Oh my. I was not prepared for the riveting content provided by your neighbor's hen. Of your many talents, I am most amazed that you speak fluent chicken. 🤣🤣
Love the dress. Some chicken advice should one get into the yard again. If you can wait until evening, chickens will settle down. You can easily & gently pick them up. They don't move. Anxious to see the finished dress!
So....the 20 leftover yards of purple trim - - You could cover a whole jacket in the trim, like fringe layers and it would end with a puffie, 1970's fringe purple jacket! lol
I don’t know how you find the time to do all the things that you do and that you do so brilliantly. But I am ever so grateful that one of the things you do so brilliantly is to take us along for the ride. Thank you. My eyes light up every time I see you’ve posted a new video.
Wow, you really lucked out with the purple band. And it looks so good on the skirt. Finding the exact right color purple to match another purple is so hard. One day when I was in study hall in 9th grade I saw another girl was wearing a a whole outfit in purple: skirt, blouse, and vest (because long vests were really popular in 1970) and she was also carrying a purple purse. Only problem was they were four different shades of purple. As you may already know purples either lean more to the blue side or to the red side, and this girl's outfit was both sides of that color line. One piece had a lot of red, another a lot of blue, etc. The image of that horrendous outfit is seared into my brain so I'm really careful about matching the color. I didn't say anything to her because she was several rows away from me and I didn't know her personally. But I have a feeling some of her girlfriends did because I don't remember ever seeing her wear those particular garments together again. To this day it makes me shudder.
Last thing I expected from these videos was suddenly experiencing Missing My Chickens hours, but I'm here for it. Then again I'm always missing my chickens when I'm at work.
This dress is coming out so beautifully, and can I just say, your Sudden Chicken Experience was masterfully edited and hilarious! There was something so perfectly comical about the cuts between the backyard shots and your reactions; definitely a highlight of the video :)
Chickens can fly. Two of our chickens would fly over our fence to the front yard until we clipped their flight feathers, which doesn't hurt them when done right.
I don't know why I continue to be amazed at the the details you must think thru & decide! A wonder. You not knowing why you bought the fringe & finding the matching satin away from its regular area, to me are God giggles. What a find. And chickens can fly short distances, so could have flown over so we all can see & get a giggle too. Prayers still in job hunting! 🤗💕
The chicken 🐔 content was perfect 👌. Am I the only one who had the Kokoriko village (??) soundtrack from Ocarina of time playing in the back of my mind during that sequence?
Omg from your expression during that pause at 17:44 I thought you were about to share a sudden sewing-related realization and then you come out with 'sorry... there's a chicken in my yard...' 🤣🐔 what a plot twist Dress is looking so gorgeous as well I love the fuzzy trim!
I’ve had so many interruptions during this video that it took me 6 hours to watch! I like your interruptions better. The purple fabric with the fringe is lovely on the skirt. Great stash find! Combined with the silk it’s stunning. Love how everything is turning out.
Thank you! It's a new eShakti dress, and I'm loving it! www.eshakti.com/productdetail.aspx?productid=CL0070380&Neckline=As%20Shown&Sleeve%20Type=As%20Shown&Length=Mid-calf%20length
Also, please always let us see your sweet fur babies doing what they do. 🤣 I have never been able to do any sort of crafting without my pets' interference. I can't even imagine trying to film said crafting with my pets around, especially knowing how excited my older (and very large) cat gets when I'm in a zoom meeting.
Lol, I'm reading this right after Dora completely interrupted a bow tutorial in the video for two weeks from now. So you'll be seeing more animals soon! 😉
@@LadyRebeccaFashions I can't wait! 🤣 I got so excited about all the things that I forgot to compliment the dress. It's stunning! Now I'm thinking I might need to give plaid a chance.
Really enjoyed this! Yes, I’m excited for the next instalment of this project. Loved the chicken 🐓 interlude! So proud of Dora and Lion for protecting you from the chicken. And you know, a silk project is not complete without the pet scan of approval 🥰 Sending best wishes from Down Under💕💖🌸🌺💐🇦🇺😎
New content, chicken chasing! Slap me silly that dress is gorgeous; the fringed trim looks perfect against the plaid. You're finishing so quickly, Rebecca, you might need to add more dresses to your to-do list. xoxo's Sandie🤗
OMG loved the chicken cameo. (I find them easier to catch if I toss a large heavyweight towel or something over them. ;-) But Lion seems to have a secret herding talent so all good!)
I am in love with the box pleats on this skirt. It makes my head spin with ideas to try on my plaids. Beautiful outfit. Can't wait for sleeves. It's always the chickens.
You started this project at the perfect time to get me excited for my new project. I had planned 1850s next and was soooo super excited when you said you were too! But I have to start from the bottom lol don't even have an era appropriate corset yet
I am so in awe! The costume is so beautiful! I find the colours and the style so gorgeously perfect an you!!! ( and what a beautiful corset…)Every time I watch your videos I feel so inspired..! I started sewing on an old Pfaff machine with foot pedal for power 😁and I so love it… redid my sofa and a chair and had so much fun.🤗
Wow, I really love the purple fringe & purple matte satin for the band! That shade is purple is my favorite. The added bonus of chicken content was entertaining.
Came here for the gorgeous dress but the bonus animal content was definitely a plus. Your furry friends are super cute and I just love the confused chicken lol. If one ever gets over the fence again, if you can wait until after dark to catch her it'll be super easy. We kept chickens when I was growing up and the hens are basically comatose when they're roosting. Just approach her slowly and pick her up (by her body not her neck) in one fast motion and then carry her tucked against you like she's a football you're trying to defend. :)
Oh, you found the perfect fabric for trimming! I was totally sold on the purple velvet, but what you found is sooooooo much better. And with the trim, it's fabulous. Anticipating the finished ensemble VERY much. However, I also love a Gunne Sax dress! Best of both. 😊🥰😏
Chick chick chicken hehehe the look on your face when you noticed it was gold! I'm really loving this dress, that dark purple just makes the dress! And I can't wait to see that gunnysacks dress, they are soo much fun! ❤
What an amazing find to be able to get fabric to match that trim so perfectly. It really does look amazing and help bring out the purple of the silk. Loved the chicken content. Having grown up on a farm I've chased my fair share of chickens, as well as asorted other livestock both ours and neighbours, so it really brought back some funny memories for me.
It's so beautiful 🤩 I can hardly wait for the sleeves. About the chicken... You trying to talk it over to the other side of the fence translated in my mind to "jump in my mouth if you want to live" 😂🤣
I love the purple variety in this. the yellow tone would just make me look ill. you're so lucky to be able to wear so many colours without them washing you out. can't wait for next week! do you mean a ladder stitch? it didn't sound like a whipped butted seam.
If you have another chicken situation, chicken burrow down when they think they are in danger, they just hunker down (just pretend to come from above and they think you are a predator). Once they sit, pick them up with both hands (wings to their bodies) and lift them over the fence :)
don't know if you saw it or not but there is a gap right at your bust, looks like about 1/2 inch....are you putting an extra hook there to pull it together? that dress is going to be so beautiful love the color and plaid on you....makes your waist look tiny...no wonder that style lasted as long as it did! LOL
Totally here for the chicken content. Tip for future chicken catching. Grab them firmly at the location of the wings, then tuck the head down towards the bottom of one wing. The don't put up a fight. Also be careful with Lion and Dora, chickens can do damage when scared. As for the dress, it is looking great! Wondering if you could share how you mark the hem? Finding hem length has always been a problem for me.
Thank you! Good to know about the chicken. For hems, I basically just put everything on (including shoes, of course), and stand in the mirror and see where it needs to be shortened to, then pin that section (while I'm still wearing it), until it's all at the right length. Then I take it off and press it. I hope that makes sense?

