the background looks like me when I’m trying to type a paper and have no clue where to start
I will now count to 3 and then I am still the unprettiest UA-camr of all time. 1...2...3. Btw I have two very hot girlfriends. Thank you for your attention, dear mags
This is the most relatable comment ever rn
I'm watching this instead of writing my paper
@@beccabrett648 Who wouldn't
he just ends up writing 'the' and then calls it a day; just like spongebob
"How is a weird caprese video 23 minutes?" half way through they straight up just take him to Michigan
Sammy Star that suprised me. Lmfao. I was not expecting it.
He was basically done with the dish and i was wondering why there was a whole 10 minutes left in the video😂 more brad minutes the merrier
You know it's a Brad video when they don't even mention him doing that in the title.
Sammy Star i wasn’t expecting it
Yea, wasn't expecting that little journey!
THE SONG BRAD CANT RECALL: heart of glass by blondie
omg thank you!
Go to hunzi’s Twitter. He edited brads voice into the blondie mv
Thanks! I recognized it but I couldn't for the life of me figure out the name.
total banger
Thank you! I knew it was blondie but couldn’t remember the name
Brad: OLLIE OIL
Me: Never calling it olive oil again
Nicole Cress The Master has spoken
That’s my lil nephews name
Ollie Ollie Ollie, oil oil oil.
I feel like Brad’s hyper-enthusiasm makes everyone else’s social skills so inferior that they become awkward around him, and that’s the type of friend I want in my life...
Brad’s energy overpowers everyone else’s
@@alexg1693 You never get a just bit of Brad
Kyle Fulkerson: I was going to leave a comment, but you said it so perfectly, I couldn't improve upon it. GIVE US MORE BRAD! lol
I aspire to have his energy
Me toooo
Jesus the editing of these just gets better with every episode. I also love how they stopped caring about the alive aspect a long time ago. Tomato toast? Just call it it's alive it's not like anyone's gonna compain.
As long as Brad's here and the editing is hilarious as always, I'm happy
Definitely just became "cooking with brad" but nobody cares
I like how they edit in as much chaos as possible to with like the skillet burning and all the glass sounds
isnt it bc of the cheese? thats what i thought 😅
Well technically tomatoes were alive at some point, cuz theyre plants
“Sorry, gentlemen. We’re just out here f**kin’ around.”
Nobody:
Chefs: Salt. olive oil. Salt. Olive oil. Salt. Salt. Salt. olive Oil. Little bit more Salt. Voila
Elements that make Its Alive a HIT SHOW:
- Brads humor
- Chemistry with cameraman
- Great meme edits
- Leisurely cooking (stark contrast to GM with Claire)
Did I miss anything?? I’ve loved seeing the evolution of Brad on camera over the seasons. :)
- Learning a new language. (Similar to American English but known affectionately as Bradish).
Brad: just match your flame to this one
Me: *looks at my electric stove*
I know, right? Not very helpful for the vast number of us with electric stoves...
You guys don’t know what you’re missing.
Yah and when your bread's not crispy enough, hey just fire up your 3 foot kitchen grill and get it nice and charred, easy.
@@Colin-kh6kp It's not exactly a choice. I've had a gas stove before, so I know it's better, but almost all apartments in my area use electric instead.
I feel you.
Sohla’s socially awkward reactions to Brad’s golden retriever mind are what the world needs
Sohla is the Lisa Simpson of the BA Test Kitchen.
Golden Retriever mind Ahahahaha
"...cool" -Sohla
Clarence Lee he is such a golden retriever LOL love brad
recoil53 I’d say Claire is pretty clearly the Lisa.
so happy he finally calls him “hunzi” in the vids like “vinny”
Where's Vinny?
@Kennty07 no way!
I hope when I die and I get to the gates of heaven brad is there saying “ we got you a ticket too bud.” This video had me laughing so much
Wholesome
🤍
""Hope it Works with Brad Leone" is 150% a show I would binge watch
Yes!
That's basically what this show already is.
Yes!
you're watching it right now, bud
Lets play alternate titles for It's Alive. You went first, so I submit "How to speak Jersey, and also do some cooking" with Brad Leoney.
"Today we're making an open-faced tomato sandwich [...] Real nice, real simple."
*spends at least 40 minutes cooking, including several pans, a grill, and a trip to Michigan*

- Salt.
- Pepper.
- Michigan.
- Bread.

