- What aesthetics could Paper Mario have after paper? This is a reupload of an older video from last year that had some graphical issues and I thought with TTYD coming up, it was time for a rerelease!
They did this with Wonder as far as I'm concerned.
That's what came to mind for me yeah
This was a re upload so, this vid was probably done before Wonder's release.
@WhatIsMatter101 nah, its a new video, it just had some issues that had to be fixed
To be honest, I didn't find Wonder's art style to be all that different in feel. Not as drastic a departure as SMW2 or indeed Paper Mario anyway. But I take your point.
@@nintendoforecast That's fair. I think it was about as big a change as we could expect from a mainline Mario game today.
Just to point out- haven't they already done "toy mario" in the mario vs donkey Kong sequels?
The next evolution will be Cardboard Mario.
a claymation aesthetic would be wonderful as well
Claymation would really suit mario & Luigi, imo
retro Mario aesthetic would be engaging something like an evolution and a revisiting of the origins of electronic video games in the 80s and 90s where they iterate and evolve the 8-Bit and 16 bit aesthetics
For more paper art concepts there is Kiri-e, japanese papercutting. With new gen hardware it wouldn't be impossible to animate the intricate cutout patterns. It's something near and dear to me so I'd love to see it.
Clearly a Mario Murder Mystery is the obvious next step for the plucky plumber. Who done it? Bowser? Wario? Wart? .... nah. It was Toad's long lost twin brother. All the more confusing because they all look alike anyway 😂
classical painting aesthetic would be nice as well which would allow for endless thematic mechanisms moves and items
honestly as a long time paper mario fan, I just want more games like the first three where the "paperness" of the characters is not the core conceit. sure TTYD has the overworld moves you can do by transforming into different paper shapes, but that's the limit of it. first and foremost these games worked because they are interesting stories with unique characters and a proven gameplay loop. the new style of paper mario is so bland and uninspired
Their combat mechanics are always unique same with the story and music
“Bland” idk looks unique to me what other rpg does what they do
Bland and uninspired?
Nah.
My first PM was SPM, so I was confused on why it's called Paper Mario. I much prefer them having an actual paper aesthetic.
damn it man you just reminded me that ardman just ran out of its modeling clay because the guys you supplied them were shutdown. so the company's future is uncertain...
They could make paper renditions of other franchises. I'd love a Paper Zelda RPG.
Putty/clay Mario. He could easily mold into different things.
i see this is a reupload, was this made before or after mario wonder?
Before.
Hyper realistic Mario... (of course not)
NINTENDO!!! HIRE THIS MAN!
Nice video!
Remember the Super Mario Bros Wonnder beta footage art style? Tha one would have been pretty new! (Or actually vintage)
Idk if others have said already but toy mario already exists in the mario vs donkey Kong series
Still waiting patiently for a game that looks like Yoichi Kotabe's drawings
This is a great point.
what do you think about the aquisition of shiver by nintendo?
My next video will cover this - up in a few hours.
Super Mario Art Attack!
Art Mario - different stages are different styles - ukiyo-e etc.
The Da Vinci stage would be nuts. 😆😆😆
Nintendo would never.
I think any arts and crafts will go straight Paper Mario since...you know. Though I can see a Lego Mario game considering those kind of games are. Movie, not so much as it would be kind of redundant and pretty is just a bunch of Mario games, mish mashed into one.
mushroom Kingdom reversal Mario would be good where he takes on the characteristics of the enemies and the environments that he's normally pitted against
I think a natural art style choice for Mario is Noir/Black and White/Comic Book style, since it's simply the polar opposite of what Mario is now. It's also the kind of art style Nintendo would use to develop new gameplay concepts for Mario that they might be blind to with their current color palette/art offerings. I'm not asking for a 'gritty' style Mario, either. Just, without color.
That would be great. Even if they did a new "Super Mario Land" with a retro B&W look. Terrific concept.
Photorealistic Mario 😂
I think the movie design of Mario is very good and I can see Mario adopting a few elements of the movie design. Things like the collared shirt, work gloves, laced boots and more detailed stitching would work if they wanted to go with a more "detailed" world for the next game.
watching them stick with this soulless corporate art for so long with one of our most beloved characters in worlds from the most legendary of all video game companies in an ERA with no limitations on art and coming from the land of anime and manga and every other video game art style 😔
Yarn would be boring and yarn games have never done well. Toy has already been done both by mario vs dk and original smash bros.
Ngl this just sounds like a made up problem. Look at paper Mario even stuff like origami king and TTYD remake are very different in style
And those games are different from how Mario odyssey look which has a more realistic art style compared to 3D world with a much more plasticy and cartoony and generic look
There’s also wonder which like it or not is very much different serving as a hybrid of 2D and 3D art which that in of itself is different from the likes NSMB series of games
Not to mention lugii’ mansion rocking a much more angular and detailed albeit not realistic art style, or of course Mario and Luigi games which rock very unique designs of the bros along with the art style
And depending on who you ask look at wario with stuff like wario land shake it and warioware. And debatably stuff like Mario strikers with the 2D renders or in battle league’s case occasional cell shaded look
Overall Mario has tried plenty of styles, the reason we dint see anything too drastic like a yarn Mario game is cuz they dint find the need to build a whole game around a gimmick like that and as for the spin-offs major art style changes aren’t needed outside of paper Mario
Cel shaded 3D Mario, next please.
the 2D side scrolling portion of Mario Odyssey add a unique art style to it
chalk markers pencil and crayon Mario would be great
they should do a puppet Mario theme with wooden puppets plaster puppets cloth and fur puppets
they used toy Mario in Mario versus donkey Kong March of the minis
This video is… weird. Other than the fact that it completely pretends Super Mario Bros. Wonder doesn’t exist and doesn’t have one of the most unique art styles of any Nintendo game, people don’t like Paper Mario for the “new paper gimmicks.” They like it for the world, the characters, and the RPG mechanics. The cute paper stuff is just a cherry on top.
Was this video for an alternate dimension where Wonder didn’t come out and the TTYD remake didn’t happen?
You could say that 😂
it does say reupload in the title
It's from last year and had issues with sound and copyright over using too long a movie clip. I've meant to put it back up for ages but this week I've been under the weather and under the gun at work so I've been burning through my "rainy day" videos. It's just a bit of fun really.
@@nintendoforecast understandable!
