WOW! This was a good one! Happy I discovered this GREAT documentary. I'm from Sweden, living in Norway, and I have been in a WFPB lifestyle for 4 years now. I did it for health reasons but after a very short time in it I discovered that I not only became healthier and that the arthritis pain was gone, but I also became stronger and got much more energy. I'm 62 y.o now and I'm healthier than I have ever been. As a former hockey player and boxer, I thought everything was over after I passed 50. But today I am thriving in the gym, building lean muscles and cardio. I love my diet!
My husband was diagnosed with 2 types of cancer untl we found how whole food changed us and we were thriving from there and never looked back. After watching forks iver knives and what the health we chabged overnight and cleaned our fridge and pantry that have any animal products. We feel better.
The actress Gloria Swanson (from the 1920’s) knew that plant based eating was the way to go. She was way ahead of her time. If you watch interviews of her when she was 60 + she looks amazing.
I absolutely agree. I was finally diagnosed with MS at 30, but had problems for well over a decade. I lost all of my 20’s to MS (and other chronic health conditions). I have come off almost all of my medications, reversed prediabetes, and put my MS into remission thanks to diet (and exercise). Highly recommended looking into Terry Whals, she is absolutely incredible.
Likewise, I reversed diabetes, obesity, RA, IBS, autoimmune issues, and on and on! I was 60 so it's never too late to start... but start early if you can!!!
@@CharGC123 Exactly. Here is my story. I used to eat meat and dairy but thought I was eating a healthy diet. I did drink soy milk, but got scared of soy so I quit. I then started using whey protein powder to try to gain muscle. I developed a lump in my chest. Breast cancer in men is rare, but possible. I went to my doctor, and he put me through a series of tests for cancer. I researched what I could eat to help my chances. The documentary "Forks Over Knives" convinced me. I dumped the whey and switched to a mostly Whole Food Plant Based vegan diet. By the time I was supposed to have a biopsy, they weren't able to get a sample, because my lump had shrunk so much. I felt so much more energy on my new diet, so I kept it. I then learned the facts about why others have gone fully vegan. I went 100% around the age of 60. I am now in my mid 60's, and never felt better. I get glowing reports from my doctor and need no prescriptions. Both my siblings have had heart disease, gall bladder removal, type 2 diabetes, cancer, or a combination. One of my brothers is older, and one is younger than I am.

