The Avatars we've seen before Korra spent their entire youths mastering and studying one element, and their personalities reflect that. So for Aang and Roku, their hardest element WAS the opposite of their native one. But Korra's been an earthbender and firebender as long as she's been a waterbender.
and ‘Moku’ is the name of the heavy-set traveling nomad who wears white in The Cave of Two Lovers episode of ATLA. Not really relevant at all, but they also say his name 3 times in the episode which is 1 more than Chong (the main singing nomad)
Pemma, Tenzin's wife is an air acolyte but not an air bender. After the 100 years war, Aang had quite a fan club and he established the air acolytes. Air acolytes are non-benders who strive to live spiritual lives of monks and nuns. They wear the same robes and are vegetarians. Basically like the non-bending members of the Earth, Water, and Fire nations. The original Air Nomads had no non-benders among them.
The technology level makes sense. Republic City would be somewhere around the 1920s-level technology, so 100 years before (Aang's time) would be 1820. Fun side fact: If you look at the timeline of events and inventions in the real world, it would have technically been possible for Abraham Lincoln to receive a fax from a Samurai. :)
Such a great point , Meesh . Making that personality comparison of Zuko and Korra is spot on . Loving Dee’s journey through the Avatar universe her fresh perspective is gonna be interesting. I can’t wait
Its so fun to see Korra grow from season to season, and within seasons. Aang's journey was about having to take on his responsibility and face his destiny. Korra already embraces her role and destiny so her journey is more about her own self-growth and you really do see it as time goes on.
The thing is Tenzin IS trying to be like Aang. But his personality is 90% Katara. People never see it just because he is male/an airbender/ looks like Aang.
Which was massively exacerbated by all the responsibility placed on him. He grew up in the shadow of his father's great achievements, and with the legacy of the Air Nation on his shoulders. It's also important to remember that our perception of Aang is based on who he was as a 12 year old. And while there is some implication that a bit of that light heartedness remains, we also see the older Aang being a lot more serious due his responsibilities as well.
@2:32 This is one of the things they kept consistent with ATLA. In the episode "Bitter Work," Toph tells Aang that he has to stop "thinking like an Airbender," and that earth is a stubborn element that can only be bent by an even more stubborn bender. His easy-going personality is a large part of why he had a difficult time learning to Earth Bend. Consequently, Korra's hot tempered and hard-headed personality made it difficult for her to bend air.
If you think about it, after Aang died, Tenzin became the last airbender... and the only one left who could make more airbenders. Pema being a non-bender actually helped the odds of having Airbender kids! If Tenzin married an earthbender for instance, the odds for each kid would be 33% earth, 33% air, 33% non-bending. But since he married a non-bender it's 50-50! Air or non! He lucked out by having three airbenders in a row.
Tenzin definitely has more Katara vibes than Aang lmao. Also the one thing that alot of people can probably agree on with Korra is that the music is definitely amazing. Better than ATLA imo. Just hits different
❤ Yes, this isn't meant to replace Ang's story, but continue the world building and show how not all Avatars become fully realized avatars in the same manner. I really wish they'd do a live adaptation of Korra. I feel it'd be a better story to adapt.
Watched an animated show called the last airbender. Watched a live adaptation called the last airbender. Watches Korra, “what happened to all the airbenders?”
Season 3 goes into why the white lotus has kept very close guard over korra. There's reason, and it's a very intense and deadly reason. If the white lotus fails to protect her....well....you'll see
Aang was a pacifist in a time of war and Korra is a warrior in a time of peace! And she has a character of a firebender in my opinion and she has tpo learn so much in the world because she was kept hidden by the Whte Lotus. The reason why you will see in season 3(best). So interesting! I also like all the villains more than Fire Lord Ozai. Greetings from Germany❤
I read somewhere that flying bison can live up to a few hundred years give or take. But sadly when Aang died Appa was stricken with grief that he died pretty early. It’s not a spoiler because it never gets mentioned at all in this series.
@@yannym4605yeah they did.. funnily enough when she gets her memories back she's the best she's ever been. Season 2 second half and season 3 korra is the wisest we've seen.. season 4 is also very much up there with how she handled kuvira.
The more you get older(mentally). The more you understand Korra and binge her series even more than the original. I have no soft spot for Korra. But i understand her character better
Dee Appa died, when The Legend Of Korra first came out on their site on Nickelodeon they had a map of Republic City and had profiles on all of the characters both dead and Alive by the way Aang was 66 when he died. They also had profiles on all of the animals and spirits everything. Apparently the Bison obviously survived the Genocide and so did the Leemers because clearly Momo was able to mate and breed lots of leemer children. But yea Appa did die but he lived longer then am Aang maybe 15 or 20 years longer not sure though.
Hey Avatar Meesh and Avatar Dee back with another Korra episode nice. This is a great episode. Korra trying to learn how to Airbend while not getting the basics. In which some part of me was annoyed and piss with her for yelling at Tenzin as and destroying the Airbender 2000 year old artifact. I hope the rest of you two day is enjoyable. We are introduced to Mako and Bolin and which you can somewhat tell they're suppose to be this show Zuko and Sokka. Pro bending is a cool feature that they brought to the Avatar universe.
We were cringing when she destroyed the artifacts! 🤣 pro bending is such a cool touch! I wonder what we will see in the new earth bending avatar series 🤔 😅 have a great day rob! ❤️ -M
Yeah, but Aang's personality is realy like an airbending monk. He's avoiding confict, ducking and rolling and always trying to find a spirtual solution to conflict. Korra loves direct action and airbending requires being indirect.
My take for Tenzin being against pro bending is that as it doesn't use air bending, he couldn't play that as a child. Even the White Lotus (supposedly a "conservative association") sees no problem in watch pro bending. But Tenzin has probably a bad memory about it.
I disagree that what they said at the start is any different compared to ATLA. aang personality coincidentally is much like an airbender, he was having trouble with earth because he was thinking of airbender-ways to solve the issues. Korra is most like an earthbender personality-wise, cuz she's stubborn, blunt and confrontational.
Fyi she's not really thinking of Mako in that last scene. The look on her face is bc she's super excited to do pro-bending since she's always dreamt of experiencing it, and she's finally living the life she wants, not 'imprisoned' in the south pole. Mako tho is def thinking about Korra tho haha
I think a lot of people forget that Zuko had the same tendency to lash out at Uncle Iroh a sweet man who loved him like a son and say some horrible things even in Season 3 when Iroh was imprisoned like "your a crazy old man! Your crazy! And if you weren't in jail you'd be sleeping in a gutter!" S3 e2. Or in S2 e1 "I think that you are exactly what you seem, a lazy, mistrustful, shallow old man who's always been jealous of his brother". But people seem to forgive Zuko by the end of Atla because he changed and he did far worse things like betraying Iroh and almost getting Aang killed by siding with Azula.

