- I finished my 1850's dress! This week, I added the sleeves, decorative bows, and collar, and then wore the dress to the annual Spooky Shoot of the Puget Sound Historical Costumers Guild (except it was nearly 80 degrees and smokey skies). Check out the final look in the end of this video!

Once again, another BEAUTIFULLY hand crafted masterpiece!
The yellows in the plaid are so subtle that this outfit 'reads' like half mourning. Very appropriate to Spooky Season. You should do a full formal mourning one of these Octobers with the floor length veil and all.
Or mourning for her lost love who she had to keep a secret because her family didn't approve. Sneaking out to the cemetery ...
I'd love that.
With an entire raven on the bonnet
Thank you! That's why I thought it worked well for a cemetery shoot! ☺️
@@LadyRebeccaFashions, someone is going to think you are a ghost in the cemetery looking for your long lost relatives.
oh dora. she just wanted to help. the dress turned out stunning!
I love when you work in silk. Beautiful job, that dress is very flattering on you! In the graveyard, you look like a widow in her 3rd year of mourning. It's the purple.
Thank you! I was kind of going for half -mourning with the shoot!
The dress and the bonnet turned out beautiful! I sometimes wish I lived way back when so I could wear dresses like that every day.....but then no dishwasher, washing machine, vacuum, etc.
Basic rights for women….
@@katebowers8107 Oh! You're right, I forgot about that. No property or voting rights!
Yeah, I think it's much better to live nowadays and just dress however you want. ☺️
I love the bonus pet content. They round things out.
The spooky shoot is giving such Haunted Mansion vibes
I seriously love the colour of that purple. it suits Dora so well!! I'm glad I'm not the only one who has cat issues when sewing/ figuring things out/ everything else🤣🤣. they do love to help. and hide under your skirts when they're on a dummy!!
Pomeranians love doing that too!
@@elizabethsloan3192 thank god I've only got a border collie that loves chasing the sewing machine then🤣🤣🤣.
Thanks! And yep, Dora thinks hoopskirts are her personal tents.
I always love see Dora interrupt your sewing. My cats do the same thing. I love cat shenanigans.
Dora is wanting to help make bows.
It’s beautiful.
Your work is always lovely.
"Everybody knows, when you wear pearls that little by little the pearls become real." Countess Aurelia
Also, elastic above the elbow. That way the joint and bend helps keep it up like sleeve garters.
Dora can wear Golden Bow next Month for Animal Cancer Awareness. Rebecca at least you don't have 2 little helpers that try and go after the roving you are trying to spin with or bat at the spindle you are working with,
I have two little helpers who are always excited to help me with my knitting. It's hard to be so well loved 🙄😂
Really stunning. The colors work so well with you! You have the PERFECT Victorian figure! Dora is also very cute. :D
Thank you!
I love the bonnet. It turned out so nice and the dress too. I think the jewelry the yellow color looks wonderful on you and hug 🤗 to Dora.
So very, very lovely. That color combination and that plaid are dynamite! Thanks for sharing your talents with us!
Dora says, "I know you were talking mom, but it's my turn to say something!" That color of purple is so pretty and it really does look good on Dora too. What a sweet baby!
Boops from Dora at the end. I love it. And I love this dress, mostly because I love purple. And the wider "ribbon" ties on the bonnet look better that the narrow velvet would have. Mostly because the velvet ribbon would have been out of proportion with the rest of the trim. As to the undersleeves, you could do like you did with the lace collar and stitch them in with some whip stitches. I remember reading somewhere (I don't remember where) that that's what they did. I know that it was done in the 40s because my mother had some collars and cuffs that she could add to a suit she had from then. But yeah, whip stitching them in would give you a chance to change them out if make another set, or if you needed to wash them if they got dirty somehow.
Thanks! Yeah, I think I'll probably whip stitch the sleeves in at some point.
I have never been more distressed to see someone not pet a cat. Rebecca! Pet that kitty!!
Haha! Don't worry, I've given her lots of pets!
Have you considered doing an evening bodice? Dora looks really cute
I hadn't really, but if I need an evening gown for something in the next year, I just might! And thank you!
HI DORA!
A Lot seems like a good description of Victorian fashion in genera.
There is absolutely nothing like the 1850s silhouette!!! I adore how this turned out
Thank you!
Ooooooh, myyyyyyyy goodnnnneeeeeessssssss! Squeal! Absolutely stunning; the bows are a perfect size, and the sleeves are to die for. How about sewing buttons on the inside of the outer sleeves, and buttonholes on the undersleeves. It makes sense, and there would be no worry about losing a pin and having a limp sleeve. I have already tried the dress on...in my head. Haha!
Love it, love your channel,
xoxo's Sandie 🤗😍
That's a really good idea! And thanks!