This was so excellent and a reminder of what I learned years ago when I had Sarcoidosis. I happened to come across the "anti-sarcoid diet" and I employed it. My doc wanted me on a statin. She also said my fasting glucose of 113 was fine. My kidney function hit a temporary low of 59 EGFR but she wasn't worried since the nephrologist said it was likely just because I was obese. Um, that worried me even though she told me I shouldn't be! I spent 6 months studying my blood work, studying ideal diets for heart health and kidney health, tracking my fasting glucose....in 6 months I went from a BMI of 35 if I remember right not an over weight BMI. My fasting glucose was 94 at my next appointment. My EGFR went from 59.1 to 84. And my cholesterol was normal. My resting heart rate dropped too into the range of an athlete even though I wasn't exercising much at all. Had I just listened to my doc she likely would have put me on the statins which I hear can effect blood sugar negatively...which, in turn, can cause more kidney issues. My mom is a T2D due to obesity. Recently had part of her foot amputated. She refuses to turn her diet around or even take insulin. My doc might not have been worried about my blood sugar but I am glad I am. I have since lost a total of 70 pounds bringing my BMI down to 23.4. My resting heart rate lowering the entire time. My doc has yet to put me on any medications. Now I never did go solely plant based. I took my blood work, studied it, studied diets to lower cholesterol and fasting blood sugar but raise kidney function. Worked out a balanced diet from this, tried it for a few months until my next blood work and was going to tweak it from there. Didn't need to. A Mediterranean/Dashish/plant based/full fat dairy/ lean meat diet worked for me. I suggest you get blood work done and workout a diet that works specifically for your body. This doesn’t only happen with plant based diets it also happens on meat based diets. The main thing is no processed foods. Eat Whole Foods and you will get better. But if you are having digestive problems start finding out what vegetables are causing this.
He didn’t recover from naturopathic medicine. He recovered from the whole food plant-based diet. That’s what the research that if you get into it in detail that with the research says.
I started eating a more plant based diet but not cutting out dairy, egg whites, and lean meats...and my fasting glucose went down from 113 into the 70's-90's, my cholesterol went from high to normal. My BMI went from 35 (if i remember right) to 23. My kidney function jumped 25 EGFR points.... but one month before my next blood work my family stocked up on beef so I ate way more beef than usual. My next blood work showed a 10 point drop in my EGFR and my cholesterol was high again. Beef is not my friend. But cutting out all meat and dairy wasn't my answer either. I still eat full fat dairy and lean meats. A lot of nuts also. But I limit beef now. We'll see what my next blood work shows. I don't believe in a one size fits all answer. Get your blood work done twice a year and study it. Eat to improve your specific numbers. When everything balances out, that's your ideal diet.
Thank you for sharing your/my story! The information you have presented is spot on and ready to understand! I'm currently taking Dr. Campbell's course at eCornell. You're AMAZING to have this produced! I've been WFPB for 8mos and I've lost 40 lbs, off 3 meds and my LDL and inflammatory markers are normal.
What science? Your ignoance astounds me. Fruit only grows a few weeks a year but it's shoved in your face and you're gullible enough to be brainwashed.
I'm delighted that most people will take it up for a couple of weeks and go back to a sensble diet afterwards. We've been eating meat for millions of years. Vegans haven't been around long enough to live a full life yet.
I’m lucky. My doctor told me I needed to go plant based. I listened because my health is not good even though I am a vegetarian. Dairy, eggs, and processed food are killing me.
What if one was on a whole foods plant based diet and they still fall ill with autoimmune diseases that completely disable a person? Nothing wrong with the environment, plenty of exercise and life in nature. Then what does one do? I think we also need to investigate into the other side of the story. Many people have healed their autoimmune issues with meat and fat only. Plenty of success stories no matter what modality one picks, plenty of scientific studies showing success with a variety of foods both animal and plant based. I think the most relevant aspect of healing with foods is finding out which one works for the individual afflicted with disease. The plant based route has always been tempting for me and I thought I was doing myself a favor by being plant based by supposedly warding off disease from the get go. That did not work for me. My salads of greens and seeds and legumes, my smoothies of kale and nuts/seeds, my beautiful dishes of plant based soups and veggie patties, spices and herbs etc thrust me into autoimmune issues post illness that I am now on year 8 and still grappling with. Nothing against plants but if we seriously consider food to be our medicine, it would be wise to first study the disease and find the most suitable medicine to treat it and not worry if the medicine came from plants or animals.
You described my whole plant-based diet perfectly. The more I do the worse I'm feeling. I cook from scratch and I eat lots of raw greens, almost no oils, homemade sourdough Einkorn bread, plenty of water, a mostly alkaline diet, intermittent fasting of 18 hours for more than 10 years, zero caffeine, no microwave in my house, no processed food...and much more. I have been eating this way for more than 20 years, by now I should have gotten better, but I'm going downhill.
@abarthspider3479 , fasting makes me feel less anxious. The foods I eat are nutrient dense and calorie dense, even if I want to, I don't have room for more meals.
It's not sustainable longterm. I was Vegan 6yrs and was always sick. I've found the best way is to get a bit of veg, meat and berries. No junk food or processed foods or sugar only stevia. I've not been sick in 6yrs except for a cold that lasted a day. I bought a hydroponic tent and a steam pot and have a steam sauna every day.
The blue zones are mostly plant based populations, from conception to death and they outlive all of us. We can argue the current diet most Americans have is unsustainable since they’re all dying sick and getting sick earlier .
In the Dominican Republic, as a kid, I think I ate meat once a month at the most, I ate lots of rice and beans and salads, plantains, and snacked on mangos and I had tons of energy and I was a very active kid. When I came here to the USA and had cheese and ham and just all this excessive Dairy and meat, I gained weight immediately.
The “You should know better, you’re a doctor.” line regarding the multiple sclerosis hit me hard. Considering doctors get such a minute amount of nutritional training, I’m not sure how any doctor could say this. The disconnect between modern medicine and nutrition is really disheartening.