FUN FACT! Mako is named after the original Voice actor for uncle Iroh ladies, the creators way of paying respects to him.
and ‘Moku’ is the name of the heavy-set traveling nomad who wears white in The Cave of Two Lovers episode of ATLA. Not really relevant at all, but they also say his name 3 times in the episode which is 1 more than Chong (the main singing nomad)
I love that you pointed out how Tenzin tries to be like Aang but is actually his opposite
He's more like his mama😂
Tenzin definitely inherent Katara's outbursts.
Pemma, Tenzin's wife is an air acolyte but not an air bender. After the 100 years war, Aang had quite a fan club and he established the air acolytes. I love this fun fact!! 🤗
the samurai were pretty alive in WW2. i understand your point but being a samurai is not a good identifier of a time period.
I feel like Tenzin is much more like his mother than like Aang. I mean, the quivering eyebrow when he gets angry? Stole that right from his mom! 😂
Such a great point , Meesh . Making that personality comparison of Zuko and Korra is spot on . Loving Dee’s journey through the Avatar universe her fresh perspective is gonna be interesting. I can’t wait

I love how ya'll feel about the music. This show has some of the best musical scores ever.
Dee: “They’re not trying to replace the Aang gang or that story. They’re just moving on to the next chapter.” 👈 1000% 👏👏❤️

Tenzin definitely has more Katara vibes than Aang lmao. Also the one thing that alot of people can probably agree on with Korra is that the music is definitely amazing. Better than ATLA imo. Just hits different

Watched a live adaptation called the last airbender.
Watches Korra, “what happened to all the airbenders?”
"Wait is she also an airbender?" Stupidest shit I done ever heard..
I can't wait to see her reaction in the final scene
Season 3 goes into why the white lotus has kept very close guard over korra. There's reason, and it's a very intense and deadly reason. If the white lotus fails to protect her....well....you'll see
Hehehe nice one
The voice of Mako is Actor David Faustino who played Bud in Married With Children in the 80’s carried over into the 90’s
Korra, born of the water tribe with the heart of a Firebender. Air was never gonna be easy lol
In ATLA the characters only speculated as to why Aang had a hard time with Earth they didn't truly know. The real reason is what Tenzin describes.
Aang was a pacifist in a time of war and Korra is a warrior in a time of peace! And she has a character of a firebender in my opinion and she has tpo learn so much in the world because she was kept hidden by the Whte Lotus. The reason why you will see in season 3(best). Hey Meesh and Dee! Glad you are enjoying LOK. It gets better and better :)
Korra can come across a unlikeable at first but as the series continues you can see her character growth.
Personally I only find early season 2 Korra unlikeable because it feels like they did a temporary reset on her season 1 character growth.
@@yannym4605
Wasnt a reset, she just had residual character flaws to work thru from Book 1
@@yannym4605yeah they did.. funnily enough when she gets her memories back she's the best she's ever been. Season 2 second half and season 3 korra is the wisest we've seen.. season 4 is also very much up there with how she handled kuvira.
Tenzin is actually a lot like Katara. He is very mich a mix of Aang and Katara
Top five favorite characters for the series 1. Mako, 2. Season 3 villain, 4. Lin, 5. Bolin.
korra is such a jock i love her
I love how Meesh have to remind Dee for everything hahahha ...specially the genocide...

The bending is super fun but outbursts like "because you're a terrible teacher" make Korra herself hard to like.
Characters are supposed to have flaws to work through…
I think a lot of people forget that Zuko had the same tendency to lash out at Uncle Iroh a sweet man who loved him like a son and say some horrible things even in Season 3 when Iroh was imprisoned like "your a crazy old man! I think it's intentional for Korra to not be likeable at the start lol, but that's what character growth is about.