Either Matt outdid himself this time, or quarantine is just making everything funnier bc I am dying at the “Guided Meditation”
The outro had me cracking up
The sequence in which Matt proceeds to explain to Brad how the Michigan transition will play out has me dying laughing
All us creatives these days are working remote and don't have anyone to reel us back to reality and tell us NO, YOU CAN'T DO THAT.
the bad thing is i fully breathed in and out just bc it said so
Bruh sameee
“Oh these tomatoes aren’t homemade. They were made in a factory. A bomb factory. They’re bombs.”
I started laughing uncontrollably. The delivery on that joke is *so good*
Bonus points for Spongebob references.
Timestamp?
kellsey rocca i was just referencing spongebob, they don’t actually say it lol
@@joshalexander8886 Tbh, I'm not surprised that I actually thought Brad said that. 100% seems like something he would say 😂
This is like the perfect example of how to make sponsored content enjoyable
4:46 I'm pretty sure Brad meant cross word puzzle.
no, i thought so too at first but then he goes on to say that he meant numbers instead of words
Scrabble?
Words with friends
at first i thought he meant Wordle
Sohlas like the cool teenage daughter in a coming of age movie and brads her goofy dad that she’s too cool for now
"Jeez, Dad! Stop talking about the flour mill fires! WE. KNOW."
to think she's older than him
"PEOPLE DIED"
"cool"
@@hodshuaqueen452 Some people are born Dads, some become Dads and some have Dadness thrust upon them.
They have an awesome dynamic,
The "It's Alive!" editor is absolutely off the chain
The meditation gets me everytime 😂😂 gotta love hunzi
"I think it's February everywhere" 😂😂😂
I didn't think he was being serious about going to Michigan 😂
this is an example of respectful advertising/sponsorship. It's like, "hey can you eat some tomatoes that we grew, and come see how we grow them so people might take a chance on a supermarket tomato?" That grow house was super cool, and Brad, you are sunbeams and a tone setter of days.
@Kate F a garden. Amazon
@Kate F A farmer's market maybe? Not in February though.
I'm really in awe of how composed Chris is in the background with a golden retriever going all over the kitchen
Edit: I usually don't get this much attention but thank god it's only online
Hey, he was composed herding his kids in that zoom meeting "you are NOT eating a second banana!" Chris is zen personified
LMAO! True! Brad has a golden retriever energy. We love him!
Carl try jack russell terrier
Chris is the cat.
when is chris not composed
All these Shakespeare references make me wonder if this was really Hunzi's chosen career.
7:23 "oil on lens" is a deeply underappreciated joke 😂😂
Legit, though.
Any professional cook: “I’m going to add a little olive oil”
*adds immense amount of olive oil*
Then finishes with a little more on top
Just a touch of olive oil..
**Dumps three bottles into the pot**
“Just a little butter”
*backs up truck*
"Two shots of vodka"
And also pinches of salt. A Chefs pinch of salt has enough sodium to paralyze an elephant (or whatever sodium does, I wanna get my point through)
Dan has the character development we aspire for: “dead to us” to “esteemed colleague”
Brings a tear to my eye.
I can’t get enough of this guy! Super chill, funny and knows what he’s doing, ( even though sometimes it seems he doesn’t). But...that’s the beauty of it!! He makes some wicked creations, definitely knows what he’s doing and puts a laid back spin on getting into the kitchen and having fun, all the while eating well. Don’t take life too seriously....don’t take food too seriously....just go with the flow. Keep it up Brad. The entire premise of this show is fantastic and enjoyable to watch.
I'm here because Karen Kilgariff mentioned this on her My Favorite Murder podcast and I couldn't love this more.
I love how they don't even pretend that It's Alive is about fermentation recipes anymore
But there was garlic! Now we can call it "It's Alive!"
Yup, It’s Alive just means Brad’s video lol
Well, maybe its alive is not about the organisms ... but about the friends we made along the way.
@@Zancb more like "It's Allicin!"
It’s cuz brad has a live personality
only bon appetit could get me to watch a 25 minute video of a tomato sandwich being made. i dont even like tomatoes. im here for brad and brad Only
andrienaline how in the h*ck do you not like tomatoes?
And Matt edit.
@@TheHeroicraptor I don't really like warm whole tomatoes. The skin gets all weird and plasticy and the inside is too hot. It's just not for me! Love ketchup and tomato sauces though
Renata Silva YES hunzi is my god
I don't like tomatoes either. I like ketchup, marinara sauce, pizza sauce, etc. But by themselves or chunks in food are not good
When you rummage through old BA videos just to watch Brad be himself, a lovable, wholesome chap.
This is probably my favorite “It’s Alive” episode ever.
When they say "Bring it over here, Brad!" and he goes "Okay!!! Let me cut some pieces!!!!" he's so excited and precious omg
I know, like when he tells hunzi to "eat some breakfast bud!" he's so precious 😭😭
Brad Leon's the epitome of a Golden Retriever in Man
Full golden retriever mode activated!
brad: “you wanna be in it’s alive-“
sohla: *runs away*
Hunzi’s editing is on point with Brad’s chaos- such a great pairing. Always.
me, doesn’t like tomatoes and knows nothing about tomatoes except that they’re red: wow those tomatoes are beautiful and look delicious
You may find you don't like store bought tomatoes.
My husband hates uncooked tomatoes unless they come out of our garden because they taste so much different to the ones at the store that are picked green and refrigerated which ruins the flavour.
Unless of course it's a texture thing, and then I totally get you as some textures I just can't do.
“breathe in... breathe ou- he’s back” i DIED
cool i wasn’t the only one who heard that lmao
I looooove Brad's golden retriever energy. And that little heart over Chris towards the end? This whole episode was just *chefs kiss*
I had in my head what this would taste like, and got all the ingredients for it and even made homemade baguettes, and it was 2x better than I even imagined it being!
"Come on Hunzi; we got you a ticket too, bud." Just made my heart feel so full of love and laughter at the same time hahah. I can't explain how much I look forward to watching Bon Appetit every day; yes EVERY day.
"Just match it to this flame."
Stares in electrical stovetop...
You heard him! Match the flame!
Just catch the electric stove top on fire; that's what I do :P
I put a small pot holder on top of my stove and catch it on fire then hang the pot over it