Not sure where they came up with the black bean data . From wha5 I’ve seen , 100 g black beans have between 6 and 8.86 . I eat mostly plant based so I appreciate accurate information .
I wonder what else those rats were given as well as the casein, or what they weren't given? It's amazing how the French eat so much cheese and are slimmer and healthier than the rest of the world. They make more cheese there too.
You know, not for nothing, but you need to distinguish between casein 1 and casein 2. There is a difference. The majority of Americans consume casein 1 which is found in red meat and dairy products! Here in the Good Old U.S.A. And the industries push it. Which includes some if not a lot of medical professionals? Do not forget they also push pharmaceuticals.
So happy to see awaken people stepping into the new, progressive millennium with a human diet! Been a vegetarian for 3 and half decades, always mistaken by strangers that I was the daughter of my spouse and granddaughter of my mom.! :-)) (They're not happy for that mistake, esp. my hubby) :🙂 But please be noted that longevity, young looking are the by-products of Biophilia, Non-violence, Loving this planet we call home ! Do good to all sentient beings, including self, is the real spiritual goal!
All the way through this piece, meat and dairy is lumped in with processed foods, as compared to a plant-based diet free of processed foods. This is either extremely careless or disingenuous.
Many plants can help with this, some of them are not yet well known like Clitorea Ternate, Moringa, Sambung and many more Research We know because we see results at our Retreat Get to know what foods do for you 😮
I'm all for plant-based, however, some of the info lists is incorrect. There is much more protein per ounce in steak than there is in black beans. Same goes with broccoli vs meat. Just saying. But I completely support plant-based.
Cholesterol is in every part of our body we can't live without it and vegetables don't have any. Of course all vegans blame meat for their problems but, they all gave up junk food and sugar when they changed over and never gave that a thought.
@@c1humleyYou'll find out I'm right when your brain and sex organs start to lax. Too many vegan women periods stop. They go infertile. Men too, but don't let that bother you. The world population is too high anyway.
@@c1humley Most people who suffer heart disease and type 2 don't have high cholesterol. Explain that. In fact most people who are overweight don't have high cholesterol either. The highest cholesterol fat in the world is in coconut oil, 95% cholesterol. Not animal fat.
Not enough proteins... 1 can of black beans and 300g of frozen spinach have 55 grams of protein. More fiber than what's needed for a day. Iron and calcium also. Only 720 calories. No oil, only spices. This mix really kicks you off the couch. I feel like punching everything when I take that 😂
Yes you can turn gene on and off with diet. Every one is different, we all have different needs, I believe is based on the amount of different species of bacteria in the gut. As vegetables, fruits, meat, butter, fermented foods can feed same types of these bacteria. When ever I go on completely plant based diet, even though I have enough protein from it, I star to feel weak in as little as two weeks. I put together the diet that works best for me, I put together the fruits that par well together and only eat fruits for one day a week, then next few days I eat mostly various vegetables cooked and same raw, then one day I eat only meat I include chicken, beef, liver and fish in one day. one day I eat only nuts and seeds soaked, in the day I eat only meat and fresh cooked tomatoes, then drink lemonade during the day maximize my iron absorption. when I eat beans I make I cook it with pigs skin to add lots of colagen. I Have been trying to cut out completely coffee and the raw cheese that I love. In the days of fruits only I eat also dehydrated bananas coated in pure dark chocolate powder as a treat. In the days of vegetables only I make sure I eat as much as possible of different greens . So far this is my best diet. I eat every vegetables, every fruit, available. And eat only freshly cooked meats , no frozen, non preservatives package, and NON to processed meat and non to sausage.
Meat and broccoli do not have the same amount of protein. I would challenge her on that statement. I think she needs a little bit more investigating on the nutrients and investigating the plants that have nutrient blocking properties and many oxalates at times they can be harmful
Humans are omnivores, grains and mass agriculture only came about during the last 10,000 years, we've been eating meat and fish for much longer and some cultures even survived and thrived on mostly animal diets. Also this documentary didn't mention at all the anti-nutrients found in grains/vegetables (phytic acid, oxalates) and how you need to ferment and sprout them to get the full benefits. Plus we need saturated fat, half of the fat in human breast milk is saturated fat, and science is starting to show that some of these fats (like pentadecanoic acid) are essential. This is not to say all animal products are good, there is no shortage of poor animal foods like cured meats with chemicals, beef from cows fed roundup ready corn and soy, farmed fish, caged chicken fed fishmeal contaminated with PCBs and PFAS, etc, but avoiding nutrient dense, chemical-free animal foods does more harm than good. In addition, most people who are on a plant based diet are more than likely to gain weight due to the high carbs causing constant blood glucose and thus insulin spikes. Look up the carbohydrate-insulin model and how it implies that a plant based diet is not good for losing weight. I would like to see the reporter try a ketogenic diet with whole foods and see how it impacts her body fat levels.
NO amounts of healthy foods you eat will NOT WORK..if you DON'T have stomach acid to break down food properly .. or your food pipe/where the food travels down to your gi tracks.. if nothing works.. foods you eat, will not break down into small molecules,etc.... the foods will go down as it is ..Undigested foods coming out, when you go for#2 💩💩 i should know.. it happens to me.. i can't eat solid, hard to chew foods.. i have to eat yogurt/smoothies/jello mashed potatoes /kefir apple sauce😢😢it's so Depressing 😢😢😢😢😢😢 i have to take digestive enzymes / HCL w/foods😢😢 i hate the tastes of these tablets
What protein comes from plants? People are not herbivores, herbivores have four stomachs and hooves, many have tails and horns as well. They regergitate their more than once and never stop eating all day. We have the same digestive system as a lion or a worlf. You only have look and see the similarities. If you're thinking now that monkeys and gorillas are herbivores, you're quite wrong. They require just as much B12 and other animal produce as we do. They eat their own and their mate's poop. Other herbivore types are forced to do the same, rabbits etc. All creatures kill, like it or not we have to kill to survive. There's no such thing as a non-killer.