I didn’t expect to love this like I do…. I’m not usually attracted to big 1850’s hoop skirts, or purple for that matter, but this dress is exquisite! Just beautiful!
The Dora footage is what we were all waiting for. The dress is fantastic.
Come for the sewing content, stay for the Dora/Lion content! ❤️🪡🧵🐱🐶
Madam looks adorable (and Dora is too)
CAT CAM LOVE THAT DORIA GOT IN THE VIDEO. LOVE THE DRESS
Love the dora kisses... the bow on the point keeps flipping up... I hope you can find a way to flatten it back down. Love the whole ensemble!
Thank you, and good to know! I didn't catch that it was flipping.
That came out really pretty, Lady Rebecca!😍 I LOVE when you find a fashion plate & go, "I can make that!" 💜💛💜 And then you show us how to make it!😍
Love this dress. I don’t know why, maybe because of the cemetery but I got total Mary Todd Lincoln vibes from this one.
Thanks! I'm pretty sure there's some photos or portraits of her wearing this silhouette, so I get it!
WOW. And yes, that shade of purple is gorgeous on Dora
Yes, I totally enjoyed Dora loving on ya. Lol! She is so cute!!
I can't with how pretty this is! This is like the perfect autumn/spooky season dress. Also Dora is a very adorable teacher's assistant
Oh my, you look absolutely beautiful! My favorite thing you've made, and the jewelry was perfect. 😍 All you needed for the photoshoot was a raven.😉
Thank you!
So lovely. It all came together.
Thank you! And yeah, I probably should have just basted them.
I believe the pins more so than elastic for the time period.
Elastic the tops to fit your upper arm just a couple if inches above your elbow. As long as the elastics are not to tight or loose they should fit comfortably and support themselves
I think they would probably bug me, to be honest. I'll most likely baste them in, or just stick with the safety pins.
If you want a fluffy undersleve...you need 2 layers. one that fit in lenght a width and the fluffy one that is much longer and Wider . You then gather them to fit together...and wolla ..one fluffy undersleve. Remember if the fluffyness has to be uneven in lenght..then the outerpeace also has to!!
I think a lace handkerchief was needed for your photo shoot too! Beautiful 😊
You really are extremely talented! Your dress is amazing . Dora needs to be on the pillar with her bow !
I'm here for the Dora content almost as much as I'm here for the sewing content. 😊 I'm curious, do you do anything to your skirt hems to minimize grass or mud stains?
Honestly, for this shoot, I didn't have to worry about it. We haven't had rain in months, so the ground there was almost entirely dry. That said, for this era, I don't believe they had guards on a skirt like this, but I do have an antique 1860s dress (cotton homespun) that has wool tape along the hem to protect it.
How absolutely beautiful you look in this outfit. The dress is fantastic and the matching hat is awesome.
Good golly, this is gorgeous! And the wildfire smoke is giving the perfect misty/moody atmosphere. So I guess it's good for one single thing.
Also, I see Dora and my cats have been comparing notes. 😸
Thank you! Yeah, we totally didn't get our normal spooky golden hour light that we usually get for this shoot (we do it every year), but at least the smoke added a little bit of spooky vibes.
You choose the right amount of bows! Beautifully made and well balanced!
Beautiful dress creation and the location to showed it's perfect. Wonderful video.
Beautiful outfit, I wish I could wear that colour, it makes my complexion look ghastly. The undersleeves were probably white cotton heavily starched. All you need is a Paisley shawl! Dora is adorable.
Lovey. One tiny critique would be may put snaps on that bow at the point of the bodice. It kind of flopped a bit as you walked. You construction was well thought out and it shows in the final product.
amazing job, as always, my dear!
when you cannot wear black due to coming out of mourning, purple always works!
I always thought the sleeves were basted in.
I think you should do a video making something cute for Dora, since she so clearly wants to be the star of the channel!
She would hate it so much though!
@@LadyRebeccaFashions Oh no! That's just the price of fame, I guess!
You did such a wonderful job interpreting the fashion plate, it’s a gorgeous outfit! I especially love the way the natural light brings all the fabric textures alive!
Thank you!
That dress is sophisticated. Thank you for sharing.
The dress looks great those sleeves are epic . Dora is definitely in need of attention lots of cuddles required I love the pet content
Oh my word!…that dress is stunning…and looks absolutely fabulous on you Rebecca…well done ✅…🥰🇦🇺
Thank you!
Beautiful dress. My cat Rosie perked up and started watching as soon as Dora made an appearance.
Aww, I love that! Dora never pays attention to any cats on TV or anything. And thank you!