Sewing with gorgeous silk AND surprise chicken content? I’m not mad 😂
You should make a silk dress for the chicken. LOL

Haha! Thank you! I was pretty happy with the way I put those clips together! ☺️
The chicken is totally the content I've subscribed for.
The chicken bomb was priceless! That dress is going to look gorgeous.
Oh my god the chicken content is so relatable. I love this project. Lion was such a good helper in this video. Even as a fabric weight lol.
Haha! Do you frequently have random chickens in your yard? 😉
Chickens can fly. Two of our chickens would fly over our fence to the front yard until we clipped their flight feathers, which doesn't hurt them when done right.
I wonder if this one was already clipped. When she tried to scoot away from me when I had the broom, she only got maybe 4ft off the ground.
The chicken in your backyard was a nice bonus. I enjoy seeing animals in your videos, even though they're not centered on them.
I love the bee-line from the construction process to a chicken.

I love, “Do you need assistance?” Clearly you have not had chickens, but I love how much you care!
You were so polite when asking the chicken if it needed assistance! I laughed out loud! Priceless!
The chicken 🐔 content was perfect 👌. Am I the only one who had the Kokoriko village (??) soundtrack from Ocarina of time playing in the back of my mind during that sequence?

Hilarious chicken content!

I love how this is coming together! It so pretty! I didn't think a 1850s dress would be anywhere in my future but now I am thinking it must 🤔
Gorgeous gown, now with bonus chicken content!!!
There's a chicken in my yard... It's still there... cue distraction! So much fun, and thank you for the sewing too.
The dress project is looking great! The urban chicken was hysterical!! That will become more and more common, get ready for it.
The stitch you used on the seam of the ribbon is typically called a ladder stitch :) Also yay for chicken break.

Love the band much better than velvet. You lucked out on color!
Lion and chicken and cat oh, my. You are a braver than me. I'm scared to death of chickens.
Have you thought of interfacing the velvet to make it easier to work with?