I LOVE YOU, BEAUTIFUL EARTH ANGEL., MYRIAM,....Thank you for having the LOVE and COURAGE to share your POWERFUL experiences to HEALTH and WELLBEING. You are a TRUE investigative reporter. We APPLAUD YOU 👏🏿👏🏼👏👏🏽👏🏻👏🏾💯‼️‼️‼️
Wow! This is awesome!
This doesn’t only happen with plant based diets it also happens on meat based diets.
The main thing is no processed foods. Eat Whole Foods and you will get better. But if you are having digestive problems start finding out what vegetables are causing this.
A great book on the subject here. is The macrobiotic path to total health: how to cure the 200 most common ailments by Michio Kushi

Eat Gods food your body will be fine , trust and believe in Jesus and your soul will be fine
What gets me is that people will hear the science and still deny it 🤦🏻♀️
Agree, people want to justify the way they eat.
What science? Your ignoance astounds me. Fruit only grows a few weeks a year but it's shoved in your face and you're gullible enough to be brainwashed.
How sad that this video only has 8.8K views 😢😢😢
They’re coming up, now that it’s in more recommended videos.
I'm delighted that most people will take it up for a couple of weeks and go back to a sensble diet afterwards. We've been eating meat for millions of years. Vegans haven't been around long enough to live a full life yet.
I love this so much!