What a wonderful ensemble! The dark purple in the sleeve is just a great finishing touch! And the yellow crystal jewellery set from your wonderful sponsor is just right for this dress, I'm just sooo happy when I see you getting more sponsorships❤ and give Dora all the petts, she is so cute🥰
Aww thank you! Sometimes I worry that you all will get annoyed by the sponsorships, so that's really encouraging to hear! I'll give Dora pets for you! ☺️
@@LadyRebeccaFashions We're all used to sponsorships here on youtube, besides, it's a sign of a successful channel!
I'm been subscribed for well over a year(the first video I saw was the three winter plad skirts) and I have seen you grow, I, personally, get so happy for you when I see you get sponsorships! To me it says you are growing as a content creator and are being noticed in the community.
@@kayta84 thank you! And I think you're nearly at two years now! I believe that came out early January 2021.
Rebecca, another masterpiece!!!! So talented!!! And Dora is just the sweetest cat,I also had a calico very smart and beautiful!!!!!!
Thank you!
The only thing missing is a parasol. It turned out incredible. I wasn't sure about the pagoda sleeves until you finished them.
Thanks! I thought about bringing one of my antique carriage parasols, but I didn't want to risk damaging it.
I am obsessed with this dress! My fav color. One of these days I would love to make something similar but wouldn’t know where to start!!! 💜💜💜
This is one of favorite dresses you've created. Stunning!
such an outstanding job on this dress... i so want this in green... hehe... hugs from Dallas...
Omg your kitty is so cute.
Just gorgeous Rebecca
I love the dress and the fringe ribbon trim
Wow! You did a wonderful job with becoming a fashion plate!
I love the dress and the cap and that is the neatest cemetery I've ever seen.
Neatest? Are most cemeteries you've been to messy?
That is beautiful. Well done!
Dora!!! 😂🐈🤟
The gown came out gorgeous! I’m so amazed at what you can create!
I love the addition of the pendant and those sleeves!!!
BOOP! 😺
Thank you!
Wow its beautiful x and I love your cat and dog xx
To attach the sleeve inserts, maybe use tabs and buttons
I thought that the under sleeves buttoned to the oversleeve. I have no idea why I think that. However having a elastic at the top makes sense but I don't like the idea of having elastic on my arm that is tight enough to hold the sleeve up. I did a search for "how to attach engageantes" and it seems no one really knows.
Rotating the sleeve really made the sleeve look great, before it was getting some weird wrinkles.
Those colors are wonderful on you.
The final dress is astonishing! Makes me want to measure my plaid dress, you really make me love the concept!
Thank you!
Gorgeous beautiful
Beautiful!!!!!!
You look stunning! Everything is so beautifully done. Love the colour and all the accessories!
Thank you!
Plaid perfection 💜💜💜
Another beautiful creation.
That really is a stunning gown.
No, no…Dora is talking. She likes the fluffy bows
She has good taste. 😉
Dora kissies are the best!
It was so fun taking photos in the cemetery with you and the others!! They turned out gorgeous and your dress was breathtaking!!
Thank you! I'm glad you could make it!
Love the finished product! Thank you for sharing your process!
Very pretty, sorry you had so much trouble with the sleeves and bows. I guess your the student as much as the teacher . Dora came in right when you were getting a bit over the top. I do that too! We are so passionate about explaining something we are not aware of anyone else and their needs. Lol 🎶
Absolutely stunning!!!
Thank you!
Brava! Just beautiful! Love your design choices and how well it fits and suits you. 💜💚💛. I hope Dora got a bit of bow, too 😻
Thank you! I'll have to make her one, though she'll hate wearing it! 😂
Absolutely stunning.
Those bows are EXTRA and I love it!
This makes me want to attempt my own dress of this magnitude! Yours is fabulous and Dora is a cutie!
Thank you! You totally should!
The look came together so well!
The sleeve mock ups were so worth while. The sleeves turned out wonderful!! Also wonderful... purple.... and Dora.
So beautiful!
Thanks!
Your waist is snatched!!!
Thanks! That's the amazing thing about big skirts and big sleeves! 😉
Wow looking gorgeous and stunning
Beautiful!
It's so lovely, those colours are perfect!
you can do a combination of elastic and snaps to hold the under sleeve
Like to snap the undersleeve into the outer sleeve? That's a good idea.
Yes or to snap the sleeve shut on it's self
as complementary colors, yellow and purple look fantastic together, whereas blue and orange together hurts my eyeballs for some reason
have you thought about putting a little circle ring inside the sleeve new the elbow? that way you can tie your white inner sleeve into place instead of tieing it tight to your arm. probably no historical but you won't need a safety pin.
I hadn't thought about that, but tbh, the safety pins worked so well that I might just stick with them!
You look astonishing!
Thank you!
Stunning 💜