Not gonna lie, was looking forward to see him cook in his own kitchen. Imagine! Brad in quarantine! Just imagine! I really wanted to see his fermentation basement.
You mean the Dungeon? lmao
Attalea Cornell
He DID say dungeon.🤓
"fermentation" "basement"
Is there another bag of sugared egg yolks there, still there?
Touché 😂
Got recommended this video again 7 months later when it was aired and everything was so much more lively and homely with the crew back then. Now I cry
Brad: Don't forget the "D" folks.
Kesh: [blushes]
Brad (later): Kiss the bottom
"Match the size of that flame"
Stares at my electric stove top in confusion
bucket of crab “brad I’m not gonna lie that’s gonna be hard to do but I can put alcohol or oil on my stove and try”😂
Just try starting a small grease fire on your stove, you'll be fine.
The irony being that the flame was so small the camera barely picked it up. I don't think you get an accurate representation either way, but based on the char and cook time I'm guessing medium to low, or 3 to 5 on electric stove.
Brad: Look at the size of the flame
Me: *looks at electric stove* [sad tomato noises]
Me too!! 😥😭🍅
Right? This is obviously the reason you publish "medium heat"
Brad lives in the test kitchen closet. He doesn't understand that most people don't live like him and don't have all the tools he has.
This actually hurt to read 😭 reality sucks
brad i want you to know i’ve made this almost every other day in quarantine and it’s all thanks to you. i love you
I’ve watched this video so many times but love the energy so much i keep coming back. Fs a old favorite
Not gonna lie, a new "I hope this works - with Brad Leone" series sounds amazing.

It will probably get the whole BA office, and every tenant in the building, uninsured.

Oh my god it's a quarantine miracle.
"'I hope it works' with Brad Leone" is totally a show I would watch.
Mainly because recipe brainstorming (i.e. gourmet makes) is super interesting.
I would watch that too. Maybe if enough of us comment on it, they'll do it. lol
They made it! It's called "It's Alive" ^^
It should be a show where they change the host and just let them cook something, no recipe, just ingredients
I would sooo watch it. I would pay to watch it.
OMG Yess
I love this guy. He has such a clear heart. Precious ❤
"hi my name's brad and I'm blistering tOMATOOOOESSS"

I always bring out "words, words, words" when asked to quote Shakespeare. The edit made me happy
It was a precious moment indeed
It's Alive: Guided Meditation was a pretty funny bit even if it lasted for a short amount of time.
"Breathe in...and out- oh he's back"

The second one, when Hunzi was trying to explain the outro to him was one of the funniest things I've seen in a while.
I loved this bit so much!

It's much nicer to actually hear the guy behind the camera talking to Brad, rather than Brad responding to questions we don't hear because they're too quiet or edited out.