Oh my goodness. Sorry your efforts surrounding food has not helped you. Look at Bruce Lipton concerning the MIND.
@abarthspider3479 , fasting makes me feel less anxious. The foods I eat are nutrient dense and calorie dense, even if I want to, I don't have room for more meals.
@@Leona-u8x , 🙏 I will look.
@@DonaBranca735 Sounds like an eating disorder. "Fasting makes me feel less anxious." Identical to anorexia and other eating disorders.
8.5 years and still going strong.
It sure is sustainable. My son hasn't had meat or dairy for nearly 10 years. He never gets sick. His weight and bloodwork is great.
God was right in the first chapter of the Bible when Adam and eve were created he gave them a plant base diet.
The “You should know better, you’re a doctor.” line regarding the multiple sclerosis hit me hard. Considering doctors get such a minute amount of nutritional training, I’m not sure how any doctor could say this. The disconnect between modern medicine and nutrition is really disheartening.
Plant based is the Future and the Future is Now!!!
Not sure where they came up with the black bean data . From wha5 I’ve seen , 100 g black beans have between 6 and 8.86 . I eat mostly plant based so I appreciate accurate information .
Well done.
Very nice video 👍🌹🌹
my diet is rich of meet and the best healt.
Everyone body is different, whats good for some is not good for others. I get my healing through the carnivore diet, plants are a problem for me.
Also the pet industry has similar problems. They are trying to not help but prolong the health issues. More money.😃😃😃
So many different theories. Keto, Mediterranean diet, Plant base diet, Carnivore diet. Each help people heal. Its not a one size fits all diet.
I wonder what else those rats were given as well as the casein, or what they weren't given?
It's amazing how the French eat so much cheese and are slimmer and healthier than the rest of the world. They make more cheese there too.
It comes down to the way they make real cheeses...here in America we only know trash, but they call it cheese.
It's still cow's milk dairy, casein. @@DonaBranca735

No one addresses how to get enough iron in the diet on veganism....it is a real issue for persons with anemia

So happy to see awaken people stepping into the new, progressive millennium with a human diet! All the way through this piece, meat and dairy is lumped in with processed foods, as compared to a plant-based diet free of processed foods. This is either extremely careless or disingenuous.
It’s always that way with food studies and keeps the masses confused. Good to study how groups of healthy (indigenous) people eat.
Yes, very little meat for indigenous people typically. The ones that are healthy that is.

Listen to who's talking about what vitamin D is added to when you about all the foods your B12 has been added to.
the grass family is the chief cause of inflamation in human start with sugarcane. wheat.grains etc most of the processed foods will never miss them
Many plants can help with this, some of them are not yet well known like Clitorea Ternate, Moringa, Sambung and many more

What about Keto diet?
I'm all for plant-based, however, some of the info lists is incorrect. There is much more protein per ounce in steak than there is in black beans. Same goes with broccoli vs meat. Just saying. But I completely support plant-based.
It's not for everyone it's better because they remove carbohydrates that's why they fill better
What do you think veggies are

Cholesterol is in every part of our body we can't live without it and vegetables don't have any.
Of course all vegans blame meat for their problems but, they all gave up junk food and sugar when they changed over and never gave that a thought.
We make our own cholesterol. It's more than enough. The more that we ingest is too much and that overdose causes problems.

The truth of the matter is she lost weight, and then she could run. It had nothing to do with meat.

And eat only freshly cooked meats , no frozen, non preservatives package, and NON to processed meat and non to sausage.

had to stop watching when they said that high fat in meat caused cholesterol and heart issues.
It was a lie, and the vegan community are happy to lie about meat and fat.
So the truth hurts?
@@benda777nba what truth?

Keep eating ur dirty diet, and see how u get sick.
All protein comes from plants. Where do you think animals get it. Skip the middle man.
Meat has the B vitamins.
No it is not a source at all. The only source is the plants close to the soil that they graze. Skip the middle man and go to the source.
They got part of it right. They are WRONG when it comes to Meat. KETO is the way to go.
